How much have you got in your Marks & Spencer Sparks account?

Friend of mine is a fellow Marks & Spencer fan can't get on with the scheme at all. I've made it more of an effort maybe, plus I've bought quite a lot of summer clothes so I've got £27!
I'm wondering if someone has bought something massive and has got loads of money in it?

Full disclosure, I buy more food there than I might do if I had a family living at home still, and do check it to see what offers are available.
But I wouldn't buy something that I didn't want, just because there was a Sparks offer

£62! Never seen a gift box though 😆

WOW!

Zero.

gutted though as I was an avid Sparks user.

I loathe this new system

Nelliemellie · 18/07/2026 13:43

Every time I have scanned the sparks app it hasn’t registered, so I’ve given up. There’s no physical card, I don’t like faffing about with a phone whilst doing the shopping. I’ve noticed that there isn’t that much marks clothes in the shops, lots of brands, no basic m and s stuff. There used to be loads before.

SheilaFentiman · 18/07/2026 13:48

Someone showed me at the self checkout how to scan the phone card, you hold the phone at an angle not totally straight but I agree I would like a physical card option

dicentra365 · 17/07/2026 21:20

Same - I've got absolutely fuck all. I'm still buying things, but just not hitting any of the limits or the offers don't apply to anything I'm actually buying. I assume they have changed it because doing it like this is cheaper.

Somewhat because it is cheaper, but also because it gives them a lot more customer information. What is the offer type that tempts you? Beauty, clothing, homeware, food. And what sub category in that eg deli, dairy products etc.

Fleurchamp · 18/07/2026 13:53

I have had about £28 so far - just so happened that there were offers on things I was going to buy anyway.

however, I then spent some online on school uniform, but one item was cancelled because it was out of stock. They apportion the credit across all the items so I got something like £8.16 refunded back onto sparks. Which is fine but there is no ability to spend the odd 16p, it won't let you - even the store assistant was confused.

I am the sort of person who likes to have a round number in their bank account so this is just messing with my mind now 😂

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 18/07/2026 14:54

Call me an old cynic but just like the original Sparks system I find offers appear on my account soon after I have bought said item so it gets wasted.

aintnospringchicken · 18/07/2026 16:00

Zero
Zilch
Nada
All offers so far have been on items I don’t need.

sunflowersintheday · 18/07/2026 16:10

Sorry if this is a silly question, but can you not use the physical card anymore?

Eudaimonia11 · 18/07/2026 16:20

The app never loads when I’m in the store so I can never scan it. It’s not a problem with my phone because the Tesco Clubcard and Coop apps seem to work fine. The signal is always bad in the shop and gets worse when you go downstairs to the food section. Presumably other people manage to use it but I can’t be bothered faffing.

I have a physical card but I have had it years, I use it a lot and it still works, I didn't realise they didn't give you one now.

Right, I'm just wondering how to add what I have on the physical card to the digital one, iyswim. I'll ask in store tomorrow.

WorriedMutha · 18/07/2026 16:52

The Sparks app is an absolute crock. I tried to load my points up to spend and the verification number didn't arrive until ages later so had expired. I tried dozens of times. Five calls to M&S in which operators said variously that it must be poor signal on my phone, I was over pressing resend codes so texts in wrong order or they would escalate the error to IT and finally someone said there had been many similar complaints and they were working on a fix.
I have at last loaded my £8 so will buy a 3 for £8 deli offer, delete the app and that will be the last shop I ever do in M&S (not just Sparks but shit treatment in a store).

Oh here

You’re just showing off here ;-)
I spend a fortune on food there. Just £13 and no gift box for me.

Love my delivery pass though, glad they gave me a year extra.

I can’t stand any loyalty scheme where I have to ‘activate’ the offer. Just put all offers on my card so I benefit if I buy the thing.

Agree.

And I am not looking at offers and then spending money just to reach the criteria. Because that’s what they want me to do. ;-)

Yes they do give you a new one if you ask. I got one a couple of months ago as mine was tatty, I just went on facebook and messaged their customer services and they sent it in the post a few days later.

They told my Mum in store yesterday they were moving to digital cards only.

They told my Mum in store yesterday they were moving to digital cards only.

I was told the same but just went ahead and asked, I don't use a mobile phone and have continued to use the actual card. (I told customer services this) I also have a M&S credit card and they are always asking for my mobile number and I have told them once I don't have one and ignore them now when they ask for it.

RedRiverShore6 · 18/07/2026 20:03

I just googled about the demise of the Sparks physical card and there are a lot of unhappy mainly older people, that don't use smartphones, just laptops and iPads.

luckylavender · 18/07/2026 20:10

£10

JoJuniorShabadoo · 18/07/2026 20:58

Yes, I wanted to buy another delivery pass and I rang them up and they said they decided to discontinue it and I thought I will sod that - I won't buy much anymore. Then suddenly it popped up. Free.
which is great because I don't work near a Marks & Spencer so to collect stuff I'd have to pay for Parking

Take a screenshot of the barcode. Still works.

I buy the item again with the offer then return the new item under the receipt for the old one. Have made £10 a few times that way. Just have to be willing.

I had £30 I was so pleased, bought quite a lot with it deducted from the total.
one item didn’t fit so I returned it and now they’ve deducted £8 from my refund - it was only £18.50 to start with! Not sure if I’ll see the remainder of the voucher again either! So not a fan.
