has anyone tried the Boots Protect and Perfect serum they are raving about?

i am looking for a decent moisturiser that will help my stringy neck and make me look 10 years younger (ha ha)

in all the papers there are articles about the Boots serum that everyone went mad for a year or so ago

they are launching an improved version

has anyone tried the serum? is it as good as they reckon?

I haven't tried the new version, only the original one. One of the ingredients that makes the serum work so well is retinol, but ROC intensive anti-wrinkle serum has a higher concentration of retinol than the original P&P serum.

My friend is a dermatologist so I get good, free, skincare advice from her. A couple of years ago I had the most dreadful spots on my chin, I got rid of one and two arrived in it's place. She told me to use the ROC and the result was amazing , the spots just disappeared within days, no scars or any trace of them left.

A few months ago when I went to buy some more, boots had a 3 for 2 on it's P&P range, but within a week I had a spot, so I abandoned it and went back to ROC, no spots since.

Retinol is magic IMO, as it works against spots and wrinkles, but skin can be sensitive to it, so the advice is to start with a weaker concentration and build up. It's best to use it at night as it can make you skin more sensitive to sunlight.

I have used the original version.

I like it.

So much so I went out and bought the day and the night cream. Its not very expensive, especially if you can get it on a 3 for 2.

Great, I really think ROC is brilliant stuff, and another french brand La Roche Posay. A few years ago we spent a year in Australia, and despite using spf 50, I came home with lots of freckles on my forehead and my hands. I used LRP cream called Redermic C, which is a serum high in vit C and the freckles disappeared.

These brands might not spend a fortune on glossy advertising, but they make really good products that work!

LRP make an great sunsreen called Anthelios XL, dermatologists love it, it uses a different ingredient from most sunblocks, which is really effective. It comes in a fluid for the face which is great with or without foundation.

Maybe I should look for a commission from the French skincare industry

The serum they are talking about at the moment isn't actually all that new - it is actually Refine & Rewind Intense Serum, which I have used and quite liked. They are going to rebrand it as Protect & Perfect intense.

I have been using Protect and Perfect, the standard one, for over a year. I have never had so many compliments about my skin, I do look young for my age anyway and have good skin, but since using the serum I have never had so many compliments. People have said that my skin looks wonderful and luminous, I am regularly taken for being in my early thirties and will be 45 in September. I am not going to change to the stronger serum yet, as a beautician I know said it is better to have something to move up to when your skin needs it.

Macherie, you can't get LRP in the UK. I've googled and googled. You can't get it shipped here either.

I think you'll make millions if you start a supply company for LRP to UK. We're deprived!

Macherie - the brown pigment thing interested me, as I have chloasma left over from my last pg (my dd is over 2 and a half) - I googled and came up with this - is this the stuff you mean?

I have used the old Boots one religiously since the hype- and I too have had compliments about my skin and find it really seems to smooth is and give it an oomph.
My Mum has recently been won over by Boots Age rewind serum, which she likes even more...
Might give the ROC one a bash next....

I use the original one and I like it. Might try the new one too.

But it's a serum - you do need to put moisturiser on top of it.

Oh, and back to the Refine & Rewind (or Protect & Perfect) - I got it as a complimentary gift with No 7 cosmetics which I use. I tried it out cautiously, as I am now mainly using natural and organic face cream and cleanser after my skin changed completely and became sensitive during and after I was pg with dd.

The serum did make a difference when I wore it under my usual cream - I thought it might have been the silicone or whatever in it which gave a temporary cosmetic sheen to the skin.

I do believe that avoiding products containing alcohol and parabens helps reduce superficial dryness and wrinkling, and sticking to more natural products seems to have helped me more than anything. However, I'm genetically blessed with young looking skin anyway.

I'd still like to find something effective to get rid of the chloasma though. I don't know if any natural remedies would help.

Hoppybird, that is the stuff, well worth a try for cholasma, I'd say.

Brenda, that one is from a different range, this is the day version on the Boots site, and this is the serum. I have bought it at boots, but it's not on their site.

The night cream might be good to start off, with that's how I did it, the I moved on to the serum. The next step up from that is Retin A which is on prescription, but I'll leave that for a while as my skin is great with the serum.

It's a shame that you can't La Roche Posay in the UK, if you can get it online it's well worth trying, particularly the sunscreen.

I wonder how I'd go about importing it to the UK?

I've never tried Roc... tried everything else though!
I do love the boots refine and rewind, I brought a small sample set from ebay in a little purse along with some face creams. will definately get some more when its gone.

Agree 100% with whoever said it earlier on: Roc is the very best skincare range, ever.

I am 46 and people always guess my age at 10 years younger. Tis because I use Roc. And good genes.

(And I am 20lb a few pounds overweight too [blush).
