i am looking for a decent moisturiser that will help my stringy neck and make me look 10 years younger (ha ha)

in all the papers there are articles about the Boots serum that everyone went mad for a year or so ago

news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/8022644.stm

they are launching an improved version

has anyone tried the serum? is it as good as they reckon?

The strongest retinol product you can get is Skinceuticals 0.5%. Costs a million bucks but people actually notice the difference!

But it is soooo good that you have to be really careful with sun protection. Basically it takes the top layer of skin off!

I don't care as long as I look younger!

TheScatterGunApproach · 29/04/2009 20:40

Should say you can get without a prescription - and in the US they have a 1% but couldnt find it here. Prob for the best becasue it must be like paint stripper.

hi all, thanks for all comments. i went to Boots and asked a lovely assistant and she said the new one coming out today is for deeper more established wrinkles and she kindly said 'you are nowhere near ready for that yet'

(i think she was fooled as i had my 4 year old DD with me - i didnt tell her i was an aging old mum of 43!!)

anyway i bought the original one Protect and Perfect i think its called for £18 and its really nice - my skin is like silk today

it does say - as mentioned by others here- that it needs a day or night cream after applying the serum but i am just using that for now, in case of any reactions. honestly, my face is so smooth today, i am v impressed already, my make up went on over it really well

newgirl · 30/04/2009 14:40

roc fans - if i go and buy one which one should i get for the day - i dont have wrinkles yet but i do have some spots and sun spots

sorry for sharing

La Roche Posay -saw the whole range in Boots Cambridge today -have not tried it though.

I have completely messed up my skin using the OCM -now have horrible red spots under the skin on my chin.

This usually happens if I have a facial so I should have known better.Usually takes months to clear up

I got some Roc Retin-Ox Boots had a day/night cream combo for £34 ish -very good value

macherie · 30/04/2009 20:13

Newgirl there is a ROC retin ox day cream with spf.

NoBingoWings, hopefully the retin-ox will sort out the spots. I had a similar experience when I used Eve Loms cleanser - I had the worst spots of my life, and retin-ox cleared them up.

newgirl · 30/04/2009 20:54

roc retin ox day cream with spf sounds perfect thanks macherie

macherie: for RoC vs. LRP, which would you recommend for sunscreen?

macherie · 01/05/2009 13:34

LPR Anthelios is the sunscreen dermatologists love

here

I use the fluid for my face, it's light and non-greasy.

Thanks!

NoBingoWings · 04/05/2009 09:36

macherie

Just wanted to say Thanks -you are a genius
Three days of using the Roc-Retinox and my spots are clearing up and my skin looks really smooth. I got some money for my birthday so I got another set and some of the LRP sunscreen
Will not be trying the OCM again

whodathoughtit · 04/05/2009 09:44

NoBingoWings - did the oil cleansing method give you the bad spots then? Just interested as I have been doing that myself for a few days and am a bit panicked!

I love the original P&P, best £18 you can spend on the high street imo.

NoBingoWings · 04/05/2009 10:14

whodathoughtit

Yes it did -was very disappointed

I have had awful hormonal spots on my chin for the past 30 years-now 43 but got them under control a couple of years ago by doing the exact opposite of what I had been doing before ie no scrubbing , no deep cleansing just simple cleansing and a dab of spot cream if anything popped up
It took a while but eventually my skin balanced itself out and has been very clear over the last 2 years.

I think it was the massage element of the OCM
that caused all the spots under the skin-very envious of those it worked for though

macherie · 04/05/2009 20:14

nobingowings, I'm really pleased it has worked for you, my skin has been great since I started using retin-ox, I've been spot free{smile]

PieMistress · 10/06/2009 19:31

Is it safe to use Protect & Perfect serum during pregnancy if it contains retinol? I've been reading conflicting things on the net (as always!!) x

Justcallmereallystupid · 10/06/2009 20:56

Machermie please can you send me a link to the Redermic Vitamin C nthat helped you get rid of your freckles .....

brimfull · 10/06/2009 21:10

I have used the protect and perfect for about 4 weeks and haven't noticed any improvement or difference
