Travel trousers

Buggabootwo · 24/08/2026 19:02

I do a fair bit of long haul travel and usually wear stretchy M&S trousers and a long sleeve t shirt as the closest I can get to pyjamas without embarrassing my colleagues. However my trousers have seen better days so I need to buy new. I could stick with what I know, but thought I would see if the hive mind has new information. I need short length, soft and comfy, not too pricy as they are for flights only and they need to pack without creasing to buggery. Halara are a possibility, but not sure of quality or packability . Does anyone have any better suggestions?

Next do some good ones. But the thing that changed things for me is a bralette.

I don’t have small boobs 30ff yet the bra made the biggest difference for travelling

Buggabootwo · 24/08/2026 19:22

I quite like the Next ones, but they don’t do petite length and the reviews mention that they are long.

And thoroughly agree about a bralette. I’m a 34G and wear the M&S flexifit ones. It gives me a monoboob, but bloody marvellous on a plane for 10-12 hours

I have the short/petite length.

PropertyD · 24/08/2026 20:09

Me too re monoboob but I don’t think/hope anybody notices!

Saint + Sophia trousers are fabulous. Never crease. They are a jersey type fabric, elasticated waist and decent side pockets, however, they are not the cheapest. They also look smart and do shorter lengths

DeafLeppard · 24/08/2026 20:25

I just use non cuffed jogging bottoms, or I might try my Weekday balloon pants for next long haul. If I’m travelling with colleagues we have a deal where from the door of the plane onwards we pretend we don’t know each other 😄 If I’m going straight on to a work thing, I’ll change at the airport.

These from Saint and Sofia. I have them in black and light brown. They are fabulous. Great quality and very comfortable.

Another vote for saint and Sofia. I have a few pairs of their trousers and they are very comfortable.

Buggabootwo · 24/08/2026 20:58

Thanks all. I want stretchy ones so I don’t think the Next ones fit the bill. However Saint and Sofia and the Yoga pants sound very promising.

I wear compression gym leggings like Sweaty Betty.
Not only comfy and elastic but the compression stops me from blowing up like a balloon on flights which I tend to do.
Then my lovely below bum length, long sleeve grey teashirt which I love, its only JD Williams but its perfect and my longer length Baukjen cream cable jumper.
Also my gold Hotter tourist 2 sandals because however much my feet swell they will still fit.

M&S jersey trousers - straight or wide leg.

Edit: I didn’t see this was what you currently wore - I honestly wouldn’t change! They’re only £20 and wear well. They also do them in jersey denim which is also comfortable.

I buy these for work. They always look nice and never crease. Not so great when you have a white cat though. Im always sticky rollering myself.

Gettingbysomehow · 25/08/2026 07:22

I want those denim jersey trousers but my size has sold out 😫

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 25/08/2026 07:25

I think you were in the right track in your opening post with the Halara idea. I have their wide leg waffle trousers in three colours and they are honestly the most comfortable things I’ve ever worn. I initially got them for work but they’ve made their way into my regular wardrobe at times - and they have just released some new autumn colours. They don’t crease and are lightweight for packing, wash and tumble dry easily. They also come in five lengths!

if you’re on TikTok you can feel like you’re getting spammed with them but they’re worth it.

When I fly long-haul I get really hot so now prioritise breathability and well as being stretchy and super comfy. I prefer a legging as when you go to the loo on the plane there’s no fabric to drag in whatever grossness is on the floor… I really like these as they are over 90% cotton https://amzn.eu/d/06uNRh4T

if you want something not as leggingy, these pineapple kick flares are super comfortable and really flattering and again 95% cotton so very breathable. I wear these on a weekly basis and own multiple pairs.

I would try laundryb.com - Italian fabric, good cut, good quality, not too expensive.

Thisisnottheone · 25/08/2026 09:01

Sweaty Betty Explorer Trousers

Uniqlo have lots and I mean lots of options - the short length C collection wide leg joggers, the new ‘smart trouser’ is a drawstring waist wide leg jogger really, the linen trouser or the barrel legs are thick but soft cotton if you fancy a fashionable shape.

I travel a lot so all of those still look good getting off the plane.

Antibetty · 25/08/2026 09:55

I love Craghoppers Mosi-life trousers. I always buy them in black so they can look white smart. they don't crease, they are a bit stretchy, and best of all, they will wash and dry overnight in a hotel room.

Divebar2021 · 25/08/2026 10:10

I was going to suggest Uniqlo too. They have a range of jersey trousers that look smarter than joggers.

PleaseDontAsk · 25/08/2026 10:13

I wear sweaty betty power leggings. They have a constant archive sale section where you can pick them up cheaply.

5682Jhd · 25/08/2026 10:16

I love Halara, brilliant because they don’t crease. Also I’ve just brought some yoga
pant/trousers from Subdued that are really nice, lots to choose from so have a look on there website.
