Hello everyone, old and new.

This is about feeling better about yourself and looking and feeling better etc. But mainly we chat and laugh quite a lot, which has all got to help towards happiness etc.

The rules (anyone can join):

  • Sunscreen at all times - REALLY mean this now summer is here.
  • No or little booze. Wine or Champagne or whatever at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

Some people are doing India and Neris's Idiot Proof Diet (Atkins, more or less), others are doing Slimy World, others are just being as healthy as possible.

Welcome everyone, have a good week.

Cappuccino · 24/08/2008 13:18

unknownrebelbang · 24/08/2008 14:37

Just dashing through to say we all loved London!

Marina · 24/08/2008 18:44

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 24/08/2008 18:51

Oh that's nice Marina.

[I only got a C at O'level]

Marina · 24/08/2008 21:41

Sorry saggars
We went to France, I ate madeleines, it rained less than here but it was not uber-beachy weather, we had a good time, the gite was fab apart from the fact that the previous tenants had a dog which had not been flea-treated and the SODS had let the creature on the beds and sofas...this is the first time in 15 days I've not got itchy feet and legs and I react badly to insect bites, so my ankles look a right mess
At one point ds had 72 fleabites on him
We don't have pets so it took us a while to work out what was going on and then of course we saw the tiny feckers everywhere
The gite owner was horrified and apologetic, she had no idea they had broken the rules about dogs
It was a nice house otherwise and we can unreservedly recommend the Cotentin coast - lovely unspoiled resorts and countryside, lots to do, and, after two crappy summers in N Europe, it was deserted in mid August (well, not crowded, anyway).
How has bootcamp been? How is everyone? I have been a Bad Girl.

oi · 24/08/2008 21:44

ooh batters, we also did a bit of travelodging. I wonder if we were ever in the same one!

glad you had a nice time marina but EEEk at the fleas. They are such vile things.

have you noticed on the weather forecast, that it is forecast to be SUNNY from Tuesday onwards grr? How bloody well dare it piss down for most of my holiday and THEN get sunny once I'm back at work.

WideWebWitch · 25/08/2008 07:56

Oh WELCOME back Marina and what a pita about the fleas, how horrible.

I was v v bad last night as we had friends over
managed no roast potatoes or parsnips or carby veg but then ate a cookie with white chocolate and raspberry ice cream AND had cheese with port, I'd forgotten how lovely it is with some blue cheese.

Loads of wine, buckets of it. But it was a lovely afternoon and I was prob in bed by 10pm.

Yesterday I had cereal x 2, coffee & croissant, roast chicken, pots, lots of veg, apple, raw carrots, cream cheese sandwiches, blueberry muffin (as made by me & DD2, she's very good for a 3yo!).

Bit of a cook-fest yesterday, the roast chicken leftovers have already been turned into 2 pots of chicken & sweetcorn soup and 1 casserole dish of Catalan Chicken with chorizo, peppers, paprika etc. There is even some leg meat for the dog (who doesn't have fleas). Sympathies for that marina, I also react badly to insect bites, horseflies being my absolute bete noir.

Mucking out for exercise, tis hard work y'know! I've just done another 2 barrows, less hot and fewer flies this early. Just topping up my water and then I'm going for a short run.

Nothing planned for today. Perhaps a spot of gardening slashing & burning.

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 25/08/2008 08:42

lol - I was joking Marina. I got most of it (thanks google) but didn't get the fleas. Google translated it as 'bullets' - I was thinking, lordy where is she, Afghanistan?

Cappuccino · 25/08/2008 08:45

aw, would you look at the bleedin' weather

we were thinking about camping this week but I am not doing it in a bog

I was being so good yesterday with my homemade fishcakes and then dh went to the shop and brought back chocolate, and opened beer

however I am feeling a bit better today than yesterday so I might go for a soggy 30 min walk

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 25/08/2008 08:47

arf @ 'bullets'.

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 25/08/2008 08:49

Tis dry here so far Capp - mind you, it always starts like that. Lulls you into a false sense of security and the minute you're away from home with no brolly the heavens open.

I have finally cleaned, dried and repaired our (little used) tent following ds2's festival trip. It won't be seeing the light of day 'til next year now.

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 25/08/2008 08:49

Morning capp - WATER and try a 1 minute run on your walk, will get you out of the soggy rain quicker. The sun is out here.

Cappuccino · 25/08/2008 08:52

oh Saggars tell me about it

the other day I went for a walk and just when I was at the point of no return, a thunderstorm broke out

lightning, sheeting rain, the whole works, and me in linen trousers and a camisole top

when I got home my hair, my arms, my clothes, were pouring with water and dh brought the kids out of bed to laugh at me

I never knew it was possible to get so wet. It took two days for my trainers to dry.

WideWebWitch · 25/08/2008 08:53

Oh I LOVE this weather, the drizzlier the better, I want to walk in it.

Dof, Catalan chicken sounds gorgeous, is it easy to make? I have leftover chicken and chorizo and paprika etc

lol at bullets too.

Capp, DRINK WATER, DO YOGA

OP posts:
Cappuccino · 25/08/2008 09:00

of course you have leftover chorizo

I see your house being like the one in Hansel and Gretel, WWW, but made out of cheese and smoked sausage

Cappuccino · 25/08/2008 09:00

oh okay yes, I am going to do yoga NOW

the kids are entertaining themselves

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 25/08/2008 09:04

www - Catalan Chicken is very easy - fry some onion & peppers, toss in some sliced chorizo and chunks of cooked chicken, add paprika & black pepper, throw in a tin of chopped tomatoes and a tin of drained chick peas OR cannellini beans (or similar). And then put the casserole dish in a low oven for a couple of hours to soften up the beans. I eat mine with carbs!

WideWebWitch · 25/08/2008 09:25

Thanks DofN and lol Capp, like this but fewer fruits

Thank you Batters, yes dd has a place in the scholarship set. Which is great as she worked hard last year.

This is where the hard work really starts though as the papers are taken in the Lent term of Year 8 so in reality we she only has 4 terms to do everything.
The slog has begun with the History master sending a paper through the post to give in on the first day of term: about 70 questions

Also History and English reading lists as long as your arm

Its like work I did in 5th Form of Grammar school
