@JoRaRaRa - I am glad your dad’s surgery went well x

Have a great time in London. Which show are you seeing?

We went to see le chat noir. I'm paying for the amount of wine I drank this morning though 🤢 I don't really drink anymore, so I should've taken it easy! Oops! We walked back from the show to the hotel and I just remember saying 'good evening' to everyone we passed and stopping any dog that walked by to stroke them 🙈🤣

IlovePond · 30/08/2026 08:24

@clary - just a thought re: the hair oil - Diary of a Beauty Geek reviewed the calendar and said she thought the oil smelled vile. It might be worth trying to have a sniff of that in advance!

IlovePond · 30/08/2026 08:33

That sounds lovely @JoRaRaRa I had never heard of Le Chat Noir and have just had a quick Google - it sounds fascinating.

Was it good?

(I’m quite tempted to go myself now, although I can’t see how to book the vegetarian option!)

viccabelle · 30/08/2026 08:41

SucksToBeYou · 29/08/2026 20:27

Oh this is incredible-I had no idea that you could use AI this way! The camel trousers are lovely, I have a similar pair and will be following your AI styling tips when I wear them in the future. Can I ask which service you use and if you think it is worth getting a subscription as a general user?

It's just Chat GPT but yeah with a subscription. Unless you're going to use it all the time with more complex reasoning I would say the subscription isn't worth paying for but you could have a play about either the free version as I'm sure it still does all of these things you just have limits.

IlovePond · 30/08/2026 08:52

Meanwhile, I am quite tempted by the Boots K&J beauty box as I could add some of the contents to my DIY calendar.

I am very interested in a Korean calendar this year. There’s no info out yet about YESSTYLE and StyleKorean’s calendars. However YESSTYLE is very hard to get hold of and I seem to remember that SK’s was pricey, (but could be wrong). I know Sylvan Glow’s was nice last year, but I remember thinking that was quite expensive too, (but can’t really remember 🤷‍♀️)

I’m signed up to PureSeoul’s waiting list and OMC’s.

OMC are bombarding me with emails, which is extremely annoying - I shall be unsubscribing as soon as the calendar appears!

Puravida23 · 30/08/2026 09:07

I ponder advent choices every day . There seems to be a bit of a downer on Liberty because of the leaking product . But that aside I think it has quite a bit going for it . I rejected it because it is too perfume heavy and I own a lot of the products already but if you like perfume it could be a good choice.
I actually like Spacenk another one which has had mixed feedback but the AB body cream annoys me it would be a sure bet for me If it was a different product but I may still buy.
The other popular one is Harrods and on paper this is the one I should buy but there is some bit of excitement missing which is stopping me at the moment . I think it is too many creams possibly
Other contenders to consider are Cult Beauty and Elle looks really good this year. This is on my potential list too

That's actually really sweet, bless you. Sort of thing I'd do, too ❤️

IlovePond · 30/08/2026 09:16

I think Elle is pretty good, but there are too many products I wouldn’t use, ditto CB. SNK does nothing for me this year.

I do like Harrods - but spending all that money when I had stupidly been saving up via BD for Liberty just seems like a no-no.

For me, Harrods is way above all the other high end calendars in terms both of value AND products I actually like the look of!

If Harrods do a 10% reduction like last year, then I might well crack.

Does anyone know if Liberty are doing a men’s calendar this year? It seems a bit odd that they haven’t even mentioned it, if so. When did they release details of the men’s version last year?

Thanks

RipplePlease6 · 30/08/2026 09:25

@IlovePond
If you’re interested in le chat noir, go and see The Christmas Feast in a couple of months. It’s by the same company and one of the best shows/experiences/meals I’ve been to. We went to see it in 2021 and I still sometimes think about it now.

LagoLady · 30/08/2026 09:27

I’ve seen so many negative comments about Space NK online. I’m wondering if they will be left with excess stock, and end up reducing it?

I think I’m going to take the risk and wait it out to see what, if any get discounted.

IlovePond · 30/08/2026 09:33

Thanks @RipplePlease6 - I will look into it.

I’m with you , well exactly with you . I’ve got the LBDP credit so I am waiting to see the men’s but I do really want the Harrods after seeing all the rest. And I am going to wait for the 10% it’s a gamble ! Still waiting for I my cream and Niche though . And the Selfrideges FBAC !!! 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ but when and how much is getting annoying . I really wish they would all crack on now . At this rate I’ll be stuffing an old one last minute 😂😂😂 first world probs .

@JoRaRaRa I do this , nause off every dog owner 😂 glad you had a good time though.

Isabelle70 · 30/08/2026 09:46

I am undecided, I thought I wanted Liberty as I really like the box and can purchase VAT free easily. But it has face oil that I am not keen on, maybe I should have Harrods again?
I have decided against Selfridges as that’s too make up heavy.
But I will be ordering the SFAC at the end of September depending on the price of course!

Flaneura · 30/08/2026 09:47

@JoRaRaRa amazing to hear your dad's operation went well, really happy for you.

I ordered Harrods BAC last week, out of the more premium ones this was the best fit for me as it has some luxury skincare I would typically not pay full price for but would love to try. The three eye products particularly the AB and the Sheseido made the decision easier. I did like SNK as well and really loved it last tear, but this year i have a much larger stash of stuff and am more interested in the more high end products.
Since then I've been following the reveals to see if there's perhaps one of the budget friendly ones I'd also like. But none of them really seem right for me this year. I had OK last year and enjoyed it but this year is too similar and 3 products are actually identical! GB has a few good products but most of its items are not really interesting to me. LF is decent and a bit more tempting, but I had a little search and decided the bundle of two Hearst beauty boxes which is reduced to 116 (as a bundle) is probably a better option for me than an actual second BAC. So I've gone with this one and will use one of my empty BACs to put the products in.

It has 27 products, 13 full-sized and is mostly skincare. and has 2 Zelens products and a Votary cream and other good skin care and a few hair and makeup products.

It was really good. They do a Jazz one too called 58th Street, we went to that one in May and it was amazing! I love jazz music. I'd like to go to the Christmas feast that @RipplePlease6 mentioned, but they're expensive so it'll have to be next year.

I had the StyleKorean AC last year and loved it. It was around £140-£150 I think?

I'm interested in the PureSeoul one this year too. Ordered Yepoda for DD and it's already arrived, and the little suitcase is so cute!

PlumRed · 30/08/2026 10:03

Is anyone else feeling a bit underwhelmed by the advent calendars this year? 🙈 I’m definitely less impressed than I have been in previous years, and that’s after not even buying one last year!

Harrods is probably the one that appeals to me most, but for some reason something is still putting me off actually buying it 😂 Does anyone know when the 10% off is likely to be?

Also, which calendars do we think won’t sell out and might end up being reduced later on? 👀 Interested to know which ones everyone else is holding out for!

Advententhusiast · 30/08/2026 10:23

So if you put the big ones side to side, where are we all at?

CB 245 (20 pounds giftcard when buying it at launch):
2 versions.

Both seem to have pro's and cons this year. No home products but variety of body, face and make up. However, the make up choices seem to be colors that havent sold well/ arent popular. Dods: Byoma, Ordinary, SDJ and the CT setting spray seems to be the new wand. Its everywhere.

John Lewis 250:
Nice range but waaaay too many mini's for that price. Companies can call it full size but it doesnt make it so 😏. If you want to buy the Foreo, you might as well get the rest. And thats my problem with this one. It looks like a 150 pound calender to me when looking at the other products (and sizes)

Selfridges 250 :
Seems to have a nice variety between products. Make up, skincare, fragrance, home and body. If you like the Lola perfume its a winner. But i cannot get it over here so its a risk. Also some DODs like the Bee venom, SDJ, Ordinary, BW. The brush etc

Harrods 250:
Seems to be the best value for money if you love skincare. Not much else or much variety though. Its missing a candle or another perfume for me. But it does seem like the best of the bunch. DODs: PK, Hairspray, eyelashcurler. Tsssk

F&M 275:
Lovely box. Nice variety of type of products, home and body/skin/ perfume. But I dont know the perfumes and thats a major part of the calendar. No make up either if thats your thing. They have products that arent in other calenders much.

Liberty 285:
Leaky broth, nothing exciting. Lots of perfume. Which is my thing but not this curation. A lot of them smell quite particular, heavy and we have seen these everywhere in the previous years. They couldve mixed it up much better. Throw in Byredo and PDM, Initio or Le Labo. Tends to be much more mainstream. Beautiful box and stringbag I guess.

SpaceNK 275:
Seems to have had the biggest shrinkflation. Brands like Byoma, Ordinary, Laneige etc are all full sizes. Big ones for the photo. The premium produxts like Tatcha, La Mer etc have been downsized. AB included but body, 2 showergels etc...
DOD: PK, CTwand, eyelashcurlers, SDJ and not even a full size. I want to say something positive but cannot find it.

Vogue 355 pounds:
Biggest variety on items. But some DODs for me. Burberry Her has no business being in there for THAT money and beither does the CT wand. Some prices of products seem to bloated like the socks. Most expensive one of the bunch. Big plus is the variety for full experience.

In short: Ill wait for reductions. If they sell out, they sell out. Wont lose a nights sleep over it.

FantasticatHeadShouldersKneesandToes · 30/08/2026 10:27

Yes I'm underwhelmed, i started feeling that way last year, but even more so this year. I did wonder if it's because I've been spoiled by previous years. I just find the calendars a bit regurgitated. I also wonder if the so called high value products are genuinely worth their value, are they made for calendars, a bit like products made for outlets? Or are they low selling products? Or products reaching their expiry?
I used to love the distraction of life problems by getting involved in the beauty advent calendar madness, but now there's no joy at all. I do realise that maybe the problem is me, I've had/got lots going on, but i just can't shift the disillusioned feeling.
I'm not interested in the Harrods calendar at all, I find the box design boring. I also feel there's too many sample sized products.
I'm also put off by all the resellers etc, it feels abit like ticket touts. It's just lost the excitement for me. I want to be excited about them, that's why I stay on these threads

I am a bit but that's a good thing in a way because I don't want the temptation of loads I really like.

I'm going to get CB and I have Harrods FAC coming.

I'm very tempted by LF but only for about 6 products most of which I know I like. So I wouldn't be getting it as an advent to open, it would be to add things like back up MAC Fix + to my stash. I'm having a battle with the sensible voice in my head that says "but you don't need those right now."

Harrods, like SpaceNK, just doesn't quite hit spot for the high price. I like Vogue but again I think it's just too much to spend for the few things in it I really like.

I like Boots Luxe for similar reasons to LF.

Quite like Fenwick but I'm trying to only get one £200 + BAC.

I really liked Niche last year but it hasn't been revealed yet and it's usually a similar price to Vogue. It did get discounted last year but not until later on at which point I've usually spent more than enough.

Plus I'm interested in Selfridges FAC, when it appears, and now also the Harrods Home Fragrance.

My thoughts this are all over the place but at the moment only Cult Beauty has me committing to a purchase.

No for me, don’t like the make up colours. Wanted the AB The Rich Cream but that’s about it. Easy pass.
John Lewis 250:
Ordered! Arriving next weekend.
Selfridges 250 :
Lots I’d like to try in here - tempted. Not interested in the fragrances so would sell those to try to justify buying another one!
Harrods 250:
Ordered! Sucked in by the thought of the Harrods name! 😂
F&M 275:
Ordered! Like the range of different types of products. Also sucked in to signing up as a Friend of Fortnums so have a welcome box on its way too!
Liberty 285:
Doesn’t appeal at all.
SpaceNK 275:
I love the box! Not too interested in the rest.
Vogue 355 pounds:
Not interested in the jewellery so put me off from the start.

My Liberty has arrived and it’s a thing of beauty , no leaking broth here . I am waiting for delivery of Anthropology but it’s delayed . Now I want to see the reveals for Diptique and the Harrods home fragrance then I’m done unless one of them is a dud and I’ll check out Penhaligans .

Itsablondebobkindaday · 30/08/2026 11:18

Does anyone know when Sephora is going to do a full reveal? I normally treat myself to a BAC every two years (takes me that long to get through all the products!) but my usual Space NK isn’t jumping out to me this year. I can’t put my finger on it. It’s great value, lots of products I like the look of, a few products that are my go too’s so a spares always handy but the wow factor isn’t there. There’s nothing that feels like an indulgence. It’s all very functional. I honestly think Space NK needs to think about including a lovely candle, or a well thought out eyeshadow quad in future years. Something that feels like a treat.

Anyway back to Sephora, I got sidetracked there! So far it looks great and I’m hoping the full reveal will sell it to me.
