New thread. Welcome back everyone. It's taken a while to get through the last due to how busy the advent threads have been.

All the holiday releases are coming out now and Black Friday is looming. So take a seat and buckle up. 😊

Roll up everyone for the La Prairie gift set. A bargain at £6040. 😂

ok I like this. I’m not sure what is wrong with me because all I thought was I’m going to add this to my Black Friday watch list. What am I expecting 99% discounts!!! 🙈😂

Branster · 07/10/2026 20:28

@ShineDespiteEverything Yeah, i put everything through my Chatgpt for skin matches and it said the same. Not going to use that.

@RuralVic There are peptides in the serum I believe

Really looking forward trying out the Medik8, the AB cream and the eye stuff

I found a peptide cream or medik8 liquid peptides advance worked better than a brow serum.

keepincool · 07/10/2026 21:07

I bought the new Nars Après Ski Cheek & Eye Palette (£65) on impulse, because it looked all shiny and pretty - it arrived today and I love it, I'll get a lot of use from it over the festive season.

I also picked up an eye brightener for £29.50 and added the 15% off code to take my order down to £75.31. That meant that I qualified for the free full-size Light Reflecting Setting Powder. They also added a free mascara card, which i thought would be like the teeny tiny dior samples, but it's actually a proper 3.5g mascara 😍

My Jarrolds £10 crackers also arrived. I haven't opened any as they're gifts, but they look good for a tenner. I also bought cake and biscuits from Jarrolds food hall, because why not? 😁

Evening all! Is anyone else going to the Harrods carnival in Edinburgh at the weekend? I’m curious to know how early in reality to get there if anyone’s been before?

keepincool · 07/10/2026 21:32

The Jarrolds christmas cracker is pretty good, I had to have a peek (ignore the Knoops - that was another of today's deliveries).

If anyone can make use of 3 vouchers for 10% off Jarrolds retreat let me know and I'll post them to you.

Thelifeofawife · 07/10/2026 21:49

I think the Jarrolds crackers are great value and a nice gift, but the people I’d buy them for are already covered. Annoyingly, I can think of plenty of gifts for all the same people, and nothing for the remaining people I need to buy for 🙈

@OvaHere Loving the La Prairie set, the box in particular! This is definitely a set I’d only be buying one of!! Though in reality it’d need to be reduced by at least 95%, and a GWP wouldn’t go amiss 😅

@keepincool That’s a nice set from Nars. I don’t give it enough of a chance really, I’ve only ever tried the blush (recommended by my DSis) and I did like it but it felt like it lasted forever, which is technically a good thing but I was itching to move on to something else so it just made me flat about the brand.
Oh actually, I did recently buy a foundation but that didn’t work for me, but it was my own fault for rush buying rather than properly testing them out.
I think I need to revisit the brand once I’ve reduced my stash

Fillybuster · 07/10/2026 22:33

I really like that set @keepincool - I generally love NARS makeup, and there’s a few things (like highlighter) that I think they do better than anyone else. I still have the remnants of a liquid-form super orgasm blush/highlighter a friend gave me soon after Dc3 was born. she’s 16 now 🙈 I’m eking it out because it was discontinued years ago and it’s 200+ on eBay!

My CB edits arrived! Hurrah! And dh didn’t spot them. And they are indeed fab!

OvaHere · 07/10/2026 22:53

@keepincool I bought the NARS holiday blush palette last year in the Sephora sale. That was lovely too.

Shiseido Full Lash Serum is 1/2 price at All Beauty - https://allbeauty.com/products/p-shiseido-full-lash-serum-6ml-0-21-oz-11143035. I’ve used this in the past and rate it. I’ve just noticed my eyebrows are a bit sparse so I’ve repurchased it after not using it for a few years. 5OFFTD takes an extra 5% off but it’s under the £25 you need for free shipping. I used the code but added a couple of £1 fragrance samples to avoid the shipping fee.

paristotokyo · 08/10/2026 05:58

Yay, my selfridges edit has just been delivered. It wasn’t stopped at customs which I was surprised about as all my other ones have been and this one had 3 fragrances in it! I was going to cancel the order as I felt like I’d spent too much recently but it was too late. And I’m glad as it’s been lovely opening it as I’ve been feeling a bit gloomy this week. Will pass on a few bits but happy overall.

Im very careful layering stuff after I had major issues with the Elemis Toner last year. Supposedly the PC cream was barrier strenthening. No it wasnt. Everything stung for weeks. Couldnt tolerate most stuff except for Clinique Moisture surge during that period.

I use ChatGPT now for ingredients etc... to doublecheck.

And the extra step is just a marketing tool to make us spend more money.

Edited

Have a look at the Yuka app. You scan the barcode on a product and it tells you the ingredients and whether they are harmful.

IlovePond · 07/10/2026 10:27

SK have responded and yes, I have to retrieve every single item and photograph them to show that the missing item aren’t there. Plus they want a photograph of the sealed box showing it wasn’t tampered with before delivery 🙈

Quite how I am going to turn back time to yesterday is anyone’s guess.

There’s also a whole list of other requests that seem difficult to comply with given I opened everything.

I suppose this is the end of my relationship with them then 😿 (Good for my wallet, I suppose, in the long run!)

I would be splashing this all over social media on their pages!

IlovePond · 08/10/2026 14:16

@Donsyb - I am only feeling a bit grumpy about SK now - they got back to me this morning saying that the KPop merchandise from my order isn’t missing but is coming separately.

Quite why they couldn’t have told me this yesterday in response to my first query, rather than having me waste two hours photographing everything single item next to its position on the invoice, (which was all in Korean, obv.), is anyone’s guess 🙈

Never mind - I can now unpack the order - again - and refill my DIY KBeauty a/c, so all’s well that ends well, I guess!

user7172 · 08/10/2026 15:37

Glad they’ve sorted it @IlovePondbut what a debacle!! I had missed the fact there was a new thread so just catching up!

According to the BBC, the ASOS hack is much worse than originally thought and that ASOS have contacted all customers.

Well, they haven’t contacted me! Has anyone on here had an email?

I’ve not had an email but I’ve not shopped with them for years. I still have an account though.

IlovePond · 08/10/2026 17:31

It’s been a year since I shopped with them, but my account is active.

I have asked for my account to be closed, but apparently it will take a month to do - which is ridiculous. I know it’s too late, but I feel it’s better than nothing.

I have also changed my password.

HACKING: Just one of many reasons why I NEVER give my real birthday out to companies. But unfortunately, unless you don’t shop online, (like my DFriend), there’s not much to be done to reduce the risk 😿

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 08/10/2026 17:32

I put in an order two weeks ago on their beauty sale. I've signed in and changed my password since the data breach but that is very much pointless. Prior to that I hadn't shopped with them for years! Damn sales.

Edited to say, I left out the salient part - no, I haven't been contacted either. The older I get the more it appears the world is made up of slapdash chaos, and that chaos is alive and well when it comes to our data, bank accounts, anything that is remotely important is just, at its essence, teetering on the edge of chaos.

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 08/10/2026 17:36

May I suggest adopting or fostering cats to help with the chaos?

What an absolute babe! Could they BE more relaxed?

IlovePond · 08/10/2026 18:07

Btw: It’s Liberty’s Members Week starting 12/10.

I am hoping that there will be some meaningful reductions on items I might actually want to buy with my huge amount of BD credit. Thanks to the posters on the Liberty thread, I have also found a £10 Reward Voucher.

Does anyone know when Liberty might do their ‘spend £300, get £100 back’ deal again?

Lurkingshark · 08/10/2026 18:10

The Liberty 300/100 deal seems to be on already. I’m hoping to keep it to next week and maybe even an edit!
