Am searching for swimwear.

It's hard.

Given that 'the beach' will be somewhere windswept and bracing on the west coast of Scotland, no bikini for me! (Am deeply envious of everyone going somewhere warmer - which won't be hard, let's face it.) I shall be wearing jeans, shirt and possibly a fleece.

Fear bikini days are over. 'Crepey' doesn't really cover it. Think kangaroo pouch with interesting white and purple striations.

I have this, in green, it's great and it's half cotton, so it's thick and holds you in amazingly.

Sunshinemummy · 18/05/2009 12:04

Gap have a great new swimwear range.

Also American Apparel do some great towelling dresses which are fantastic to put on when you're wet.

Overmydeadbody · 18/05/2009 12:10

If I'm lucky, nothing.

If I'm unlucky, a raincoat

zanz1bar · 18/05/2009 20:44

Need swimwear by saturday , had ordered online with debenhams, just recieved a letter saying out of stock.

I will be wearing the old faithful maternity cossy AGAIN, the blue one with the stripe from mothercare 2003.

NO i am not pregnant, the stomach muscles have gone, but at least i look like i should be in that costume, not just too much choc.dammit.

chatname · 19/05/2009 04:58

By the way, can anyone explain what "ditsy" and "dobby" mean when applied to the patterns on fabric in online garment descriptions eg ditsy and "dobby" seemed to be everywhere on the bravissimo site but I can't find it now...

PS if they mean "floral", why can't they just say so?

LadyG · 19/05/2009 08:09

West Wales so cut off jeans and a nice warm hoodie. DC and DP will be similarly wrapped up warm. In fact I'm wondering if DD actually needs a warm coat (she's grown out of hers and I was trying to put off buying her a new one 'til end of summer.) Very relieved NOT to have to try and look glam. Even a one-piece is not adequate atm (size 10 everywhere but horrid post baby belly.) Might have to invest in one of these just in case of good weather these but a bit at the price.

Sunshinemummy · 19/05/2009 11:10

LadyG we're off to Aberaeron next week. Never been before so not sure what to expect - assume cold weather? DS has a wetsuit so he'll be wearing that.

Joggler · 19/05/2009 12:33

Right my order arrived today.
the freya coconut grove(!) one is FAB, colours less wishy washy in rl and the " pants" are lovely

ThePhantomPlopper · 19/05/2009 12:35

TheRealMrsJohnSimm · 19/05/2009 15:11

Me neither PP. I want the Vodkatini or Vodkachaser bikini but starts at a D cup

TheRealMrsJohnSimm · 19/05/2009 15:12

Am loving the blue halter neck Joggler. Very glam and such a lovely colour - with or without tan

Joggler · 19/05/2009 15:13

I know i tried the grey spotty one on and it looked terrible though - colour was really bad on my skin.

bleh · 19/05/2009 15:20

I'm going to wear bikinis, with kaftan-y things or a long maxi dress to cover up. And lots of headscarves (as I lost my hat. I'm hoping with BIG sunglasses I'll look chic. Not nutty).

My tip is: have a cover up which you can put on over your head, rather than having to deal with sandy feet=sandy everything problem.

Joggler · 19/05/2009 15:37

how do head cover ups stop sandy feet?

Joggler · 19/05/2009 15:37

also think you might look liek a 1970s art teacher?

noddyholder · 19/05/2009 15:40

Plain black bikini with bra sized top and tie side bottoms. White or black thin tunics flip flops fake tan vests for going to cafe to get drinks etc don't want to shock anyone!Bravissimo great if you have big boobs

Joggler · 19/05/2009 15:42

NO NO noddoid

no to black
( although likey the rest)
i find bravissimo often have SMALL TINY skimpy pants that make me look liek a funnel

bleh · 19/05/2009 15:46

Rather than having to put your sandy feet through shorts/skirt/whatever, you just pull the dress over the top IYSWIM?

Good point about the 70s art teacher. I'm just hoping that the look is in this summer.

noddyholder · 19/05/2009 15:46

Already have it!And it looks fab although like that spotted one in JL Might get it too.Have a dark chocolate one piece but tried it on and its a bit porno don'yt know what I was thinking tbh its going to the charity shop.Black if its a good shape and you have a tan looks good but has to fit well.Colour looks crap on me

Joggler · 19/05/2009 15:46

oh i see! god you are god
