Well I love you too Eleanora, even though I have absolutely no idea who you are

MarshaBrady · 03/09/2009 11:27

Oh well hardly worth getting reproduced elsewhere since so irritating.

beanieb · 03/09/2009 11:38

"'They are making us look stupid and self obssessed and boring' - yep but then quite a few of the threads are like that.
"

yeah, but really what are the chances of them printing anything which shows the mums on mumsnet as anything but vacuous drones? It's hardly what the Daily mail does, is it?

Of course they are going to pick these types of threads for their paper. Why would thay want to portray mums as bright, connected sentient beings?

titchy · 03/09/2009 11:39

Come on 'fess up - who is Mrs D'Fanjo?!!!!!

Rindercella · 03/09/2009 11:40

PMSL @ Mrs D'Fanjo

Slubberdegullion · 03/09/2009 11:40

Not sure what you mean there Marsha.

Do you not see, the dm is a misogynistic pile of shite, but a whole swathe of mn threads play into their hands SOOOOOOOO well.

You want to see women hating....start a thread on Kerry Katona (and her weight). You'd get a two page sunday magazine spectacular of 'real' women in their most venom filled ranting ugliness. The DM would be combusting with joy.

Slubberdegullion · 03/09/2009 11:44

beanie, they can portray us however they like.

I know there are great posters here, and fantastic threads I care not one iota that some other person somewhere else in the world thinks we are bunch of nitwits.

MarshaBrady · 03/09/2009 12:00

I do concur that there are some vacuous, silly threads sure.

(and also that I shouldn't be here as much as I am, but read a book or umm do some work but am too tired and feels easy right now)

But mnhq seem to be really quite pleased that it will give them some clout or good publicity.

So if I were them I'd just say thanks but no thanks we don't want to appear like that. (I don't think it would result in a legal battle, the DM will just think oh sod you then we'll reproduce something else). The willing to not have it all hanging out there warts and all just doesn't exist.

Cos mn's not all bad is it?

beanieb · 03/09/2009 12:01

that's exactly what I was saying

why would a paper with their reputation and agenda choose to portray us in a positive light given their track record with women?

Simples.

Slubberdegullion · 03/09/2009 12:12

Indeed, indeed they wil pick and choose the posts according to their own agenda, they are still holding a mirror up to us though, yes yes it's a warped mirror, but those posts do really exist, typed out and posted by rl proper living mners

You can't defend mn like it is the Borg.

EleanoraBuntingCupcake · 03/09/2009 12:15

snort @ borg - you geek! runs off to regenerate do some work

MarshaBrady · 03/09/2009 12:20

Never having watched Star Trek I had to google that. Good one

Slubberdegullion · 03/09/2009 12:24

lol, oh there probably is a movement somewhere, with conventions and the like where you can put talc all over your face, strap a moulinex whisk onto your sternum and lobby parliament for new legislation protecting the rights of ethnic cleansing cyborgs.

I dare not google.

Slubberdegullion · 03/09/2009 12:25

The DM would be anti borg I suspect

MarshaBrady · 03/09/2009 12:26

lol

(see this is cheering me up after crap start to day good ol mn)

EleanoraBuntingCupcake · 03/09/2009 12:29

dm would LOVE borg, some might say their readers are borg.

Slubberdegullion · 03/09/2009 12:30

{grin]

see only on mn can you go from feeling quite cross about a newspaper article and in the space of a short thread move on to considering if you were to go to a Borg convention, what items of electric gadgetry would you attach to your person to create a convincing look.

Slubberdegullion · 03/09/2009 12:31

I dunno Eleanora, rights of forriners aliens, that's not really their bag is it?

EleanoraBuntingCupcake · 03/09/2009 12:32

loving the moulinex whisk. i would have a defunct webcam for an eyeball

MarshaBrady · 03/09/2009 12:32

exactomondo.

hilarious.

NoahFence · 03/09/2009 12:32

what is a borg

eleanora - who were you before?

EleanoraBuntingCupcake · 03/09/2009 12:33

that is true assimilation is not really their forte.

(in my defence dh watches star trek and i get sucked in)

Slubberdegullion · 03/09/2009 12:34

c/o wiki

The Borg manifest as cybernetically enhanced humanoid drones of multiple species, organized as an interconnected collective, the decisions of which are made by a hive mind, linked to subspace domain.

bodenites · 03/09/2009 12:37

resistance is fultile

NoahFence · 03/09/2009 12:38
