I looked at Glossyboxfor my daughter. Asked AI to pick out what was safe for her and what I could sell on - given that I think I have enough calendar items coming , I don’t need to keep anything she can’t use.
It suggested I should sell these and came up with these prices - how realistic are these prices? Assume Vinted will be full of people selling these stuff they don’t want.
Medik8 Hydr8 B5 Intense 30ml: Sells for £40 – £48. This brand is highly respected, and its products hold their resale value incredibly well. 1, 2]
Commodity Milk Orchid Expressive 30ml: Sells for £35 – £45. Premium, niche perfumes are popular online and easy to sell if they are unused. 1]
Avant Antioxidising Micro-Algae Eye Protect Serum: Sells for £30 – £40. Avant has a sky-high RRP, so buyers view it as a luxury treat. 1]
Rodial Collagen Drops 30ml: Sells for £24 – £26. Even though the box says it is worth £85, the high volume of sellers keeps the marketplace price lower. 1]
Doctors Formula Probiotics 12 Hour Day Protection Moisturiser 50ml: Sells for £7 – £12. This brand is heavily discounted on auction sites, so it does not fetch near its official £89 price tag

Even if these items sold for their lowest prices here, that’s over £130 back! Is that even feasible?

Before you continue to Google Search

owlpassport · 26/08/2026 20:54

@Nomorechocs no, it's not realistic. Medik8 B5 is £45 on Space NK, not on Vinted. The perfume is tricky, you might get £20ish but as you say the market will be saturated. There's a Rodial Collagen on Vinted now for £15 that hasn't sold yet. And Avant is not a 'luxury treat', it's a beauty box brand that isn't worth the RRP.

AI is crap. The best way to estimate what you'd get is to keep an eye on Vinted, what's listing for what price and what's selling.

MrsBnow12 · 26/08/2026 20:57

@Nomorechocs I recently sold a Medik8 for £25 and expect the perfume would sell for around £30 on Vinted.
The other items would be a struggle unless you get lucky and expect you would get £20-£25 for all 3 and the prices will go lower as the market gets flooded.

Avant does not sell for that on Vinted. I rarely get more than £4 for anything by Avant.

The Medik8 serum maybe £15-20

Commodity perfume £25-30. The Milk Orchid was popular and fairly new so probably has the best resale value if you put it on Vinted the same day you receive it before the market is saturated.

Detective work alert. We can be excited about CB again.

I found the CB video with REN. I believe it's an AI fake.
https://www.tiktok.com/@anto_beauty_and_co/video/7676402250259975457

Reasons

Some of the products look 'off' in size and design - the Laneige Cream Skin and CT Mist.

CB already revealed the Huda lip liner and Hourglass lipstick which is missing and replaced in this photo with a CT lipstick and pillow talk liner.

Biggest tell is if you look closely at the WA mascara there's a second mascara wand growing out of the top of the tube. Also the size of the PT blush is off and doesn't have the PT embossing in the powder.

I so hope you’re right, and if so I apologise for bringing fake news!

JoRaRaRa · 26/08/2026 21:04

I recently sold the medik8 serum for £25 on vinted, but if you wait until it's flooded, I don't think you'll get anything more than £15 for it. Avant stuff doesn't sell for much, neither does rodial. Well not in my experience.

Nomorechocs · 26/08/2026 21:05

Thanks, that’s what I needed to hear - I’m not buying it!

OvaHere · 26/08/2026 21:08

ElizabethG81 · 26/08/2026 21:03

No need to apologise. It's getting really hard to distinguish AI at a glance and tiktok videos flash by quickly. I had to pause it numerous times and really scrutinise to spot the flaws.

JoRaRaRa · 26/08/2026 21:08

If anyone is wanting the PT blush duo (she's the moment) from the Glossybox bac, I received one in the recent Patrick ta mystery bundle and have just listed it on vinted.

Also, I posted on the beauty chat thread but I'll post here too, be careful of buying Patrick Ta blush duos on vinted, it seems it's the new product to fake 😕 I wish I'd listed mine when I received it now instead of just looking at it every time I went into the dining area 🤣

Nomorechocs · 26/08/2026 21:09

I think we should have a swaps group, I really want the AB The Rich Cream but have plenty I don’t want on its way! I’ve seen a 7ml The Rich Cream on Vinted for £8 but feel apprehensive about buying it on there.

ElizabethG81 · 26/08/2026 21:14

Other products I’ve found there are a lot of fakes of are Gisou lip oils and K18 hair masks. I’ve had more success selling these on Facebook rather than eBay or Vinted as I think people can recognise that you’re clearly selling from BACs/edits and can trust you more.

Oh and Summer Fridays lip balms.

IlovePond · 26/08/2026 21:15

I’m so sorry to hear about your mum
@Doglover73 - I hope that you can still find some joy in the run up to Xmas 💐

I am also sorry to hear about your parents @JoRaRaRa and @RainbowZebraWarrior I hope that the news is better soon xxx

Flaneura · 26/08/2026 21:25

Just catching up with the threads after a few days.

So sorry to hear so many are having a hard time. Sending love and good thoughts to you 🏵

I also discovered this corner in mumsnet last year, when I was going through hell with work; after having started a job that was amazing on paper and which was supposed to be a great foundational step for my career progression... I am now on a long term leave trying to rebuild my mental health and find a new way forward in life.... and like many others I really enjoy coming here and reading comments and thoughts and predictions about calendars, products and essentially self-care.
I am also aware that at times like this, I have a tendency to over-shop, so I have gone through my stash, categorised things, and am going to try and make sure I won't accumulate more that 12 months worth of products ('try' being the key word, haha). Especially as my next year is financially unpredictable.

IlovePond · 26/08/2026 21:25

I’m disappointed with GB - not one for me this year unless it suddenly appears with a 50% reduction!

Rituals outlet at Clark’s Village had last year’s premium a/c for £96 rather than £130. I wasn’t interested at that price. (Please tell me why I bought a cotton beach towel from there instead! 🙈)

Re: CB - regardless of whether REN makes an appearance - I strongly suspect that a lot of the multi brand calendars put old(er) stock in their calendars as well as deeply unpopular shades/sample sizes.

BTW: I bought the CD gold bag skincare gift set last year with a tiny reduction but didn’t open it because I wasn’t in the mood on Xmas Day 😿

I have put the contents into my refilled Liberty DIY calendar but checked the date of manufacture on CheckFresh first. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was all manufactured in September 2025 so will be fine for this Xmas if I crack on with using it.

In the meantime I have put the bag on display in my bedroom to cheer me up!

I think Vogue is my front runner, although i still haven't looked in depth at the releases. I'm waiting for look fantastic, French pharmacy, you beauty, just my look and ok beauty.

CointreauVersial · 26/08/2026 12:03

What are people's thoughts on the OK Beauty Box (the Hannah Martin one)? Last year it looked like it had some really good stuff, but I hesitated too long and it sold out. It's about the right price point for me.

2025 was the first year since it started that I didn't get the M&S one. It was just "same old same old". Looking at the spoilers for this year it seems a lot better, so I'm tempted. I love Ylang Ylang Espresso, and have almost finished my bottle, so that would work for me.

I had OK as one of my BAC's last year and really liked it. It had a few products I happened to need so it was a good fit for me. And I think I sold 3ish items I did not want and got 40gbp back.
I found some really good products I would otherwise have not tried: then eyeliner, the highlighter, the lash serum and the mascara were all really nice and affordable items for repurchase. The Ella and Joe mask another person mentioned is also really great for my sensitive skin and I have almost gone through the whole tube. Overall good value for money.

Nomorechocs · 26/08/2026 21:41

mooshkymoo · 26/08/2026 21:19

Yes! How could we do this?

No idea but between us we must have every advent going and all have things we prefer and things we aren’t interested in. Perfume, not my thing - there are two I want to keep from my upcoming calendars. Strong retinols - also no. Seem to have fallen hard for marketing of AB and Medik8 though! 😂

The mascara wand growing out of the mascara makes me feel a bit sick 🤣

Biscuitburglar · 26/08/2026 21:58

I’ve a lot of lovely things left unused from my Liberty and SpaceNK BACs last year (a bereavement early in the year has meant that skincare has been the last thing on my mind). So I’ve crammed most of them back in the Liberty box and treated myself to an Elemis Rose cleansing balm and a big sized Sunday Riley Good Genes to fill a couple of the drawers too (currently on offer at JL).

There were still a few empty spaces so I ordered a few bits from Vinted from this year’s Liberty BAC, including the Reome broth, and guess what, it has leaked! So I think they may have a problem on their hands with that one, which is a real shame.

Refilling the Liberty box made me realise just how difficult it must be for the beauty buyers to curate the lines. A lot of the drawers are tiny and quite a few of the SpaceNK items wouldn’t fit, even some lip and eye pencils wouldn’t go in at any angle.

They must spend half their time trying measuring stuff and pulling their hair out when the perfect item that a brand is prepared to support is 3mm too wide! So if any beauty buyers are on here, I’m sending sympathy and gratitude for your patience. Have a cup of tea and a biscuit and a few weeks off before the madness starts again for next year…

AllTalkNo · 26/08/2026 22:05

Does anyone know if BACs are a thing in France? I'm going in October and would love to buy one with French pharmacy products in it (as opposed to Sephora own brand, say).

Not sure about French Pharmacy but I know Yves Rocher usually does BACs and they are very reasonably priced for the contents. (Which reminds me I miss the days they used to operate in the UK, some times you could get a full-sized bottle of decent perfume with like a 15-20 gbp spend! And their product quality is good for the price)

SummerLimes · 26/08/2026 22:36

Vogue is looking more tempting but I don’t wear much jewellery- so probably not sensible to get. Maybe edits will be amazing ..
