I am desperately trying to find some lovely flat knee high boots in black.

I know Duo do some lovely ones, but at the moment I really can not afford them.

Can anyone suggest anywhere else ?

I have now begun staring at people's boots. There is a lady I was ogling at DS1's school gate today, who is so Frenchly elegant it is sickening. She can get away with all the trends, maxi dresses, tunics, you name it, she looks good in it. (Though I've not seen her in jeggings. Actually I don't think they have reached Provence).
Today she had a bronze coloured puffa coat in which she looked slim and chic, not like Michelin man's fat granny, a jumper dress and a pair of very nice black boots which fit her slender legs perfectly.

But I did not dare saunter up and ask her where she'd got them.

just some women looked a little jack boot esque

These were far, far removed from jackboots, MI. They were perfect.

I wore my Florence Duo boots for the first time yesterday and felt gorgeous. Loads of compliments (although dh suggested a long leather coat and I could go to a fancy dress as a member of the SS). Quite, apt, in terms of who is on Question Time later [hmmm]
