I am old enough to remember The Mumsnet Scarf.

The Mumsnet See-Through Parents Evening dress suggests the demographic has got much younger. Or old enough to give no fucks.

Same. Only chucked it during Covid

I think I'd look great in this. Maybe to a lunch with the inlaws. It looks like it flatters the over 50s figure and I'd probably even go commando to avoid VPL. Or even VP. Why not? M&S are really nailing it these days.

Ooooo commando!! Great idea. That’ll go down well in the High Court next week.

Aagh, ignore, wrong post ( not sure how but here we are!)

Neveragainplease · Yesterday 20:15

I've not been drinking honest! Just somehow wrong thread ( I don't often read fashion threads so not sure how it happened!)

No one is ok after seeing this monstrosity of a garment*

*I've decided not to label it as a dress or a top incase we're supposed to be doing those Godawful early 00s dresses-over-jeans again now (iykyk)

Comeonbabylightmyaga · Yesterday 20:21

I wore that to the farmers market today. My granny pants got a lot of compliments.

Go for it. Who needs briefs (haha).

It reminds me slightly of the famous sheer dress kate moss wore in the 90s with only a pair of black knickers under, alas I'm not kate moss in the 90s...

I wasn’t even Kate Moss in the 90s, more like tree moss now.

Very Bridget

It's what's my DD would describe as " You'd need a very clean vest under that" 😀

pastadish · Yesterday 21:11

I have that dress it’s actually really nice on I wear it to Asda

Rachelshair · Yesterday 21:16

Sheer clothes are just silly.

Redpaisley · Yesterday 21:35

I like it. It would look great with a long slip.

gardenflowergirl · Yesterday 21:52

Surely it's a night dress?

SaraHoliday · Yesterday 21:55

Marks and Spencer.

I'll give this one a miss - with or without the layering option! 😁

I think a dress over trousers is a vastly underrated outfit and wish they were more mainstream. Not that one though!

It looks like a shower curtain in that advert Grin

In the first picture on the M&S page it looks as though it has pockets! Surely not?

In the picture where it's styled over pale jeans it looks like it could be a flimsy waterproof poncho.

It's ridiculous over jeans. It's quite nice over the long white dress.

Edit, it appears to be white trousers, not a dress. It doesn't work with trousers. It would be OK over a long white dress.

OldWave · Today 06:49

This would have been perfect but I really need a 3/4 sleeve to hide my arms.

You may need to sit down on reading this, but young people are reviving the dress-over-jeans look again. I suspect the styling in that photo may not have been aimed at you.
