What’s happened to Vinted ?

Sizes all over the shop. Listings for 12-14 then when you search you see size 10,18, or weirdly an 8. Is it just full of folks running it like a business ? I miss the days when it was people like me who buy and forget to return stuff and you could get a bargain for genuine reasons and help the reduction of waste. I want a petite denim dress size 14 and spent half an hour wading through this nonsense. They’re either not petite or not 14 or not denim. Back to the charity shop I go.

It’s been getting worse and it has periodic blips. Vinted now only shows me 12s when I search 12-14, but I want 14s. It’s like none are listed ever! Despite never searching 16-18 on any item this morning my feed is littered with them. Very odd. Almost impossible to find what I’m looking for.

MabelAnderson · 18/07/2026 09:55

They changed their sizing system but lots of listings still have the old sizing system so it’s a mess. It’s much easier to search by a single size, but they have that annoying double size thing.

TheSquareMile · 18/07/2026 11:20

What kind of denim dress are you looking for, OP?

ShowOfHands · 18/07/2026 11:27

I want to tell it that there are things I'm not interested in. Suddenly, and for no apparent reason, it keeps recommending Apple products to me. I've never searched for them and have no interest in them at all. I want to tell it this. I swear they introduced the option to click on a "not interested" button a while ago but it's disappeared. It does the same when I search for a one off item e.g. ds needed a piece of equipment, I searched, bought it and done. But it's still recommending the same bloody thing. I have one. Move on!

ThirdStorm · 18/07/2026 11:29

@ShowOfHands me too! I thought it was odd!

Darragon · 18/07/2026 11:30

Ebay is much better. I find exactly what I am looking for.

Moreholidaysthanjudithchalmers · 18/07/2026 12:07

I hate the multiple size thing. Some sellers don’t say actual size so I squint at photos to see label but you can’t always see. I need a 14 not a 12 in dresses. Don’t show me 12s.

ThirdStorm · 18/07/2026 15:00

@Moreholidaysthanjudithchalmers im forever asking sellers for the label size. So annoying.

mimiasovitch · 18/07/2026 15:07

I’ve been looking at Rixo dresses today. I need a 16 or what Rixo label an XL. I’ve had to look everywhere from L to XXL to find some. I mean, if I was selling a Rixo dress labelled an L I would know it equates to a 14 so that’s where I’d list it. Surely people are missing out on sales by not considering that? Loads of brands fit differently to what the label might suggest. Commenting ‘would suit a size 12’ is not helpful if actual size 12 folk aren’t looking in that category. And that’s without the free for all the home page has become.

OneNaiceSnail · 18/07/2026 15:11

I can’t seem to get a reply??! I opened a case 3 weeks ago as I bought my little boy a child’s England kit (obvs don’t even need it now 🙄) and got sent a fake large men’s one. I can’t get a response from vinted. All I get when I go onto the help options is advice not to message them again as it pushes my case back to the start

SalmonOnFinnCrisp · 18/07/2026 15:13

Im.not sure why but they genuinely seem to be working hard to actively make the prod worse.
Between the sizing and the randomly.priced items which you suddenly realise are located in AMERICA... i dont want to transatlantically ship a 2nd hand age 5-6 mermaid swimsuit no matter how cute 🫠

Gingefringe · 18/07/2026 15:21

Try EBay. I’ve been buying and selling on there for 20 years and have had no issues in all that time. The app is great to use. I find Vinted a jumble sale and can’t be bothered with it.

feministAI · 18/07/2026 15:42

See Vinted was always super easy and it’s like a Pp said, that any changes seem to just make it worse which is so strange. It was great to find single sizes and selling was super easy. The opting out of certain couriers is a faff too. I’m after a petite 14 denim dress. Lightweight with no sleeves or capped sleeves and with a draw strong waist or some shape. A standard shift looks awful on me as I have big belly but not massive boobs. 32E so I do have boobs but not enough to offset the belly. Il see if I can find the white stuff one I liked that’s a smaller size

There’s a nice Wallis one like an oversized shirt and an m and snone which is £20. I just want some sort of shape - those next dresses that are everywhere ok Vinted in cotton often with prints do not suit me at all. I need to be cool (peri ) and would prefer plain fabric so thought denim, khaki, navy. I can’t be trusted in white !

They also randomly add postage options. I only ever select Evri because if I’m selling loads of items I don’t want to have to go to different places and our in post locker thing is dreadful. Sold 20 items the last few weeks, one of them randomly allowed in post and I had to cancel the sale (which was up someone is Australia 😱 how is the postage to oz worth it for a £2 primark dress?!)

TheSquareMile · 18/07/2026 16:43

Would this be suitable, OP?

What’s happened to Vinted ?
SilverScuff · 18/07/2026 16:52

I was reading another article about how difficult it has made it for professional sellers and now they are losing tens of thousands of pounds because Vinted’s automated system flags them as bots. My question was, why are people allowed to be professional sellers on Vinted . Why not keep it small just for private individual sellers and buyers. I feel like these businesses get bigger and it ruins everything.

Someone in the US bought a dress I was selling. It definitely wasn't more difficult to send, although it did take a little bit longer to get there. I was pleasantly surprised.

FriendlyNPC · 18/07/2026 17:28

I've been getting loads of American posts shown to me (I assume, I haven't bought but they use American sort of language and sometimes talk about dollars). My son bought something that was from America, didn't realise until it was on its way and then it was returned. He was quite disappointed.

I have reported a couple of items before now - WHY are you logging an item as a size Medium, 12/14 (as per the guidance) and then in the commentary saying it's an XS? Especially when the second photo has the label in it! I'm aware the sizing changed a few months ago but this one was literally uploaded the same day.

I'm also a bit fucked off that we bought a Playstation that has blatantly been stolen at the Evri depot as apparently that's where it still is - despite being sent nearly a month ago. The seller can't do anything until 4th August. We've never had an issue with Evri before.

mommaham · 18/07/2026 17:43

I find that if you look in the morning then it tends to be loaded from USA. Time difference I guess. I filter by specific brands.

if you find something you like on the app but it’s the wrong size - take a screenshot of it & then use the photo search function to find the same (or very similar) thing in your actual size.

I sometimes do this to find an item that I’ve seen that is my size but cheaper too! Screenshot it, photo search it & look at who else is selling it for less.

I agree, I always think Vinted is like a jumble sale. And the current sizing thing just means it’s even less usable.

ThirdStorm · 18/07/2026 18:22

I’ve avoided American sellers so far, I tend to look for very specific items and uk brand names.

They have done something with the postage options in the last few weeks. I can only get deliveries via Royal Mail which has always limited the things I can buy on Vinted. A lot of sellers prefer not to use Royal Mail for whatever reason. Now every listing seems to offer Royal Mail, which is good for me but not so good for the sellers I guess.

catteabook · 18/07/2026 18:29

I’ve only recently discovered the ‘search using a photo’ function but it worked really well.
i tried on a top I loved -sale item- in store but needed next size, none in stock. I took a photo so I could look it up on retailers website later, no luck.
happened to notice the photo search function in Vinted (is it new?) put photo in and hey presto, about 5-6 of the identical item came up.
