I think beauty advent calendars got really good around 2020-22 and it’s been a bit of a slide backwards since then!

Boots no7 a/c £65 was on sale in my local today. I’m not sure if it qualifies for the £10 off a £20 no7 offer that’s on atm. I meant to ask the assistant and forgot 🙈

My thinking atm is that I will hold fire until everything is out/revealed and then buy ONE that appeals the most/has the fewest DODs/is the best value for me.

The dream would be to find some good reductions later in the year/BF deals like I have had in the past 😹

I’m with others upthread - if they sell out they sell out. I have so much stuff already and shouldn’t really get anything but it would be nice to have one to open that’s not my refilled ones, (and, of course, the S&G that I forget EVERY day - I wouldn’t be surprised if I forget to open it completely!)

I’m setting aside the Korean a/cs from the above sensible thinking - if they are as good as in previous years, I will try for one of those instead as soon as they go on sale.

Really like the look of the Elle one. Asked ChatGPT to compare it to Space NK and Glossybox and it almost had kittens, told me to stop buying advent calendars and I'd end up with a 'serum mountain'.

Now feel like I must go behind its back and shop in secret... what sort of dystopian nonsense is this? 😂

I have Elle in my basket but haven’t checked out yet. Am thinking I should maybe behave and look out for the bits I like from it on Vinted. However, it is the first day of a little 4 night break in Croatia and I am about to go out for a few drinks. We will see how good my restraint is when I get back 😂

I am interested in the Murad product, maybe the fragrance, the CT cream looks appealing now I know it is a 30ml even though I don’t need it! 😐 The skin care appeals to me but the hair bits and make up don’t interest me much

So I managed a little bit of perfume sampling today. I forgot my list so I had a bit of a panic and then couldn't think what was on the list 🤣 Anyway, I managed to get my nose on a few;
ORMONDE JAYNE Suede Silhouette Eau De Parfum from the Selfridge's FAC - I thought this seemed quite boozy on the opening, it made me and my husband go 'whooph' 🤣 but it dried down to something very cosy and soft. I think it'll be nice for autumn and I found myself sniffing my arm where I'd sprayed it.
V CANTO Arkano Della Luna Extrait de Parfum - I couldn't really smell this, so I wasn't at all impressed with it.
Bibbi Parfum The Last Mango - I didn't like this at all. Not for me.
FRAGRANCE DU BOIS Patchouli Gourmand Haute Perfume - loved this one, it's sweet and cosy, another one that will be nice for autumn / winter.

From the Harrods calendar:
BDK Parfums Impadia Eau de Parfum - softer than Delina, but really nice, I like it.
Maison Francis Kurkdjian Oud Velvet Mood Extrait de Parfum - I really didn't like this, it was too strong for me. But I did smell it after the bdk, so maybe that's why.
Thameen Patiala Extrait de Parfum - a pretty perfume, I liked it
Jeroboam Gozo Extrait de Parfum - this one is gorgeous, another one that I couldn't stop sniffing.
MEMO PARIS Omnia Omnibus Ubique Eau de Parfum - someone said this one smelt of horses to it intrigued me a bit. I think it does smell a bit like countryside, but I like it. It's quite sweet in the opening. Other all, I'm pleased that I've managed to buy the Harrods FAC.

I also smelt the Initio Oud for Grace and Fragrance Du Bois Forbidden Plum which are both Harrods exclusives, both are absolutely stunning fragrances but wayyyy too expensive for me 😔

I liked Elle, I wasn’t buying Elle. Until I did 🙄. It is good value for me, with the Zelens, Murad, Bio-effect, Sunday Riley, Votary and Tatcha but I really didn’t need it! I’m looking forward to trying the youth bomb again- I had it when it first came out and was unimpressed because it had a weird smell. The reviews are so good though that I’m prepared to try again!

I'm using Youthbomb at the moment. I like it. It seems somewhere between a serum and an oil. Not sure it's made an amazing difference but I've only used half a bottle. It's played nicely with everything I've put underneath and on top of it.

cope as the gwp only ends tomorrow and they have Sarah Creal launching on the 1st - could be the week after as they are normally one of the last and Selfridges Bac Boots and LF are all on the 1st and think Cult is the 3rd

I don't know why some people's chat gpts have turned on them when it comes to BACs, mine has told me I need to buy Liberty, Selfridges AND Harrods as they will be 10/10 for skincare care, make-up and hair and 11/10 for fragrance for me. Mind you, I haven't told it what I've already got 😅

That is a very odd collection of items. Postcards, keychain, patches. That’s a definite no.

After a very long AI chat over a number of weeks, analysing all the releases, debating whether to do a DIY BAC and also considering my existing stash, this is the latest advice I’ve been given (I love the last bit, so enabling 😂):

My personal recommendation:
Don’t buy an advent because you’re afraid you’ll regret missing one.
Buy one only if you think: “Oh yes. I really, really want that.”
And if that happens, buy the one you want with zero guilt. You don’t need it. That’s precisely why it’s a treat. ❤️
