@OvaHere - I don’t dislike the Stylevana calendar as such, I just don’t find it very exciting. Or at least, not exciting enough to pay extra customs charges as it’s over £135.

I really like to get some pretty/cute/unusual things in a/cs ideally and this one is very practical.

I also have a lot of SK skincare to get through, so if I do go for a Korean calendar it will have to wow me!

Your post has reminded me: I have some of the BoH products to use from when I went to Korea - I must get them into rotation!

@ConstantlyFuriosa - that’s terrible - I have stopped buying skincare/makeup from eBay/Vinted unless I can see from the buyer’s other items that it is part of a current edit/a/c haul.

Moving forwards, I think I will add to this rule that the sellers need to show the manufacturer’s code in the pictures!

Thinking about old stock/out of date products being peddled by companies- I won’t go near NEXT after MissBoux’s exposure of their beauty products.

She bought several different beauty boxes from NEXT and used CheckFresh to check the dates of manufacture- everything was years out of date.

It’s not just NEXT, though:

People on here may remember I was using a great concealer recently that I had got from a GB box subscription. It was only when I went to repurchase it, that I found out it was discontinued. I looked on CheckFresh and my tube was over 8 years old! (I had got it from GB 12-18 months previously.)

It’s put me right off beauty boxes and subscriptions.

I am regretfully coming to the conclusion that companies are doing the same thing with advent calendars - dumping old stock 😿

Yes and it was included in the 25% off weekend in both October 2024 and 2025. Definitely worth waiting as it takes fifty quid off the price.

Also worth noting that it's incredibly heavy. Just in case you biy instore like I did then have to drag it all the way home on the metro!

I got an email saying my early access window was closing. Despite not wanting the calendar it still felt like a stab in the heart. Ridiculous! 😂

Yes I did and had a couple of issues. Def recommend checking to make sure all intact, or getting someone else to if you don’t want to see the products! There is a list in the box which will help if someone else checks.

Having checked the Liberty BAC my Sisley is also out of date on 16 January 2027, which gives us 3 weeks to use the product (assuming we have no other similar product on the go, which I do at the moment). Have raised with the WhatsApp bot. Has anyone heard back?

These short-dated or missing products are putting me off additional BAC purchases. Mildred will be thrilled.

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior I just stopped work for lunch, saw an email from WC and came on to ask this exact question! I am standing firm that I don’t need another BAC on top of my Frankenstein but would like something like WC or maybe Molton Brown on a discount… I can definitely justify a shower gel/candle/perfume type calendar!

Marks and Spencer is nearly always lovely with £350 ish value for this year £75 (so the rumour goes) it’s released early October.

I don't know why beauty products sold in the UK aren't required to have a clear use by date? We have dates for food and medicines. Does anyone know of any groups lobbying for this?

Mine is also 2028 expiry - but manufactured 2 years ago. So definitely not the newest of stock!

Just checked my Harrods bac . The lid was off the perfum and it’s got a little dribble left inside. 😞 maybe 1 spray worth, not the 20ml it says.

This was one of the issues I had too. I’d definitely contact them, either via WhatsApp if you can or via email with photos.

Good job you checked, hopefully they'll replace it for you. It would be horrible saving it for December then finding out on the day.

So I asked Scout (my AI CoPilot) why K-beauty products nearly always seem to have expiry dates while UK beauty products don't. He says:

"Apparently it's because UK/EU cosmetic regulations don't require an expiry date if a product has a shelf life of more than 30 months unopened. Instead, manufacturers use the little open-jar symbol (e.g. 6M, 12M, 24M) to show how long the product should be used for after opening.

Korean brands go further and print actual manufacturing and expiry dates, which is why it's much easier to tell how old a product is before you buy it.

There doesn't seem to be any campaign to change the rules at the moment, with most cosmetic regulation focusing on ingredient and product safety rather than expiry-date labelling"
