Which cardigan?

I have no sense of style.
I need something to wear into the office. I usually wear very dark blue jeans and a top or blouse.
I'm tall, but disproportionate, have normal legs and a long body. Makes it hard to find tops long enough and cardigans or jumpers which don't make my tops shorter. I have a lovely, light, grey cashmere silk cardigan which does exactly this and I spent the whole day pulling down my top to meet my trousers.
These are the two longest cardigans I can find, even if I'm not a fan of the pockets.
mid 40's with a belly to disguise, if that changes anything!

Feel free to suggest something else! Back length needs to be a minimum of 66cm

I think you’d be better off pairing high-waisted trousers with a normal length boxy jumper. Rather than wearing a very long jumper like the ones you suggested.

EntropicalFruit · Yesterday 04:16

I already wear high waisted trousers. Boxy type shirts/jumpers are far too short.

Where are you shopping, @EntropicalFruit? Those photos are styled in an unusually dated way.

I don’t quite understand why you need cardigans, specifically?

If you could give your actual height and clothes size and budget, people might be able to suggest alternative work wear options.

StylishAndBeautiful · Yesterday 12:23

@NorWouldTilly , both those are from Woolovers.

They look like they've been styled for someone who'd be buying from an advert in a Sunday supplement.

NorWouldTilly · Yesterday 12:42

(Surely the models feel mortified?)

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · Yesterday 12:53

@EntropicalFruit I’m right there with you. Similar propertions, same length torso. About 15 years ago, Boden briefly did tops in “long” choice, which was amazing. I can also only wear hi waisted bottoms, as the waist barely covers my hip bones otherwise.

I’ve recently discovered that some Seasalt knitwear is 66cm in a size 18, of that won’t drown you!

NorWouldTilly · Yesterday 13:02

I’m sure your styling is better than Woolovers’, @EntropicalFruit.

Would your workplace accommodate any of these styles of dressing? Two from Uniqlo, two from Me&Em, one dress from Justine Tabak. Other than height considerations these all seem like clothes that would work on most bodies, and could probably be found in plus size versions from other shops, too if necessary.

How tall are you @EntropicalFruit ?

A length of 66 cm doesn't sound particularly long. Tops are currently short and boxy because that's the fashion.

If you want a long cardigan you could get a 'borrowed my boyfriend's' one from menswear.

Why do somany women describe themselves so negatively?
Men don't claim to have short legs, be short-waisted, be pear-shaped, be apples etc

EntropicalFruit · Yesterday 15:35

@StylishAndBeautiful not exceptionally tall 176, size 14 - 16 trousers and 10-12 tops depending on brands. Usually larger tops are longer but then they drown me. Straight cut clothes (men's) are also either too large on top or too narrow at the hips.

Budget not massive but would consider whatever right now. (Within reason!) Am fussy when it comes to fabric, don't wear any polyester.

@NorWouldTilly was looking for a cardigan to have more options heat wise - a jumper is either on or off but a cardigan gives a middle option!

@EntropicalFruit , You sound tall and slim. Of the two in the OP, the V-neck one but it depends on composition.
Bruar might have something - have a look. Ladies Country Lambswool Cable Cardigan, Blue - House of Bruar

You will probably style them far better than Woolovers and Bruar.

Good luck.

I'm not tall but I have a long body so I find tops from the tall section often fit better.

Of the two cardigans, I prefer the round neck one. The buttons are nicer.

EntropicalFruit · Yesterday 19:49

In the summer I wore this kind of thing, today I wore the same top but with dark blue bootcut jeans.

When it's colder I wear long sleeved, something like that as a top.

I like the Quince one above - the shape is contemporary. Woolovers never get their shapes right.

I don't think they do any longer cardigans right now, but I have a few from Wyse London that I wear with jeans & T-shirts (which is as casual as I get). Some have buttons, some don't. You'd probably wear a M-L, L or XL in those styles.

Not sure what colours you'd consider, but here's one on eBay. It's beige with a slightly metallic trim - I have it in navy.

It is 26 inches long, which is 66.04 cms ...!!!

This is almost the same I think, but with pockets, in a soft coral/orange shade.

Another Wyse one in a sort of .... giraffe print?!!! Btw, though they have nylon in them, mine haven't bobbled in several years, & the mohair & wool content mean they're warm & cosy.

This striped style was their original bestseller. Some are a bit strident & overly recognisable - this one is more classic & versatile IMO.

I don’t often recommend COS (overpriced H&M) but they have a really nice longish cardigan, it returns in various colours every season. It’s 100% cashmere, quite roomy and slouchy, and has some really interesting details around the seams, it very much fits their Bauhaus vibe. It should fit your needs and at the same time it’s a bit more current than Woolovers stuff. I have one in dark grey and have worn it regularly for the last four years, it’s very versatile and looks good both open and buttoned up.

This one: https://www.cos.com/sv-se/women/womenswear/knitwear/cardigans/cashmere/product/cashmere-v-neck-cardigan-grey-mlange-1288388002 I bought mine larger for an oversized look and it’s just hangs on me which is what I wanted.

Well, plain long cardigans do tend to have that vibe! My school cardigan was navy ... I'm not a lover of grey as it looks dreadful on me, but I like the black & khaki.

My experience with school uniforms is extremely limited so can’t really relate but it looks like this on the model. It’s quite voluminous, especially the sleeves are not tight.

@CortieTat thanks but it says it's 63cm which is too short. I need the body to be the same length as, or slightly longer than the sleeves!
