farkin nora
I am 47 and i don't think it bridges that gap at all! I shop in Whistles and Jigsaw and in store dept like Day Birger Mickelson and Gap and H&M and Hobbs and LK Bennett.

I think people buy from them because it is very safe. No one is going to say - Gosh that Boden is too young for you but the flouffy colours make people think it is stylish and youthful

I shop in those places, too, Pagwatch.

And have seen many many 20 and 30 somethings in Boden...

Boden is hardly Windsmoor.

Bodybag - people buy it because they like it, presumably.

You don't...so..don't.

BodyBagBastard · 14/01/2009 19:03

What's your clothes taste, Bodybag?

i like femine girly sexy clothes.

OP posts:
Blu · 14/01/2009 19:08

Tarty crap then?

BodyBagBastard · 14/01/2009 19:09

no
nice stuff

can't stand boden abd all it stands for

AnyFucker · 14/01/2009 19:16

what does Boden "stand for" other than a slightly frumpy and middle-aged ladies trying-to-be-girly clothes shop ????

Notreallycutoutforthis · 14/01/2009 19:17

I loathe Boden - their clothes always reminds me of the 'Clothkits' stuff Mum used to make us wear in the 70s [shudder]

electra · 14/01/2009 19:17

I only buy the children's stuff. Have never seen anything for me that I would buy in there - it's dull and expensive to boot.

Jazzicatz · 14/01/2009 19:20

Well I like Boden clothes. They are not the height of fashion but they do provide some good staple items. I do think the new Spring range is a bit of a shocker and the quality is not as good as it use to be.

ssd · 14/01/2009 19:22

I got one of their catalogues in a magazine once, the captions beside the models pictures made me puke

"Becky - loves blue skies"

boak

llareggub · 14/01/2009 19:27

I don't mind admitting I like Boden and have bought clothes there.

Like any shop, I like some stuff, dislike other stuff and am ambivalent about the rest. I buy clothes I like, not the label.

That's why I have clothes from all over the place.

SheherazadetheGoat · 14/01/2009 19:31

i have some boden clothes and i love sneering at the catalog.

it over priced and some of it is fuddy duddy.

where do you buy your clothes?

scampadoodle · 14/01/2009 19:46

Well, I'm in my 40s but not fuddy-duddy & I like some Boden stuff. Nobody else does knee-length A-line skirts & they are a really flattering shape which can be funked up quite easily depending on what you wear with them.

I can't stand pseudo-surfer-chic places like Fat Face.

SheherazadetheGoat · 14/01/2009 19:55

i agree fat face et al make me nauseous with the fakey surf boards and faux wackiness.

Niecie · 14/01/2009 20:40

Anyway, who really dresses head to toe in any clothing range all the time? Boden are good for the basic, classic shapes. If I could afford them I would have a look but I don't want to look like a clone of any shop so I wouldn't wear a Boden top with Boden bottoms for example. You have to mix it up a bit.

It isn't made up of mostly black or grey with a few coloured tops thrown in. I can't bear that sort of shop so I rarely find anything in Next or Zara both of whom I would think justify the 'fuddy duddy rubbish' label a great deal more than Boden.

llareggub · 14/01/2009 20:50

I'm not keen on Fat Face either.

As I said, I buy stuff from Boden, and also buy quite a bit from Monsoon, M&S, Kew and Laura Ashley. I also like Betty Jackson Black in Debenhams. I used to find things in Kaliko I liked, and last year picked some bits up in Principles.

At the moment I am wearing maternity clothes from Isabella Oliver and M&S, so pretty restricted on the clothes front.

I don't care if people see my choices as middle aged crap, I dress to please myself not anybody else.

Ruby2shoes · 14/01/2009 20:59

I quite happily admit I like Boden, with you there Scamp re the skirts.

I?m not a fuddy duddy, I think it just depends on how you wear things and how you mix and match your wardrobe and accessorise.

If I ever see someone at the school gates wearing something I?ve seen in the catalogue, I steer clear.

(Or wear it at the weekends!!!)

paolosgirl · 14/01/2009 21:06

What the hell are feminine girly sexy clothes???

Be a bit more specific please...maybe a link to said sexy outfit? Then we can all decide if you do in fact favour tarty crap despite your protestations

downbutnotout · 14/01/2009 21:07

with you there llareggub, I heart Betty Jackson Black.

dexter73 · 14/01/2009 21:22

It is quite middle aged but so is the top you said that you have on this thread! People wear what they find suits them and that can be from any store, be it Boden or Tesco.

schprooz · 14/01/2009 21:24

I loathe the captions, but the boys trousers and sweatshirts are often nice and last through 3 boys so quite good value. I've bought quite a few things for mine. Would never buy anything for me or dh, ever, I think the adult range is really naff.

Lauriefairycake · 14/01/2009 21:27

I'm half way through my life cycle and I like dressing simply in the crappy clothes.

And?

Ingles2 · 14/01/2009 21:29

I buy quite a lot of boden for the boys, it's good quality, it washes well, fits well and the tops have much nicer graphics than next etc. wouldn't dream of buying it for me or dh though. mind you I haven't worn a skirt since 1998.
