How many of you wear make up every day?

I don'y, mostly because I'm lazy but also because I'm lucky that my skin is fairly good and I've never felt the need to cover it up. So I've never got in the habit.

Anyway, now I'm mid-30s, hit the dizzy heights of middle management, and not looking so hot (being 18 weeks pregnant). Is now the time to start making the effort? And what is the bare minimum I can get away with (and look better, iykwim)?

I do wear make up when I go out, and am pretty competent (if slightly conservative) at application, and I'm quite happy to buy decent brands.

Thought and suggestions? Thanks all!

Always mascara (black volumising no particular brand choice) and lip balm (lipstick doesn't suit me and I have quite full lips anyway)

Concealer on any red bots (Boots NO7)

Usually touch of blush (benefit throb)

If i'm in the mood I use urban decay 24/7 eyeliner ( I have 5 different colours best I've ever found)

I feel and look more sorted with a bit of slap but will happily go bare faced at the gym. (am 36 with very pale but clear skin)

sagacious · 30/11/2008 22:03

I don't have a red bot BTW, possibly red bits...

glitterball · 30/11/2008 22:21

i wear it every day for work, only at weekends if im going out.

usually consists of

foundation (in winter) - max factor (or chanel if im feeling flush!)

eyebrow pencil/eyeliner/blusher - no particular brand, have found rimmel as good as the more expensive ones!

i second the volumising mascara- my current fave is max factor masterpiece (think thats what its called )

and always lip gloss/balm - esp at this time of year cos otherwise my lips get really dry.

(im also 36 btw)

GooberKingWenceslas · 30/11/2008 22:25

Foundation, eyeliner, lipstick everyday.

southeastastra · 30/11/2008 22:26

yes all the time since i was 15

Miyazaki · 30/11/2008 22:29

I think we are the same person. I wear Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser, have good skin, this just makes me look done and glowy. I use a prescriptives concealer on under eye, then eyeshadow, mascara (blinc - I rub my eyes a lot and this never smudges), lip gloss, benefit highlighter on brow bone and cheekbones. And it's not a lot, just done.

I pretty much only do this at work, weekend days usually make up free unless event.

mrsmaidamess · 30/11/2008 22:32

I have started to wear none at the weekends (but only if I'm not going out)

My ds (5) asked me why I had a face like a Grandma.

So thats why I wear make up the rest of the time.

southeastastra · 30/11/2008 22:33

i look better with less and less now though

random · 30/11/2008 22:34

Yes everyday ..would not leave the house without mascara and eyeliner

thumbwitch · 30/11/2008 22:37

normally none;
mascara, a bit of lippy and eyeshadow, eyebrow pencil and some concealer/foundation if nec when I go out or to a do.

I always used to wear eyeliner every day when I was 15; then graduated onto mascara and always wore that every day until it started to make my eyes itch (around the same time that my contact lenses started to irritate as well).

Now I find that I actually look older with make up on. Scary.

giddykipper · 30/11/2008 22:40

Yep, every day.

Foundation - Chanel Vitalumiere
Blusher (just moved on from bronzer)
Mascara
Sometimes a bit of eyeliner
Sometimes a bit of neutral lipstick or lipgloss

Used to wear undereye concealer until I worked out that it was making my skin incredibly dry, so now I just live with dark circles

dinny · 30/11/2008 22:41

yes, unless running late (which happens a lot atm as am tired and preggers)

I usually wear a bit of light foundation, mascara and Vaseline on eyebrows and lips

I wear more if at work or going out

PerkinWarbeck · 30/11/2008 22:42

I wear almost make-up everyday, but since havng DD I have got it down to the bare essentials, which for me are mascara and blusher. sometimes add a bit of lipgloss. takes about 2 mins, and makes me feel a bbit better about myself, though TBH I bet no-one else would notice a difference.

clarebear1 · 30/11/2008 22:52

yep foundation, bronzer and mascara every day and a bit of eyeliner if the sun is shining!

honestfriend · 30/11/2008 22:53

me- all day every day.

Full works- foundation, concealer, eye pencil, shadow, mascara, blusher, lippie.
won't be seen without it as very pale and got purple under eye shadows!

Takes me 10 minutes in the morning.

Coagulate · 30/11/2008 22:54

Of course.
why wouldnt you - apart from sloth?

Tortington · 30/11/2008 22:55

i can't be fucked - i occasionally don lipstick - v. occasionally.

lifes too short, and sleep and coffee anre so much more important.

BecauseImWorthIt · 30/11/2008 22:56

No.

Have my eyelashes dyed, and occasionally might curl them.

If it's a really important meeting, I might curl them, put some concealer on any blemishes and then some lipstick/gloss.

I'm 49 and reckon I look OK without it.

squeaver · 30/11/2008 22:59

No. Used to be only when going out - even when I was in a full-on job.

But lately I've been thinking I can't keep exposing the ageing hag features to the world day in day ot.

DontCallMeBaby · 30/11/2008 23:02

Most days, although I've made a point of not allowing myself to get to the 'won't leave the house without it' stage. Bare minimum is powder, but I usually wear foundation and eye shadow as well. Mascara if I can be bothered (have fab eyelashes naturally, yay!), never blusher and lipstick very very occasionally (although I am never without a lip balm).

I don't like being shiney, hence the powder, and blotchy comes a close second, hence the foundation. It's not that long ago that I was just naturally non-blotchy though, sigh.

Cocodrillo · 30/11/2008 23:13

I wear it most days, except weekend staying-in lazy days.

Boots No 7 foundation and under-eye dark circle concealer, blusher, highlighter, neutral eyeshadow, liquid eyeliner, volumizing mascara. Lipstick sometimes - Max Factor stay on one. I look a zillion times better with it on than off.

hunnybun1981 · 30/11/2008 23:15

very little during the day but wear more for work

skramble · 30/11/2008 23:16

I put on foundation most days and curl my eyelashes. I have a blothcy face with acne scarring and dark patches, so I feel I look a bit shit, people always say I look tired. Thanks!! so thats why I curl my eyelashes to open my eyes up a bit and look a bit more awake.

If I am working I tend to had mascarra to hold lashes and a bit of conceler.

Going out (whens the next blue moon?) I will add eyeshadow and liner.
