Clothes for very slim children.

Where do you buy clothes for very slim children?
My dd is 40th centile for height and 2nd for weight so very slight framed. We always used to buy leggings in Next in slim fit but these are so baggy on her now it doesn’t look good. She has been wearing dresses all summer which are admittedly baggy but it’s been okay.
She is 5 and 108cm but can fit in her sisters age 1.5-2 shorts in the waist.

I find Primark smaller around the waist compared to other brands.

My skinny ones were boys so not sure if it will be the same but we found H&M good. I was also told any French brands tend to be slimmer.

I tend to buy Next in an age size down but “longer length”. Then they are tighter on the waist and legs but not too short.

I would size down and get the tall length - so when my daughter was 6 she was wearing 4 tall at next.

It’s a long time ago for me now but I had very small children (2nd centile) and always bought from French brands or European where possible. La Redoute was great.

I too used to buy my very slender framed DD trousers and skirts from La Redoute and Vertbaudet. This is going back 15-20 years but I think they still exist. Put slim-fit into the search box.

Size down and longer length.

My skinny one is a boy but Sainsbury's seemed to fit best, at least until he aged out of their children's range. Now having some luck with Next and longer length in a size or two down, but mostly just buy things with drawstrings or adjustable waists.

Zara.

i bought ds some recently from H and m and they were huge waists with no way to alter smaller. I reordered from Zara, they arrived and all fit. He’s 6, around 120cm tall. Wearing 122cm from Zara and waist is fine ( his 116cm still fit waist wise but he’s tall so we’re getting ankle swinging)

He’s very tall with high percentile height, and about 2% weight

I don't know what they're like now but la Redoute were good when dss were small.

Another vote for H&M which seems to offer a slim fit as standard. We have a slim DD and know several other slim girls and H&M is the only place we can easily get leggings that are long enough but don't also fall down!

Zara! Most of my DSs trousers were from there.
Had some luck with H&M as lots of the trousers have an adjustable waist.
Asda also seemed to have some stuff with a narrower waist but could be very variable

Oh and Dunnes! It’s here in Ireland but you can buy online.

French brands as mentioned above are much slimmer fitting, and a lot of American brands have adjustable waists but these are bulky when at the tightest fitting. For leggings and shorts i used to put a few stitches on each side of the waist to take them in.

My second is a bean pole. I buy joggers and shorts with pull string waist and trousers and jeans with the adjustable elastic in the waist. And if that's not an option I often have to alter the waistband by sewing a tuck in.

Mine lived in Sainsbury's leggings, anything else looked ridiculously baggy.

I have this issue with two of my children who are 2 and 8. I find that H&M and Benetton both often size on the slimmer side and some of their leggings/shorts/skirts fit around the waist without falling down. But I mostly buy clothes with the adjustable waists as it's the only way to guarantee they will fit round their waists. H&M sells plenty of leggings with that, for school trousers loads of places do them such as H&M, Tesco, Next and Asda. Next and Benetton have some trousers and skirts with adjustable waists too but you have to hunt for them.

As for the leggings being baggy, that doesn't bother me or my kids. As long as they stay up round their waist then they're happy! Well, the elder one also cares about the colour / pattern etc but wouldn't notice if something appeared baggier than intended as long as they stayed up and were comfy.

Another vote for Zara they’re the best for children who are slim and tall, my daughter is 110cm and it’s the only place I can get her trousers / shorts that fit well! I’ve tried H&M as other have suggested and they come up bigger than Zara from what we’ve tried

Zara 100%. Ditch baggy leggings and go for trousers and jeans. Tights might be better than leggings.

Verbaudet is French, so tends to be slimmer in general, but also has a few slim-fit trouser options, which might work.
