Face cream for dry skin - NOT skin food by Weleda

I have been using Weleda for about 2 years now, it done me well but I think my skin has become so used to it that it no longer does the job and possibly need to change. My skin seems extremely dry at the minute, more than usual and I need to find a face cream that works well and one that is reasonably priced. I can consider £30 as a max amount. Also willing to use anything that might be better than a cream, a serum maybe or an oil. Thank you.

Lots of propel swear by a hylauronic acid to lock moisture in but I find a decent cream and a facial oil at night works better for me

Avene Cicalfate!! Miraculous stuff - about £15 for a big tube. Very good quality and a French pharmacy cult classic

I'm using beauty of joseon red bean water gel in the day and elemis rose marine cream at night , the former sits well under make up but you need to leave it to dry for 5 minutes , I usually put it on then go and brush my teeth and by the time in done it's dry. The latter is lovely after cleansing at night. Which face wash/cleanser are you using I find lots dry my skin out

What are you washing with - be super careful you’re not stripping the skin with soap?

Oil on wet skin is my preferred solution when things get v dry: straight out of shower, pat dry, and put drops of oil on, massage in.

The Ordinary do a beautiful rose hip oil. Or my current favourite is by RMS.

My dry , sensitive skin loves Clinique DDMl. You get a lot on the bottle too.

I’ve been really struggling with dry patches and recently bought the massive tub of CeraVe Moisturising Cream, it seems to be helping along with the Avene Cicalfate recommended above.

I’ve sworn by this for years now. I use it as a day cream, it sits really well with make up for me. I had combination skin which is now dry post menopause, and this is fantastic.

I have very dry sensitive skin. Most moisturisers cause me problems. This is by far the best thing ive used. Inkey list Bio-Active Ceramide moisturiser, such a great product. I have a few different high end moisturisers.bur reach for this more often than not.

I have severe eczema and dry skin. Super oily balmy moisturisers make it worse and sore rather than actually moisturising it just traps the skin.

I use Habi Moisture Magic Water Moisturiser. Works like a charm and not greasy and sticky. £4.30.

Second this. When your skin settles you might need something less heavy for day to day; la Roche posay do loads but while it’s dry you can’t go wrong with cicaplast balm. I’ve very reactive skin too and never have a reaction from la Roche posay products. I pair it with their toleraine cleanser which is just lovely - really good cleanser but also leaves skin soft. It’s a large bottle that does you for months.

This is all I use now, and swear by it. I’ll never change my face cream again unless it get’s discontinued.
I’ve also received numerous compliments on my skin in the two years or so (been using it for three years now)

I know this is not at all fancy, but I have recently just been using E45 on my face and it has worked a treat for my skin, which is dry and prone to flaring up at the drop of a hat.

I cleanse with weleda calendula oil and a hot face cloth.

I’ve used Vaseline intensive care (the white one), although it’s more a whitey grey container of late. A little goes a long way.

I was put on it years ago by a dermatologist when I my eczema was so bad I was bathing my eyes open.

This. My DD has very dry skin at times and loves this. Also La Roche Posay Cicaplast. She loves both, says Cicalfate is a little more moisturising.

Epaderm is also very moisturising although I don’t know if I’d use it on my face, very thick

L'occitane shea butter face cream, the 25% one for night and I use the light version for day. It's so comfortable and not greasy.

If you like what you've been using, how about applying a final balm on top after everything else? I use Elizabeth Arden 8 hr nighttime miracle. I use it morning and night, a tiny dab when face is still damp from serums. For me it's the perfect primer for foundation in the day, at night it feels luxurious and when I wake up in the morning my skin feels really cared for.

Meant to add, my skin is dry, the richest "nighttime" moisturisers still leave my face feeling taught and dry after a few min without this balm layer on top.

Cicaplast is great to repair skin barrier. Once better, try Dr Haushka rose day cream

I really helped mine by using an HA serum. Think I used Inkey List. Then used Ordinary HA factors with photceramides. It seriously helped with the dryness. Also stopped using face wash. I get on much better with cream - been using Garnier Rose cleansing milk with a nice moisturising toner in the big bright square bottles, I forget the name.

I use this OP, I found the Weleda Skin Food too greasy for day time (my makeup just slid off) but this works for me.

I also tried this which was too thick/greasy for me but might be worth a try? (I do use it as a night cream now and then)
