What perfume are we wearing in our 40s?

Hello

I am loyal to Jo Malone Lime Basil & Mandarin for summer.

For winter, I've used Coco Chanel but wonder if it's a bit too heavy/80s.

I've also used Coco Mademoiselle and Miss Dior and like them but wonder if they're a bit young for me now.

I HATE AND LOATHE CHANEL NO5!

I would like something clean and sophisticated rather than too young/old or sexy.

Any thoughts welcome! Thanks.

I love all the Discotheque range.

Nothing stays on me.
I love Hugo red for nights out.
Miss dior or mugler nova or ck euphoria for day.

I want to be one of those people whose scent lingers. But I'm not.

Spray it on your hair too

Spray it on your hair too

I spray it everywhere!

I love Alien Mugler but the price is too much right now as I have a saving goal I am aiming for. I have switched to Fasionably London by Zara and get compliments all the time, yesterday someone in the gym asked me and today when at the supermarket.

I also spray my perfumes on my hair too, seems to last longer.

I love Penhaligons Solaris for summer. I like Halfeti but AlUla is my new favourite - it’s from the Trade Routes collection like Halfeti.
My other top favourite is Nomade by Chloe. Also still love Michael Kors Wonderlust Sensual Essence.

I’m early 40s. These are my favourite at the moment for autumn/ winter. I also wear Jo Malone Lime Basil & Mandarin in the summer.

Diptyque Do Son
Diptyque Orphèon
Ex Nihilo Lust in Paradise
Frederic Malle Carnal Flower
Jo Malone Cypress & Grapevine

I’m in my 50s and I’m a huge fan of almost your whole list

I love tuberose, my favourite is Fracas.
current special occasions blow out purchase - Byredo d’afrique

however I also love YSL Libre , for some reason it just really works for me and is a good every day/ work scent

and an outlier - guerlain insolence, definitely a love or hate one

White tea by Elizabeth arden

Me too! Asked a lady in a lift what she was wearing and have been using it ever since :)

M&S Spiced Amber. I really don't have much money at all, and it's cheap (£6.40 for 30ml currently) but I get loads of compliments when I wear it

MiddleAgedDread · Yesterday 22:06

None, I can’t bear any artificial smells these days.

https://vilhelmparfumerie.com/collections/all/products/darling-nikki-50-ml

but also pretty much any of them I would happily wear

I love the basilico and Fellini one from VP, it’s gorgeous.
also Jo Malone spiced apricot and sandalwood which has taken the top spot from my favourite of their perfumes, it was always lime basil and mandarin until then. I think it’s a Christmas special one from last year but I just wear it whenever I want because I love it and don’t ’save things’, I use them and move on!
And the other one I’m loving at the moment is Phlur Father Figure.

Floral street wonderland peony
Zara wonder rose
Ted baker raspberry and orange blossom

pedropascalslittlefinger · Yesterday 22:16

Jean Paul gaultier classique - been wearing this for years!

gucci floral - the lilac one

Allmarbleslost · Yesterday 22:18

Chanel Chance. It's been my favourite for about 20 years but now you've got me wondering if I'm meant to have a different scent now I'm 20 years older!

Optimisticdramalarma · Yesterday 22:18

I wear this one (I get it for about £13 on ebay)

I swear I've had people chase me around work (I work in retail) or in the street to ask what it is im wearing

Either that or 'just musk' (again on ebay, but i tried the black bottle and dp likes that one better)

Both great budget buys as I cant justify £££ on perfume

What perfume are we wearing in our 40s?
JW13 · Yesterday 22:20

@SharkPantsI’m also a bronze goddess/blanc soleil for the summer. For autumn/winter I wear YSL Libre and Tom Ford Santal Blush

Dancingintherain09 · Yesterday 22:24

Im 47 next month and wear mademoiselle and miss dior. I always get compliments.

Another favourite currently is Alien Goddess Theirry Mugler.

And winter i have been liking Lost Cherry by Tom Ford
Summer I still love D&G light Blue
Penhaligons Halfeti is rather lovely, as is Luna

Wear what you love and never mind age. My Aunt wore Miss Dior all her life, it was her signature scent.

Avocodo - I also wear White Tea, sometimes Green Tea by EA.

Ooh, I’ve just replaced my Green Tea the other day!

I like Jimmy Choo ( the original one)
Wanderlust Michael Kors
Happy Heart Clinique
Idole Lancôme
Glow J Lo

I used to love Stella, by Stella McCarney, but they discontinued it!
I do use the Divain 655 dupe which is ok

i always wear perfume, even if I don’t leave the house!

lordbaddingham · Yesterday 22:26

I liked Chanel mademoiselle but I lost it at a wedding and could never bring myself to spend the money again. My go to is givenchy very irresistible but I think it might be a bit old fashioned now. I have Lost Cherry but it's quite masculine, the Zara dupe is much nicer I think. I like Gucci bloom too. And and have the shay and blue, lilac and gooseberries. I like the florals!

lordbaddingham · Yesterday 22:28

Oh and floral street sweet almond blossom, love an almond scent

whythehellnow · Yesterday 22:31

Always Bronze Goddess for summer! I like Pomegranate Noir for winter but it’s a bit common - could do with a new winter one. I like the idea of 4 bottles, one for each season. I LOVE Lancôme Miracle - that would be my daily but for some reason I don’t prioritise perfume spending and I never see it on offer when I’m not in spending mode - summer/winter.

grinandslothit · Yesterday 22:32

L'Occitane Miel & Citron

whythehellnow · Yesterday 22:32

I like the M and S perfumes - the Pink Pepper and the pale blue one are both gorge and v cheap.

playinthedarkness · Yesterday 22:49

New favourite for me is Ghost luna goddess- had more compliments wearing this than any other
