Does this tattoo look odd?

Do you think it looks disjointed? I had the butterfly first - then the sunflower but the butterfly was faded and looked lost next to the sunflower so I had the rest done to try to join in. 1st photo is what I had done, 2nd is what chat GPT suggests I could do.

The last pic with the bolder butterflies and vines looks better to me, but I would speak to an actual tattoo artist about it. I can’t imagine many of them are happy about customers bringing in AI images let alone using AI to try and correct two other artists’ work.

GreenFootstool · 17/09/2026 23:20

The last one is exponentially better.

But agree with others - the AI art is crap. Find a decent artist who specialises in florals and take the idea to them with better images to be included and get them to design it.

Sunflower is too short. The butterfly's look very dated- early 00s style.

It's a bit odd, it's not something you'd pick is it, just looks like something you w ended up with. It's not the worst I've seen just a bit oh.

JaneJeffer · 17/09/2026 23:24

Doesn’t look real to me

Something like this?

I’m not sure vines go with sunflowers. You would t see them together in nature

Nanof8 · 17/09/2026 23:51

Looks very nice. Would you be getting the current butterflies redone like the top one?

HylianShroom · 18/09/2026 00:06

Don’t ask AI! It will give you unrealistic expectations, and of course AI is generally awful. Speak to some good tattoo artists who specialise in reworks. Check their instagrams for examples of their healed work before booking in with anyone.

DaisyDooley · 18/09/2026 00:12

Oh dear.
I think it looks dreadful. Really dated. Is it all ‘new’?

BigMommasHouse · 18/09/2026 00:43

It looks disjointed as it doesn’t work with the shape of your body. It is like a ‘flat’ drawing that has been applied to a 3D shape, ie your leg/foot. If the wispy lines had been applied free hand to complement the shape of your foot it wild have looked better. They are wisping around the shape of the flower, not the shape of your body if that makes any sense. Also the shading of the butterflies isn’t great, it doesn’t give any depth or perspective to the composition. The fact that the butterflies are all the same size also doesn’t help.

I would go to a different artist and get them to freehand in an additional ‘wisp’ or vine that actually works with the shape of your anatomy and pulls it all together. Get them to sort out the shading too. This looks like a load of random flash pieces with a scribble. A good artist could re work it for sure

Something like this?

Yes that's SO much better. The wispy bits do look odd in the original photos.

Freya1542 · 18/09/2026 02:52

It would be worth looking for a more talented artist tbh @PrincessLasange there are so many to choose from across the UK

Examples; here, here, and here

hattie43 · 18/09/2026 05:51

I like the last picture best

Build5bear · 18/09/2026 06:43

Why are there butterflies coming out of the roots of a sunflower ? Weird. The wisps also look like a child’s scribble, what are the supposed to be? Can you get rid lasered and just start again?

pinkyredrose · 18/09/2026 14:57

Whatisthat1 · 17/09/2026 22:23

I think I’d favour having amputation below the knee than having that on my leg.

Rude.

PrincessLasange · 19/09/2026 08:58

@Whatisthat1 slightly extreme, laser would cost less than 1k 🤷🏻‍♀️

To me the whole thing looks poorly designed and executed. If you can afford it, have it removed.
