Leaving for a wedding in an hour. Non church wedding, casual ish venue (ie not a big manor or anything) likely to be fun and relaxed

No specified dress code

Its approx 400 degrees 🥵

Do I dress... smart, feel comfortable but very hot (trousers, shirt, jacket)

Smart, less hot but uncomfortable (linen shirt, tailored shorts, shirt is maybe a size smaller than id feel comfortable in)

More casual, but comfortable and less hot (knee length dress)

Please help, I dont do formal 😩

Why would you wear a jacket in this weather? lots of summery dresses in the shops?

Potooooooooes · 15/08/2026 11:46

Dress.

Have a lovely time.

24Dogcuddler · 15/08/2026 11:46

I agree dress Relax and enjoy.

Bluepower · 15/08/2026 11:47

Knee length dress definitely.

Cooldani · 15/08/2026 11:47

Dresses are more usual at a wedding aren’t they?

fishfingergermanbight · 15/08/2026 11:47

Dress 100%. Take a small spray bottle of water in your bag, you can discreetly spray your legs under the table and it will help cool you down!

MyballsareSandy2015 · 15/08/2026 11:48

It’s a lot cooler today! Where are you?
go for the dress

Cantyouseethishorselovesme · 15/08/2026 11:49

Not shorts, you'll feel restricted by the waistband. A free flowing summery dress will be perfect.

They're not usual for me 😬 Im quite androgynous and dress that way too often mistaken for a bloke!

But the dress isnt fitted, just questioning if too casual.

Although perimenopause has me questioning my entire existence currently so thats on trend at least

You wear a smart and seasonal dress

Why would you consider a trouser suit as more appropriate? You aren’t going to an office do.

certainly not tailored shorts, again this isn’t a corporate event or a beach club

friedaklein · 15/08/2026 11:51

Post a pic of the dress?

Post a pic of the dress?

My camera is smashed and like looking through fog, Its similar to this but the background colour is black rather than white

I should think that would be fine in this weather.

Such a dated view 🤣

lovemelongtime · 15/08/2026 12:01

Go for option 1 and ditch the jacket as soon as service is over?

rosesarebluer · 15/08/2026 12:01

Def The dress, I was at a wedding yesterday and most of the women were in strappy summer dresses and sandals

Comfortable loose dress. Preferably cotton or linen. Take a fan.

hahabahbag · 15/08/2026 12:04

Dress, I like it!

Clarinet1 · 15/08/2026 12:04

I think the dress is fine! Enjoy the wedding!

JustLookingThanks · 15/08/2026 12:06

The bride and groom will want you there and not collapsing from heat stroke. Wear whatever is coolest, nice perfume, hair as good as you can get it in hot weather and a big smile. The dress looks lovely have a wonderful day.

AFPotts · 15/08/2026 12:07

That sort of dress would be great. If you feel the need to, can you smarten it up further with fancy shoes/bag/jewellery?

Your own style sounds great and individual, but comfort might have to come first just for today.

😂😂😂
If OP is only thinking about what to wear an hour before she leaves I’d say she is not actually interested in what she looks like at all, and she’s not emotionally invested in the couple and the occasion.

Dated is a very odd term to use. My comments were based on OPs post and how that translates to reality.

Because she doesn’t wear dresses ? Not all women do.
