Selling a few unwanted items is very different from selling whole calendars.

I tried to get Bayeux Tapestry tickets this morning and had severe flashbacks to the SFAC trauma. It said you would be randomly allocated a place in the queue when it opened and I was allocated to 133,000 plus. Needless to say, they sold out long before I got anywhere near. I bet a lot of those go to touts.

@HolidayHattie at least they were honest that it was a random allocation!

I noticed that the calendars are getting promoted on my feed now as 'In Demand' - presumably because people are making lots of low offers on them. I reported a few but they'd all already been reported.

I was sent a 20% off white company code and had promised myself the advent for a 20% or 25% off code but not sure if I should wait to order until I come back from holiday as we’re going first week of November and don’t want to be away when they deliver…

I'd quite like the Harrods FAC. Tempted to make some offers - say a tenner more than the retail price as an acknowledgement that this person has effectively been my personal shopper!

Yes, and I tried a couple of other devices after the queue went live, and they had higher queue numbers, unlike Selfridges, where you could join later but get a lower number.

Nah, a lot of these are people with Pokemon cards and sneakers. Plus some of them are greedy.

Selling unwanted stuff is not the same as hoarding complete calendars, making sure real customers cant get them and selling them for a huge profit.

I’ve enjoyed the ACs in the past but I’m not really feeling it this year.

I don’t know if it’s the offerings or the trouble many have had, but it just seems more effort than it’s worth.

Looking at all the damaged/missing items mentioned, it seems inevitable that CS responses will eventually tighten up because for every genuine person there’ll be one or two trying it on to get a discount or freebies. I don’t like my odds with such an expensive item.

Then there’s the reselling - even when measures are put in place to prevent bulk purchases for reselling it doesn’t seem to work. (Although part of me thinks the SFAC queue of doom might have been a tactic to get everyone even more keen).

There’s also an issue with reselling entire calendars but not most/some of it with the aim of covering the cost of the calendar.

I might just stick to the smaller edits/sets from now on, less risk and fewer products so can be a bit more selective.

Next year I’m not taking part in any Calander bun fight . I’m going to limit myself to the Liberty, the Harrods Home Fragrance and one other that takes my fancy . That’s it . No sitting in queues at silly o’clock in the morning .

This is my plan as well. I'll get Liberty, definitely want the HHFC, and keep a bit of an eye on anything that looks special. No jumping through crazy hoops, no stress (except for the HHFC)

I know it's not a calendar, but I ordered myself a non-sock-based gift for my birthday next month, it just arrived and it is beautiful. Great gift for any Hunger Games fans - they have a few different designs and they're all gorgeous.

I’m only reporting those selling the whole calendar. It’s hard to differentiate between people selling a few bits versus all the perfumes separately so happy to give the benefit of the doubt there. I don’t mind people selling some bits from calendars and have bought a few things myself that way.

Do we know if the Advent Calender will be included in the 20% off with The White Company? I have already bought it with their 15% discount and went for it then as Google AI indicated that the Calendar is not normally included in the 20% discount event. I do know that AI is not always right! And I didn’t want it to sell out so made a conscious decision to buy with the 15% so I’m not too bothered but just interested.

I'm sorry to mess you about, but it's a like, not a love, and I don't think I want to buy a second one. Sorry again.

My Harrods Home Fragrance calendar has arrived and oh my goodness it's an absolute thing of beauty!! It's also huge when opened outwards and upwards so my perfect spot for it doesn't quite work!

We (surprisingly included DH and DD15) had a very exciting time checking everything earlier and giving things that we could a sniff. All beautiful and quite a variety of scents. I'm never going to want to go back to TK Maxx candles after this!

It looks like it’s account specific rather than a code but it should be available tomorrow for everyone.

I’ve just put it in my basket and the discount applied. Was your calendar sent when you ordered it or are they sending them later do you know? I need to think about when I am home for a delivery and next week would work well with half term so maybe I bite the bullet…
