I’ve got this ladybird dress, and the neckline is so low, what would you team it with ?

Thinking cami vest but what colour ? And would you get a round neck cami or v neck to try and follow the neckline ?

or would you try anything else ?

I can try fashion tape
but it’s feels a bit odd

Vest/cami to match with any of the colours in the dress. Better to get a cropped version so it covers where you need to but doesn't bunch up under the dress.

Tralalalalatata · Today 17:48

Can you go to a seamstress - or do it yourself - and sew up the front a little bit so that it is slightly less low cut? You may find even a cm or so makes all the difference.

I personally wouldn't go for a camisole as it will jar with the dress. Or could you go for a bra which separates as opposed to pushes together/up? I like Livy bras for this purpose

JustWhatIAlwaysWanted · Today 17:54

I get vests that follow the shape so I would go V neck. Cream, black or a matching red if you can get one would work.

SunflowerPicking · Today 17:55

Cute dress! I agree with the first poster, I would just wear a short red or cream cami underneath to accentuate the colours in the pattern. I do this all the time with wrap dresses and think it looks fine.

Ruthietuthie · Today 17:57

A seamstress could sew the front together a little bit, plus take it up at the shoulder seams so that there wasn't so much room in the cup, which would also mean less skin on show. It's a pretty dress.
I wouldn't go for the vest underneath option, although that would work, as I overheat, plus I think it would make it less summery in style. It's a beachy, summer strolls dress, so go with that.

Thanks for much for the advice im
hopeless at matching stuff
why I wear a lot of dresses
but I don’t feel comfortable in this one as it is so I’ll try these suggestions

There was a thread on MN a few weeks ago about people using hijab magnets for dresses with low cut v necks. They might work?

RobertaFirmino · Today 19:25

You could try a modesty panel.

Defiantly41 · Today 19:55

Aah, was anyone else expecting a Ladybird brand dress (children’s brand sold in Woolworths in the 1960s)? Cute dress though!

ThePoliteLion · Today 19:57

Maybe a sports bra underneath in a shade to compliment the dress?
Dresses that are too low cut are a pet peeve of mine. I’m 60, quite large chested, I don’t want to see my boobs out on display. Lovely dress by the way

Shatteredallthetimelately · Today 19:58

Would some type of modesty panel work?

concertinacornflake · Today 19:59

I'd find something to match the green as the ladybirds want to be the most noticeable bit. Cream or black would also be fine, but green would be better.

SchnitzelAgain · Today 20:00

Modesty panel? What is that?

Yes I was !

But in answer to the OP’s question I would wear a scoop vest or a strappy type that goes straight across. I don’t think trying to follow the shape with a V neck will look right,
snd a round neck would be too high up.

Modesty panel? What is that?

Piece of material that pins inside your clothing to cover your cleavage. Means you don’t have the extra weight of a vest when it’s hot.

lmnabc · Today 20:27

Lovely dress. Great to see that Fenwick is still going strong

Pashazade · Today 20:29

Yup I’ve used hijab magnets before, you can get them from Amazon in sets of different colours. Otherwise a straight across vest.

Edited

This 100%. Personally I'd wear a white one , but whatever suits you

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · Today 20:40

vest or Cami or brooch or small safety pin inside dress to fasten it.

YYURYYUCICYYUR4ME · Today 20:41

A body or a built in bra camisole from Uniqlo

I’d go with a little cami with a nice wee lace trim or something, that’s what I usually do with low cut dresses
