Perhaps I'm wrong, but from reading other comments from @PhaedraTwo in my time on MN S&B threads, I think that "all [her] clothes" might amount to about a twentieth of the numbers amassed by many others.
Some people, on those MN threads about what they have bought lately, sound almost compulsive about the need to buy something brand new on a weekly basis. And those purchases seem to be almost always fairly cheap fast fashion.
In contrast, PhaedraTwo's purchases seem to be the antithesis of that - fewer clothes but more expensive/higher quality. So I think she might be talking about hand-washing just a few things each week - not the equivalent of several machine loads!!!
Even for a relative sloven like me, I actually don't mind a bit of hand-washing (silks & woollens, mostly). Some gentle eco-friendly detergent in the sink or bath, items left to soak, a bit of swishing around in fresh water & a thorough rinse under the tap/shower head ... squeeze them out & you're done!
(Although this Vogue article turns into a bit of a puff piece for The Laundress' products, it does give good basic advice - but I'm mainly posting it for the really gorgeous photo of Kate Moss & Christy Turlington! They're exquisite!)
