How much have you got in your Marks & Spencer Sparks account?

Friend of mine is a fellow Marks & Spencer fan can't get on with the scheme at all. I've made it more of an effort maybe, plus I've bought quite a lot of summer clothes so I've got £27!
I'm wondering if someone has bought something massive and has got loads of money in it?

Full disclosure, I buy more food there than I might do if I had a family living at home still, and do check it to see what offers are available.
But I wouldn't buy something that I didn't want, just because there was a Sparks offer

I don't understand this

So if you get £10 points for buying dinner sets and you’ve just bought a dinner set (within 30 days). Order the same set with the activated offer. Then return that set with the first set (no offer activated) receipt.

You get the money back, retain one set (the set you’ve already opened and used) but also retain the offer points. Because you didn’t return the item with the receipt for purchase that you got the points for…

The items are indistinguishable for M&S. They all have the exact same bar code. I thought it was the obvious solution.

I had £30 I was so pleased, bought quite a lot with it deducted from the total.
one item didn’t fit so I returned it and now they’ve deducted £8 from my refund - it was only £18.50 to start with! Not sure if I’ll see the remainder of the voucher again either! So not a fan.

You’ll get the money points back on your account.

JoJuniorShabadoo · 18/07/2026 21:22

Thank you, most of mine is food so I wouldn't get that! LOL

If you don’t want to pay for postage you can also order click and collect, open the box, and immediately return the item to the digital returns window with the old receipt. All done within a minute.

Thank you @JoJuniorShabadoo- I activated offers on my Sparks app as a direct result of your post (never bothered before) and then spotted a couple of things I really liked in M&S (for once!) and earned myself £6!!

I'm not sure they don't have those tracking barcodes now like Next has had for years so you have to return the exact same item

I went into a large M&S SimplyFood earlier this week. For the first time in years I was able to collect a “free item”.

M&S Pistachio Creme. It looked quite attractive in the picture. The label says, “Created in a family founded atelier, this velvety smooth spread is made with exceptional high quality ingredients” and “Expertly crafted by our artisan chocolatier”. So far so good.

~ The shelf sticker was red - £2 reduced from £4.25.
~ The jars were either BBE: 7/26 or BBE: 8/26. (7/26 is already halfway through)
~ Ingredients: Sugar, Vegetable Oils (Sunflower, Cocoa Butter), Ground Pistachio Nuts (20%), something derived from milk, something else derived from milk, a third thing from milk, and soya lecithin.

So, mainly sugar and oil, with only 20% of the headline ingredient.
I took it anyway: when I opened it there was a layer of oil on the top (no instruction to stir it in), it was too runny to be described as a spread, and tasted of nothing.

You get what you pay for.

2 pound Sparks reward I preferred the 20 per cent off offers I hope they bring them back.

blueskynoclouds · 23/07/2026 12:21

Before the changed the scheme you would have saved a lot more than you’ve earned via the ‘rewards’.

I have an offer for £5 reward if I spend £30. Ok. Well that’s less than 20% off and I will only ‘earn’ £5 no matter how much I spend.

Before I could spend £100 and save £20 with 20% off. Now I would spend £100 and only get £5 back with this ‘offer’.

SheilaFentiman · 23/07/2026 12:32

I’m quite pleased I never had the old scheme as I think I would be less happy with the current one if so!

JoJuniorShabadoo · 23/07/2026 13:30

This thread has made me take more notice and I now have £6 instead of the £1 I had earlier. 😊

Why are you angry about getting discounts on shopping ?

As a shareholder, surely you want M and S to trial different ways of maximising customer spend on a variety of products?

I'm not angry but just not interested in the new scheme at all. Give me 10 or 20% off upfront and I'll often buy but just not tempting to pay full price to 'bank' savings.

Haven't activated an offer since the change and even thinking about taking the app off my phone. Still swipe my card in store though so the charity donation gets made.
