Are these too manly?

Honestly do you see Man's shoes here? I always considered docs as unisex but ASOS are absolutely marketing these as mens.
I really want a pair of brown dm shoes to wear with jeans / smart trousers etc. Could these work?

Yep. They are mens shoes and that is exactly what they look like.

If you like the styling, does it matter? If they come in your size then maybe try them and see?

They have women’s and unisex three eye brown shoes on their website. Same as these.

My daughter wears doc marten shoes like those, her pair are black. If you have wide feet (like me, as in not narrow) they’ll be fine.

I’ve got these… I wear them with socks and skirts, dresses, shorts, trousers… I think they look good - and I’ve never been mistaken for a man. They are SO comfortable! Size 6, so neither small nor massive.

If yo like then wear them and screw the stereotypes

I have a pair very similar! I think they are quite a masculine style but that really doesn’t matter. I don’t suddenly get an urge to wear men’s clothes when I put them on!

I wouldn't hesitate to wear them myself and wouldn't bat an eyelid at a woman wearing them. Very smart!

Agree with PPs: unisex, leaning towards masculine. I think it is the brown - no idea this has made such a difference! But I like that look and if Dr Martens didnt hate my feet I'd wear those. I would never look at a woman wearing them and gasp in horror: "but she's wearing mens shoes!"

No such thing as "too manly". The only question is do you like them and how they look on your feet. What I would say is men's shoes can be quite a bit wider and may not fit as well.

I had these in 1985 as a 17 year old girl. I loved the look but hated how heavy and stiff they were.

And DD2 frequently wears men's shoes, as she has size 9.5 feet.

They’re a great pair of shoes for anyone. If you like them, get them.

I've got the crazy horse ones @YouRemindMeOfAYoungerMe linked to. It's a very useful shoe! They aren't feminine, but I wear them with feminine things. I think they magke a good alternative to a pretty dress with dainty shoes, which wouldn't be my vibe.

But I do have the ones for women. V import with DMs, like with birkenstocks, as they market themselves as neutral, but they do have bigger and smaller fits.

I got mine on the DM website but I had to wait until they'd restocked the women's sizes. The clue to look out for on their website is the size range. If it goes all the way up through the men's sizes then it's the wider fit. If it only goes up to 42-ish, then it's the women's sizing.

If they are marketed as men’s you would probably find they are too wide across the heel .I tried on something similar despite the size being ok my foot was slipping around especially at the heel.

Uploading pics so you can see what I mean @Batsratscatsgnats ,the pics will take a while to load, and they're UK rather than European sizing. One is for women, the other is neutral, meaning the wider fit.

I'd have no issue with those, utilitarian looking, unisex. But, if cut for men they may be too wide for your feet?

Plenty of plain brown leather DM style boots cut for women.

My sister has brown DM shoes and they must be women’s because she is a size 4.

They are 100% men's shoes.
