Apple-shape needing flattering wedding guest outfit

Twonewcats · 26/07/2026 15:45

Praying some of you can help me find a flattering outfit 🙏
I never wear dresses, but would love to wear one for a wedding I'm going to in a few weeks. Preferably midi or maxi length.

I can't walk in high stilettos, so it'd need to be wearable with either kitten heels or wedges.

Budget, up to £100.
I am size 16.
5ft 5.
Apple/barrel shape around tummy.
Largeish bust.
51 years old.
Blonde straightish hair, past shoulder length.

Thanks so much 😍

Ive just bought this for a wedding in August. Im same shape and size but 65. It gives me shape and looks wonderful. Wearing with ballet flats as cant wear heels.

And its in the sale!

That will look a lot better with flats than those silly boots!

What about something like this? Love the colours. 😍 Comes in petite or regular.

Oh fab! Someone bought it on another thread for an Indian wedding and they were pleased with the quality- I didn't suggest it. They'd already found it. I was pleased to hear it was even better than they thought it would be. Here's the thread, there might be some other suggestions on it.

Have you tried looking on Vinted. I have bought 6 summer dresses in the same style as it looks so good. Try putting in either Nobodys Child ir Finery into the search.

Hi, yes, I've had a brief look. My worry is that I'd have to try them on, but if I knew for certain what size/if they fit me well, then I'd def buy them from Vinted x

@Twonewcats I took a punt and bought a 16 thinking if it didnt fit I would just put it back on Vinted. Fitted a treat. 😁

Do you have a big bust and tummy? I'm always anxious that my bust will look squished into things. I'm a EE cup, I think

Nobody’s Child is a risk with big boobs. They often cut the chest very small

Megsdaughter · 26/07/2026 19:04

Im a DD now, lost a lot of weight recently and have a large apron belly. That shape with a under bust seam and button through has really hung beautifully covering belly and as the bust area is gatheted into the seam there is plenty of room.

This is a beautiful colour and great price in the sale. https://www.monsoon.co.uk/payton-puff-sleeve-midi-dress-blue-20004450178.html

I am apple shaped but with a larger bust and find this style of dress flatters me.
