Looking for a unicorn pair of winter boots

Hello S&B experts. I live in trainers but find them a bit cold sometimes in winter. I am looking for flat boots to wear but I think I have ruined my ability to wear anything except trainers. My feet have got used to the lightweight “spongy” feel of trainers so even flat boots feel heavy and and hard on my soles like walking on planks of wood (if that makes sense!)

I have a pair of old classic Timberlands that I really like but they feel very heavy to wear if I was to walk around in them for more than an hour.

So anyone got suggestions for flat boots that feel lightweight-ish, are warm, feel padded and springy and look stylish??

Think boots to wear with jeans that I could walk about town for a couple of hours in. Everything I see online are just those Paver or Hotter boots that just look (sorry going to have to say it) granny-ish (they do look really comfy though!!)

Help wise Women of S&B!

Check out Penelope Chilvers.

I have last season's version of these. Comfy, light and you already know you find Timberlands comfortable.

I remember those first time round. Not at that extortionate price though.

Fly London boots are AMAZING! You can literally take them out of the box & walk 10 miles in them, they’re that comfortable! I wouldn’t buy any other brand now!

Lanx for me this year. Much lighter than DMs and very comfy.

Damn it.. I clicked on this thread because I too would l love an actual pair unicorn boots! I love unicorns despite being a 54 year old menopausal woman

Really? I've never seen unicorn used in that way. I'm not being funny here because I only know it in the mythological creature, or heraldry or sexual connotation butI did wonder when I saw the thread title if you only actualky had one leg.
Anyway I hope you get sone good suggestions on your theead OP.

Not sure if anyone has replied yet, but used in this context it's something that is rare and might not exist

MrsUrdd · 18/10/2026 11:33

I'm looking for the same. Have shortlisted a fotflop pair.
I have additional criteria of having wide feet and wanting brown.

OP did actually give me an explanation but thank you for this. It's not a usage I knew actually and I find it quite interesting.

Blundstones are comfy and hard wearing and I like the way they look. Unfortunately the price has skyrocketed of late but you might find some on Vinted. I use arch supports and sheepskin liners in mine and barely take them off from autumn to spring.

StandingStones · 18/10/2026 15:14

I have recently bought two pairs of boots. One pair from M&S with 'insolia' insoles, and one pair more than double the price from Whistles. The M&S ones are much, much more comfortable than the Whistles ones!

I like blundstone, mine are so comfy and light

I second this, I love my Blundstones. Can wear them on the side of a muddy football pitch but also to work - they’re perfect

VioletsTale · 18/10/2026 15:57

A bit left field and I doubt they’d pass the stylish requirements , but what about the UGG trainers? Lined, warm , incredibly comfortable and they’re trainers.

Also Moshulu are a Devon based, family run, independent company and apparently some of their footwear is still manufactured in the UK.

The sexual connotation is using it in the same way… a unicorn is something so hard to find it might be mythical. Aka the single female swinger OR OPs boots that feel like trainers.

Fitflop are good, they make stylish, comfortable boots: https://www.fitflop.com/uk/en/

Edited to add that I quite like the look of their Chelsea boots :)

couple of good options on Moshula website that seem to fit the bill for what I am looking for - thanks everyone who recommended this brand. Will continue to explore the other brands as well!

I love the Gabor high top trainers for winter (or DM Chelsea boots). As comfy as trainers but water proof. Not sure would work in ice conditions but you’ve not asked for that !
can get in John Lewis etc as well as online - usually on sale somewhere so not usually this expensive but well worth it (my current pair has lasted a few years so far).

These!! I can't recommend them enough. My favourite winter boots I've ever had.
Dh loves his too.

Blundstone boots are extremely comfortable and not too heavy. They also do a thermal boot for extra warmth.

Trallala · 19/10/2026 12:38

I buy boots half a size bigger for winter and add really squishy gel sports insoles. The best insoles were some I got from Lidl but there are plenty of others around, you can pay more for Dr School but the ones around a fiver are just as good. They give good cushioning and a bit of arch support. The extra half size (not so easy to find nowadays, I admit) leaves room for some cosy socks as well.

I have three pairs of Moshulu boots and I have just added a comfy liner to them as I do find the sole quite hard after hours of wearing, especially following summer when my feet have been in trainers or lovely soft flip flops. I really like them but they're not the lightest of boots.

Mine are the lace-up brogue-type boots with a thinner sole - I'm sure the ones with thicker, rubber soles will be more comfortable.

outerspacepotato · 19/10/2026 12:49

Yet another vote for Blundstones. I put buffalo wool insoles in mine. I wear them a lot and my last pair lasted 8 years. The only problem with them is the cobblers won't resole them, if the sole breaks down they're done.
