Looking for a unicorn pair of winter boots

Hello S&B experts. I live in trainers but find them a bit cold sometimes in winter. I am looking for flat boots to wear but I think I have ruined my ability to wear anything except trainers. My feet have got used to the lightweight “spongy” feel of trainers so even flat boots feel heavy and and hard on my soles like walking on planks of wood (if that makes sense!)

I have a pair of old classic Timberlands that I really like but they feel very heavy to wear if I was to walk around in them for more than an hour.

So anyone got suggestions for flat boots that feel lightweight-ish, are warm, feel padded and springy and look stylish??

Think boots to wear with jeans that I could walk about town for a couple of hours in. Everything I see online are just those Paver or Hotter boots that just look (sorry going to have to say it) granny-ish (they do look really comfy though!!)

Help wise Women of S&B!

Ive got these. Despite being chunky, they are so light weight & comfortable.

Thoroughly recommend them

Really? I've never seen unicorn used in that way. I'm not being funny here because I only know it in the mythological creature, or heraldry or sexual connotation butI did wonder when I saw the thread title if you only actualky had one leg.
Anyway I hope you get sone good suggestions on your theead OP.

Didn’t explain it fully - by unicorn I mean finding what (to me!) seems impossible/never seen/stuff of legends - not that unicorns are warm, light and comfy!

If you can afford it, go for the Penny Chilvers ones. It may depend on the shape of your foot but I am an average to wide 5 and her shoes are butter soft, well structured and last extremely well. Worth every penny.

I have the wool lined Penelope Chilvers ankle tassel boots. They are very expensive but often very much reduced in the sale. These boots are superblyt comfortable and will last forever.

Now I'm completely confused! What possible sexual connotation is attached to Unicorn? Let alone the one leg reference 🤔

Embassy London do beautiful platform ankle boots. I have a pair that are really comfortable and get loads of compliments.

FieldofMusic · 17/10/2026 18:12

It might be worth looking at Fitflop boots OP, they look chunky but the way they are constructed makes them really light.

A trainer-like pair of hiking boots?

I've had Hi Tec snow boots that were as comfortable (and looked like) trainers. Liked them so much, I bought multiples when I found them at a good price. They were great until my dog took a shine to them and chewed the tops and laces off!
More recently I found a pair of skechers boots that looked a lot like Timberlands. They feel like trainers also.

I’ve a pair of Heavenly Feet Lite Soles, which feel like wearing trainers - very light and comfy sole, despite looking chunky. Even the cashier in the shop
commented on how light they are when she went to scan them. www.humphriesshoes.co.uk/alana2/p22697?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=1080782393&gbraid=0AAAAAD1crAJTIfrcSlmWTklo4Gpajvdrr&gclid=CjwKCAjwuczWBhA9EiwAYGgEoYk0FkB_QoATV7LM9w6md4bklQ5eUXlT0YX3TYv299wD3OaTb-824xoC03gQAvD_BwE

I like blundstone, mine are so comfy and light

Mosulu do all types of boots, so have a look there, but generally I think the really comfortable ones are the type you are trying to avoid.

Thank you everyone- some great suggestions here!

I wear barefoot shoes for running and I also buy barefoot shoes for my toddler. This year I treated myself to barefoot winter boots because I needed a pair and they were on sale. My to-go barefoot company is Belenka. My winter boots are very light, full grain leather and feel like nothing on my feet. The shape is not typical though, all barefoot shoes tend to have generous toe room so possibly not for everyone. They definitely fit the bill of being lightweight, soft and comfortable, but there’s zero cushioning (that’s the whole idea behind barefoot shoes )

In sexual terms, a single female willing to have/looking for a threesome with a man and woman is often referred to as a unicorn.

I can't help with the boots though, sorry OP 🫣 just re-train my feet to wear boots again, doesn't usually take long!

Sketchers do unicorn boots, I just bought a pair for the 8yr old,
hope that helps 😂

For me it means warm, light, comfy, stylish!

I thought it meant hard to find?

Sketchers are always worth a try on. I have two pairs of their ankle boots.

hotchocdrinker · 17/10/2026 19:24

Another vote for the FitFlop Chelsea boots. Supremely comfortable!

EricTheHalfASleeve · 17/10/2026 19:24

Josef Siebel are very comfy - springy sole.

Unicorn is the name given to the single person who joins an established couple for threesomes etc. Amazing the things I've learnt from MN. Which is why I was interested in OP's use of the word, which makes sense now she has explained it.

Moshulu boots with Steppers insoles have been my saviours. Lovely soft boots that don’t need breaking in , especially for my wide feet.
