I'm a SAHM with a 15mo DS and I need ideas!!

OP posts:

Just to be back on thread for a minute.........

My autumn capsule wardrobe is:
skinny jeans (black, indigo and vintage wash)
merino and/or silk sweaters in variety of styles (v-neck, oversized Stella McCartney-esque, roll neck for late autumn) and colours.
A selection of dresses - including shift, tunics & jersey
Top Shop long sleeve tees in variety of colours for layering
Leggings
Ballet pumps
Boots for cooler days
Two drawers full of scarves and pashminas to go with

And DH says I cannot include any of my coats in my capsule wardrobe as apparently they are an entire wardrobe by themselves.

I wondered that too Fluffles!

LetThemEatCake · 01/09/2009 22:25

tuple it was from a vintage/retro shop in Greenwich, SE London ... wore it last A/W with this top in a deep fuschia-y pink, if that makes sense

I did see a nice leather skirt in one of the weekend supplements, actually .. could almost swear it was M&S? Slightly A-line and maybe with a zip detail ...

black sequin mini sounds fab!! I do have a bit of a thing about sequins ... love them. Don't have the legs for a mini though, not this winter anyway!!

tulpe · 01/09/2009 22:26

Fluffles, I will definitely be wearing jeans tucked into my boots (and hopefully those boots will be Bailey Button Uggs as long as Santa plays ball......)

If skinnies fill you with dread without accompanying boots, how about a really great pair of straight legs?

I am so with you on the jeggings thing

Horton · 01/09/2009 22:28

Cashmere tights sound wonderful!

PutDown · 01/09/2009 22:28

I think i will too Tulpe.Did wear them last year on occasion, but felt a bit constrained ,IFYKWIM.
Need some new skinny/stright leg jeans really.Might try New Look,as I don't want t o spend much.

fluffles · 01/09/2009 22:29

thanks tulpe, will straight legs go inside the boots without needing to be folded over or scrumpled up?

if so, they might be the answer...

tulpe · 01/09/2009 22:30

I want cashmere tights too

PutDown · 01/09/2009 22:32

Well,I sayy cashmere....they have them this year too..beautifully soft, lots of colours, cost around a tenner I think.Mine from last year seem ok still,so worth the money IMO

NervousNutty · 01/09/2009 22:32

Is anyone else lurking on here for inspiration ??

I always end up in the same old stuff from previous years despite saying I am going to buy new stuff.

janeite · 01/09/2009 22:32

Oh my - have just looked at the Noa Noa site and I want everything! Where can I find it?

PutDown · 01/09/2009 22:35

Janeie, they don't sell online themselves yet, apparently it is going to be launched next year
lots of independent boutiques do it,plus they have a few shops themselves, mainly in the south
Inis online do some,as do a few other online boutiques.
Google Noa and see what comes up!
oh,and ebay of course...

tulpe · 01/09/2009 22:36

Fluffles - depends on the cut, tbh. I have Top Shop Marthas which are straight leg rather than skinny. They definitely do not require folding over/scrumpling up to fit inside boots. They do, however, tend to require constant pulling up.....but I am long in the body so find jeans a difficult area anyway. They are a very popular choice on this forum, or so it seems to me.

Have ordered Boden straight legs (in bid to find jeans which do not expose underwear/muffin top on incredibly long-bodied woman) and hopefully they will arrive tomorrow so will report back.

allaboutme · 01/09/2009 22:36

Am stealing some ideas from this thread!

So far I have

Skinny jeans and leggings
Couple of sweater dresses
long boyfriend sweaters/cardigans
and a lush new coat

Might go for some tweedy wide leg troosers and I am loving the dress linked above from asos

janeite · 01/09/2009 22:39

Cheers Putdown.

I will mostly be wearing my usual stuff - ie: pencil skirts or fifties style skirts with fitted tops / or wide-legged trousers.

However, I have also recently bought - some slim leg black trousers / some peg ankle-length trousers / a lovely long grey open cardigan.

Now I need:

  • Tights
  • New shoes - any recs for comfortable but smart but not boring black shoes for work?
  • something loungey to change into after work
PutDown · 01/09/2009 22:39

I love Autumn clothes.

tulpe · 01/09/2009 22:40

oh yes, we need a "loungey but lovely" thread, I think

Horton · 01/09/2009 22:40

I have found Noa Noa in House of Fraser in the past, janeite, if that's any help.

janeite · 01/09/2009 22:41

Thanks Horton - never seen it in our one but will have a proper look next time I'm in there.

LetThemEatCake · 01/09/2009 22:42

Yep, Tulpe, it was M&S - £100. In the Guardian G2 yesterday, not sure if online yet.

I may have to invest in new 'good' skinnies once the baby weight is off ... I let my friend borrow mine for a night out a few months ago and said she could keep them for the duration, since I am pg and all ... and she's worn them virtually every day!!! And she's at home with 2 dcs!!! they are trashed And, dare I say it, stretched.

janeite · 01/09/2009 22:43

Tulpe - sounds good! I must admit I tend to go from normal to PJ with nothing in between.

LetThemEatCake · 01/09/2009 22:43

oh, if it's loungey yet lovely you want, check out Hush, Pyjama Room & Wellicious!!

janeite · 01/09/2009 22:44

need loungey, lovely and pretty cheap though - have told dp I need no more new clothes until Christmas!

Horton · 01/09/2009 22:46

Pyjama Room and Hush get a big thumbs up from me, too.
