Is there such a thing as a stylish wellie for dog walking?

Needs to be practical yes but I’m also rather fond of stopping for a pint in the pub mid walk. Anyone got a suggestion for a naice style of wellington boot?

I usually stop off at a pub on a long weekend walk, have never worn wellies (too uncomfortable and sweaty) but do have a nice pair of walking boots. They’ve never breached even in inches of bog, although I do wear waterproofs over the top if it’s particularly wet.

Muck Boots

ExitPursuedByABare · 10/09/2026 19:47

Bareback footwear. Wellies are passé.

Trailback Boots
Blundstone.

Just the one?

TheDogsMother · 10/09/2026 21:01

Also came on to say Merry People.

Le Chameau is the go to naice country brand or waterproof leather boots like Fairfax & Favor explorers or Penelope Chilvers inclement boots.

Fitflop.

HappyToSmile · 10/09/2026 21:37

Do you want wellies or country boots or neoprene? Or do you not care as long as they look nice?

cloudbabies · 10/09/2026 21:39

I got these off next the other day

Dubarry boots are great but a bit on the pricey side.

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 10/09/2026 21:45

I like my Barbour lined short wellies, very easy to slip on and off.

lechatnoir · 10/09/2026 21:47

I live in my long Ariat leather boots - not dissimilar to Durbaery but much cheaper and you might find a pair on Vinted. Warm, waterproof and look great - well worth the money

ThisCoolPanda · 10/09/2026 22:28

I second Merry People. Their boots are gorgeous and definitely worth the money. They have just brought out a collection with Oliver Bonas.

Another vote for Merry People, I have 3 pairs of the Tully ankle boots (different colours) and they are perfect for walking the dog in all weathers. I also have a pair of their Bobbi boots which I’m not as keen on but they are still very practical.

jeaux90 · 11/09/2026 06:55

Ohhh thank you! Did not expect so many replies on a welly thread! Will check them all out. I was concluding yesterday that I think calf length is the right answer so will search that in all the recommendations.

One thing I was going to add is….i hate socks, I never wear them so I really
want wool or fake fur lined wellies.

Im in the process of choosing - could I ask why the Tully is preferable and which colours you like please?

I've got a Holland Cooper pair that are fur lined and nice. Fairfax and favour are a good bet if you have the budget
