Am searching for swimwear.

It's hard.

Probably a jumper. Hopefully not a cagoule.

wrongsideof40 · 15/05/2009 19:56

TK Maxx ?

EldonAve · 15/05/2009 20:35

moontide reversibles if I can face the bikini
otherwise swimsuit from figleaves (don't recall the brand)
plus beach dress cover up from tkmaxx

janeite · 15/05/2009 20:45

Last year I had a bikini with fitted cups and sort of boy-short pants plus a couple of pairs of shorts and a little sun dress.

This year I need a new bikini in the same sort of shape and I'd like a short sarong I think (was told by Cod last year that sarongs were a crime but I still think it would be more flattering than shorts).

charlieandlola · 15/05/2009 20:46

A burkha.

frAKKINPannikin · 16/05/2009 16:10

A wetsuit!

What sort of swimwear are you seeking?

TheRealMrsJohnSimm · 16/05/2009 18:38

LOL at FromGirders.

I bought some fab bikinis from TK Maxx last year. A Michael Kors one and another from Rip Curl. THey are both very well made, dont sag in places like cheaper bikinis do and were a fraction of the original price.

I wear beach dresses, shorts and vest tops, kaftans but NEVER sarong. Think they are totally hideous and make you look so much bigger than you really are.

EarlyAdopter · 16/05/2009 19:12

right you have just made me order two new bikinis from herewww.brasandhoney.com/freya-swimwear/

and have ordered a speculative tankini for when playing on beach beacuse
my stomach is worse than ever.

EarlyAdopter · 16/05/2009 19:12

Agree dresses are better and also you need to pay ££ to get a nice swimsuit

Mamazon · 16/05/2009 19:12

a tent

TheRealMrsJohnSimm · 17/05/2009 12:28

EA - in my experience, tankinis can often highlight problem tummy rather than hide it. Any I have tried on have always created a nice space for my belly to just slightly hang out of.

I have a "Julia Roberts tummy" (ie a bit crepey with a gentle sag ). For the first few days, I wear a vest top over my bikini when I am running around with DCs on beach and take off for sunbathing/swimming. Once I have a bit of colour on my tummy I really don't care and happily run around playing football etc with saggy tum on show. The key thing is to have good quality bikini - a wobbly tum is more forgivable if your ass and boobs are adequately supported

EarlyAdopter · 17/05/2009 12:38

i think i agree

MrsMattie · 17/05/2009 12:40

Hmmm. I think I am going to have to buck the trend of a lifetime and wear a swimming cozzie this year. No bikini is going to flatter my second-csection-six-mths-ago tum, methinks.

ThePhantomPlopper · 17/05/2009 15:08

I think I want a bikini, but I have a bit of crêpey skin around my belly button which isn't too pleasant.

Yes sarongs are not good.

OP posts:
janeite · 17/05/2009 15:11

Are sarongs really that bad? I mean one that is mini skirt length?

Otherwise, what are the alternatives to shorts please? I had one little sun dress last year but really just wanted something to pop on with the bikini top.

ThePhantomPlopper · 17/05/2009 15:20

What about a kaftan?

I have loads but don't really like them either TBH they are good for throwing on when walking to beach/pool on holiday.

OP posts:
janeite · 17/05/2009 15:22

All the kaftans I've seen have got sleeves. It was so hot last year I deffo didn't want anything with sleeves! Also they make norks look humongous.

EldonAve · 17/05/2009 16:11

topshop beach cover ups
monsoon kaftans
monsoon beach dress

TheRealMrsJohnSimm · 17/05/2009 17:52

I bought a sleeveless red beach dress and a strapless one from Next last year. Hang on.....will look and see what they have this year. THey were very cheap but such nice quality (I wear the red one now layered up with t-shirt and jeans).

Agree, depending on cut of kaftan can make norks looks mahoosive in a very unflattering way. However, something slim cut with fitted sleeves rather than bell sleeves would be fine.

I also wear a denim mini to and from the beach.......an item which I would not usually wear in public outside of the back garden But with a pair of flip flops and a basic vest top I think they look fine.

EarlyAdopter · 17/05/2009 18:05

straplesss make me look like a bulgarian weight lifter

hf128219 · 17/05/2009 18:08

Nothing

TheRealMrsJohnSimm · 17/05/2009 18:22

LOL EA!

Can't find any beach dresses on Next site yet. But they definitely have them in stores already.

EarlyAdopter · 17/05/2009 18:47

I agree a vest t shirt and pants isa good look
the KEY is a bra that fits and a COLOUR that suits
when you are on the beach its the colour and tits you notice if they are bad

EarlyAdopter · 17/05/2009 18:54

htis just DOESNT fit her

themoon66 · 17/05/2009 19:03

I'm thinking of buying a couple of these in different colours.
