One is opening in my town! What are the best things there in your opinion?

I have the cashmere blend turtlenecks that I wear with the soufflé yarn cardigans with either wide leg black trousers or a black mini skirt for work in winter. I have a lot of each in different colours so I mix and match. They’re like my work wardrobe and I love them.

TuesOver · 22/09/2026 20:01

The skipper tops for those blessed with boobs and belly!

Merino jumpers.

My husband likes their boxers.

My child lives in Cambridge and is looking forward to Thursday’s opening!!

MyManinCaracas · 22/09/2026 20:05

I’ve never found anything in Uniqlo and I frequently go in to see if there might be something for me.

Cantonet · 22/09/2026 20:13

Definitely the down/puffer jackets and the puffer tech gilet under wool coats for winter. I buy one in the sales every year. The JW Anderson cropped shirts and straight jeans. I also really liked the Comptoir de cottoniers cord barrel trousers last year.
Ds loves the cashmere mix thermals. The thicker polo neck ones are great for skiing. The mens khaki baggy cords reduced last Xmas were also really cool on ds.

somanychristmaslights · 22/09/2026 20:20

Their padded vest tops. Great in the summer and not needing a bra!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 22/09/2026 20:24

I like their socks, jersey barrel leg trousers and I their crew neck T-shirts as the neckline is high enough to show beneath a jumper, which I prefer. I have one of the long satin skirts and a couple of the half moon bags, and got some linen shorts in the summer.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 22/09/2026 20:25

Oh, and the heattech stuff. My office is cold in the winter and they’re fine enough to wear under blouses without adding bulk.

I also have loads of Uniqlo. I rely on it for those "plain basics" that every wardrobe needs as I know they will have stuff in natural fibres like cotton, linen, wool and cashmere without it all having plastic or stretch shoved in for no reason.

White cotton t-shirts that are not see through
Linen shirts in many colours
Linen blend easy trousers in the summer
Merino wool/cashmere jumpers and polo necks
Puffa vests - one of these under a jacket is the perfect level of warmth for me for autumn and spring
Heattech base layers

DH wears their t-shirts, linen trousers, and merino jumpers.

My teen DSs buy the graphic t-shirts, flannel shirts, and the sporty stuff like shorts made of technical fabrics that still look smart enough to wear out and about because there aren't any logos.

I often get one or two bits from the collabs - I still have quite a bit of old Ines de la Fressange stuff, a JW Anderson long black skirt, and from the Comptoir des Cottoniers collab earlier this year I got a lovely pair of cream wide leg tailored trousers and a navy blue cotton knit short sleeved top.

I don't suit the voluminous or shorter boxy tenty stuff, or anything in dusty pastels or sludgy colours, so I just leave those for others to wear!

Same for me. I have their ubiquitous barrel leg trousers in 4 colours, likewise their long sleeve rib tees for layering

CortieTat · 22/09/2026 20:38

Big fan of their barrel leg too, I have two pairs of jeans (navy and grey) and the corduroy ones. The barrel is not too much and the fabric is quite soft, I like the baggy, oversized look this creates.

LifeBeginsToday · 22/09/2026 20:41

All of my basics are Uniqlo. Cashmere cardigans, linen shirts, wool skirts. Basically natural fabric at affordable prices.

Viviennemary · 23/09/2026 23:30

I've never bought anything from uniqlo. I've never even heard of it until I kept reading about it on here. Maybe I should have another look. I have looked once or twice but didn't see anything that particularly appealed to me.

momager22 · 24/09/2026 08:50

lots of my basics are from there. Socks, pants, cotton and linen trousers in various shapes, linen shorts, airism bra vests as I can’t tolerate bras, cashmere and the £35 lambswool sweaters.
all of my dp t shirts are from there, they wash well, last ages and come in great colours.
Oh and I have a few of their bags.

Floisme · 24/09/2026 09:09

I like their jeans and their merino knitwear but don’t rate either their lambswool or cashmere. I also like their Uniqlo C and U collabs for a contemporary, budget friendly take on basics.

growinguptobreakingdown · 24/09/2026 10:27

Jeans are great and their puffas are really warm. They are good for basics.Their men's sweatshirts get stolen off DH by me and my teen DDs.Socks and basic , practical bags.DD17 loves their graphic men's t shirts.I'm about to buy a burgundy fleece/ coat thing.

Catatemysandwich · 24/09/2026 12:37

I have loads of their clothes. T shirts are excellent and wash well. They now do longer length trousers - currently wearing some pleated culottes that are perfect for work. Also the puffer coats and merino jumpers, they last years. The sizing is variable so it’s handy you will be able to try on in your new store!

TheChosenTwo · 24/09/2026 12:38

Their regular heat tech stuff is crap for me, does nothing but add an extra layer, the cashmere heat tech on the other hand is miraculous, so much thinner but so much warmer. It’s my go to and washes and lasts like a dream.

OsfameronTanamoril · 24/09/2026 12:40

I just bought a new light puffer for a trip to Europe with limited luggage. Folds up into its own tiny pouch.

MiddleAgedDread · 24/09/2026 12:41

I don't understand the love for it at all! I have a pair of lightweight trousers that have been great for travel but apart from that i've never found anything to buy. The sizing seems very ad-hoc and some basics like vest tops seem massively overpriced.

I wonder why the sizing is ad-hoc for you? They are one of the not so many places that provide flat measurements of everything they sell. All it takes is to measure yourself or a similar garment you already have to get the sizing right.

Epoisses · 24/09/2026 13:25

Trousers not ling enough for me even online. I have 6 padded jackets, 6 bags, about 10 tops. Mens fits me better.

IsThePopeCatholic · 24/09/2026 13:40

I bought some cotton trousers this summer which are great. I like a lot of their clothes, but the colours are often dull and boring.

i dunno, some stuff seems really small (my mum is tiny and loves their t-shirts!) but then i've tried dresses and shirts on and they absolutely drowned me!
And don't get me started on things being folded up on tables!

Brighton? I'm so excited. We used to have one when they first came to the UK.

Britpopbaby · 24/09/2026 21:00

Cashmere blend heat tec tops and their normal thermals.
I have one of their fleecey cardigan jackets which is proving to be perfect for the current weather and great as an extra layer in Winter. Well worth it, I recommend sizing down. If you are planning on spending a bit there get the app as they sometimes have total spend offers on that you can use. I can’t say I am a fan of their cashmere. I tried on one of their cardigans and it didn’t sit right and felt thin and not as nice as other high street cashmere.

Willowskyblue · 24/09/2026 21:33

Blocktech long raincoat - so flattering and waterproof.
Heattech with cashmere - just feels so luxurious and warm.
Socks in so many colours.
I don’t rate the soufflé knit though - soft and cosy but bobbles terribly.
