Welcome back everyone to the new thread and hello to any newbies - join us now in time for the autumnal fun. 🍂💄🌂

As always when the Advent threads are running hot this thread is a little quieter but holiday releases, sets and edits are just around the corner. I'm super excited to be going to Sephoria London in October - I still can't believe I lucked out getting a ticket.

Some exciting homegrown news -after a few technical hiccups the FB group is now searchable (but private) MN Beauty Chat Swap/Trade/Sell.* *For those interested in the group we have a few joining rules you will be asked to abide by. Thank you @MrsBnow12 @CinderellaParker for your help.

As JoRaRaRa said, it’s the Medik8 Advanced Peptides and the Exo PDRN serums. I use both in the morning and with my first bottle of the PDRN I also used it at night because I wanted to give it the best chance to work. Once I saw results (and the first bottle ran out) I started only using it in the morning and bought the much much cheaper Medicube PDRN serum to use at night. Not sure if that one does anything much but it can’t hurt and might help.

Thank you @Talisin 😍 I’d best get saving!

Our MaryBD did a review of the medik8 serum today and was (very politely and diplomatically, as always) positive but not glowing, which is exactly the impression I've got from the reviews I've seen. I've been avoiding it anyway as it has niacinamide, but interested to hear if it wins anyone over in a few weeks/months once people have made their way through a whole bottle.

As an aside, I love that I can trust BD to be honest in reviews even when the products are gifted - definitely not the case with some other influencers!

Thank you so much, that really means a lot to me! I’ll definitely keep trying to live up to that trust ❤️

Re other BAC skincare, my skin seems to be loving the Sunday Riley Tidal, which surprises me because I’ve not got on fantastically with SR skincare in the past (save for the original Jetlag Mask, when the brand first launched). I’m relieved as I have two bottles 😅

Ooh now this sounds like what I need!! A line eraser! I have lost a bit of weight and my skin is def looking less plump and as to my neck and hair 😱. I’m off to South Korea in a couple of weeks and hoping to buy some life changing products there to help 🤣. I don’t suppose anyone has any recommendations do they? I don’t want any treatments but any known amazing Korean skincare that will help and that I can buy there would be brilliant! I’m already planning on trips to Olive Young and some of the other pharmacies, I remember @IlovePondtalking about her bargain fwee pots and Daiso dupes so they’re on the list but I don’t really know where to start with their skincare!! Thanks

I like this range https://bioheal-boh.com/

I haven't used the cream or serum yet but I really like the sunscreen and the mist.

Oh really? I wear a lot of sunscreen and makeup and the Lisa Eldridge cleanser gets it all off. I do a proper massage with it though, but I always do with cleanser. Glad to hear you’re enjoying the edit otherwise.

Proper massage was the key 😅. I am far too used to swiping everything off with micellar water before doing a far shorter second cleanse.

Sorted a full face of sunscreen and makeup, including eye makeup, today with a little more patience. I am seriously considering decanting this into a container the next time I travel, as it is far less faff than micellar water and a regular cleanser.

Thank you!

Wondering how long a whole tube lasts, as I may have to budget for this after finishing all my other Beauty Drop cleansers.

If you buy directly from Medik8, you can return the product within 30 days as long as it is still half-full. Perhaps you could set a calendar reminder to request a return if you don't see results?

IlovePond · 30/09/2026 23:59

@26inprogress - I agree with @OvaHere RoundLab products are also very good - I love the cleanser. Abib and D’Alba are also very popular in South Korea.

If you go to Olive Young, the staff are helpful. Most don’t speak English, but if you download the excellent Naver translation app you can type in something like:

Please can you help me. I am looking for an eye cream to help with wrinkles/an anti-aging moisturiser, etc. Thank you

If you go to the Daiso and Olive Young flagship stores in Myeongdong, (highly recommended, btw), try to avoid late afternoon/evenings unless you want to be fighting to get to the shelves with half the young women in Seoul!

Also see if OY still have their sign up programme for overseas visitors in Myeongdong which lets you have a go on the freebie vending machine!

I am very jealous that you are going in October. Feel free to ask me if you have any questions about anything and I will try to answer. Are you visiting anywhere outside Seoul? It’s really easy to do day trips by train and the fares are cheap! I’ve just booked flights for Easter!

I went to Seoul this year and bought pretty much everything from this Lisa Eldridge video. Plus more because it was truly an incredible beauty shopping extravaganza...ended up buying an extra suitcase to get everything home!

SheilaFentiman · 01/10/2026 07:51

@26inprogress not Korean but I am
using the ROC roller ball retinol on my neck and I think it’s helping a bit.

Beautyfox · 01/10/2026 08:40

I have purchased the Caroline H new set. I’m quite keen to try the eye serum and the medik8.

also my sephora should arrive today but it needs a PIN code. This is quite annoying as I’m sure delivery will be attempted in the 30min window no one is home! 🤷‍♀️

26inprogress · 01/10/2026 09:32

Thank you so much @IlovePond, @TreesinthePark and @SheilaFentiman!
that video is great, I’ve taken notes and really interested in the redl stuff!!
we’ve got 3 1/2 days in Seoul, Jeinju, Gyeongju, Busan and Jeju. There for 13 days and cannot wait! We’ve been to Japan but never Korea so all recs v welcome! ( sorry don’t want to derail thread!). How exciting to have another trip planned @IlovePond!

Beautyfox · 01/10/2026 10:49

The Caroline Hirrons collagen support set has sold out. That was quick! I’m glad I got my order in this morning.

Yeah the balms need a chance to emulsify the sunscreen and makeup, it’s not a surfactant like micellar water or soap lifting things up. The Lisa Eldridge balm can be used as a facemask as well so I like leaving it on a bit longer. I brush my teeth after I’ve done massaging/emulsifying and then wash it all off. It lasts a long time, cos you don’t need much just enough to spread across your face. I prefer it to Wildsmith because it’s a nicer texture for me. But agree it’s pricey and I want refill bags! So I’ll be sticking to Wildsmith I buy for £3 off Vinted.

paristotokyo · 01/10/2026 11:52

Beware on vinted. I bought something and noticed as soon as I bought, the seller relisted the exact same item again and seems she was doing that constantly but never having more than 5 active listings at any point. Reviews all looked great, all 5*. I messaged her saying I was worried about the authenticity of the items as she seems to be relisting so clearly had lots of this item and I wanted a refund. She pretty much admitted it, agreed to a refund straight away and then when I put ‘items not authentic’ as reason for refund, she didn’t care! Gah. It’s put me off.

What was the item? I want to buy Kayali 42, lots on there, pretty much all fake, I watched a few videos on how to spot one.

It's a shame you can't look at someone's sold listings in the way you can on eBay.

I was looking for a specific shade of Dior Lip Maximiser on eBay the other day. Loads of people selling multiple listings of new ones for around 8.99. One listing even had authentic in the title. No way are they real.

Outside of advent and edit items where I can see some evidence of the advent or edit purchase (box or other items from same box) I don't tend to buy popular stuff from Vinted. Maybe the odd time if it's a niche brand unlikely to be faked.

I know I say this often but search Ali Express to see what is being faked. It's quite eye opening. If you search Charlotte Tilbury for example they have practically the whole range for a few quid. This is what some people are selling on eBay and Vinted.

All the fakes are doing a favour to the brand in a way - I think I’ll have to buy a real one for the extortionate price! I loved the Kayali Vanilla Candy Rock Sugar 42 and it’s still not quite Vyrao Witchy Woo weather. The 10ml lasted me all summer, so o should buy that size but the huuuge jump in price per ml really puts me off! The 4 x 10ml sets are a bit easier to consider £88 works out as £2,200 per Litre but still extortionate compared to the bigger bottles!

Face the Future customers - you might have an email with a personal code for £12 off the Winter radiance edit. Brings it down to £137.99 (so not quite 10%off).

I feel that way about Rhode. I’d never purchase it on eBay or Vinted as there are so many fakes and I am just not skilled enough to spot them. I have sold Rhode though and always offer to provide proof of purchase but no one has ever asked.

Can you please say this again for the hard of hearing and forehead furrowed - which two products are you using? (And are you using them twice a day?)

I have had lines on my forehead since I’ve been about 12 and I’m starting to feel like crusty the clown now. I’ve held off doing Botox because I’d rather buy ACs.

ETA: please and thank you 🙏

Edited

I know it’s not the ones you were asking about, but I have been doing a new routine since January which has drastically improved my skin and greatly lessened my 11 lines. It is Murad Retinal resculpt overnight treatment followed by Estée Lauder Advanced night repair serum and then one of various different moisturisers.

I hadn’t used any retinol or retinal type products before so it’s possible it isn’t this specifically, just that I really needed them. But it’s made a huge difference and I have had loads of complements and people asking what I did.
