So having been told (and acknowledged) that long skirts cut on the bias are ageing I have now purchased a couple of short skirts (one black denim, one navy blue).

Now then, black skirt, black tights, black boots is a bit dull, SO do you do matchy matchy with your tights and your top, or is that too try hard and should go just randomly pull out coloured tights from your drawers and sling them on regardless of what is happening elsewhere in the outfit?

tho they did today but had my [croc] Woz boots on and they are lined.

Slubberdegullion · 25/10/2009 20:58

ahh but lou with legs like those you would want to draw attention to them (again) (in a non pervy fashion). My legs are satisfactory only.

But you could wear all black with black patterend tights to break it up a bit innit

today i wore small navy socks so they sort of blended in with the purply tights because i knew there would be boots off. normally i wear bright pink spotty or something that only i know about. i don't wear shoes at home either hence not wanting to wear out feet of tights.

MatNanPlus · 25/10/2009 21:05

pair of slipper socks thingies in my bag or trainer socks in black [so they don't see the colour of their floors]

i have some like this www.gioseppo.com/en/nuestra-coleccion/ladies-collection/1 and some knitted like this, i have 4 different xmas ones & this tho mine are fluffy x3 prs and also have leopard print x2pr i got in USA in 2007.

MatNanPlus · 25/10/2009 21:07

the fabric ones are great on planes too, ditto Fishie i seem to always have at least 1 hole by the end of the day, be they thin or thick cotton knot tights.

MatNanPlus · 25/10/2009 21:08

knit not knot

SimpleAsABC · 25/10/2009 21:23

is 13 quid not a bit steep for tights??

fishie · 25/10/2009 21:32

not if one is getting through a pair a wear otherwise. and the falkes are cottony so no sweat issues.

lou33 · 25/10/2009 21:40

slubber, you are v good for my ego

i got a pack of 3 opaque purple tights in sainsburys for 6 quid (the ones in the pic i linked)

Slubberdegullion · 25/10/2009 22:06

MatNan, you have a very well thought through foot/shoe/slipper plan to cover all eventualities . I will keep the footless ones in mind although I have never worn through a pair of tights via the foot (usually via the giant snag by walking into bushes/wicker baskets/scratchy animals etc).

lou I have the very same pair of tights on now, well not your opaques obviously, I think you might notice if I was there in there with you.

i dont have any tights on at all atm, i wondered where they had gone

KristinaM · 25/10/2009 22:30

i like purple ( different shades, i have no varicose veins) and greyish and textured

pink, red and teal too much for me at my age - i have the legs for them but not the face . stake would eye me up and go

" great shoes, good legs, nice dress, AAARGH"
[SCREAM at the wrinkles]

lou33 · 25/10/2009 22:41

pink red yellow or white tights i will not wear

CheeeseOnToast · 26/10/2009 14:33

So where is the best place to get coloured tights? I tried to get some from, ahem, primark the other week but couldn't see any. I'd like to get several colours, so somewhere cheapish, but good quality?

or even a good online retailer for deliveries?

lou33 · 26/10/2009 15:19

my purple ones and my grey ones i got from sainsburys

i get others from primark or new look

MadBadAndWieldingAnAxe · 26/10/2009 19:26

I got some fab crochet-lacey type ones from Peacocks. Yes, really.

Fleecy · 26/10/2009 21:27

Why not red? I have red, pink and mustard and like them all. Have worn them all with charcoal mini jumper dress, black waist belt and black boots - is there a rule I don't know about? Confused!

Also have purple, grey and teal which clearly pass muster here!

Tidey · 26/10/2009 21:35

I bought some teal and some purpley-reddish ones today, inspired by this thread. Christ knows what I'm going to wear them with, but it made me feel all adventurous for a moment anyway

PumpkinsCantDanceTheTango · 26/10/2009 21:37

op where di you get black denim skirt from?

Slubberdegullion · 26/10/2009 21:41

Pumpkins boden.

I'm going to get teal, or that m&s kingfisher, and some patterned/crochety ones, and maybe grey too

PumpkinsCantDanceTheTango · 26/10/2009 22:15

cheers

Slubberdegullion · 26/10/2009 22:19

I have had 3 compliments about it in 2 days, although that might be a nervous knee jerk reaction to the great reveal of my previously hidden legs.

Patterned black ones are good if you aren't brave enough for colour. M&S, Primark, H&M all good.
