Would you wear flashy watch?

I’ve recently been lucky enough to receive a beautiful Rolex watch as a gift. It’s a stainless steel and Everose gold model with a diamond-set bezel. I’d really love to wear it every day, but I feel if it might be a bit too flashy.

Part of me thinks that, realistically, most people wouldn’t even notice it, and those who do might assume it’s a replica anyway. On the other hand, whenever I wear it, it seems to catch the sunlight and sparkle so much that I feel as though it might attract attention.

Would you notice someone wearing a watch like this, and if you did, would you make any assumptions or judgments based on what watch other person wear?

Wear it and enjoy it, make sure it’s valued and on your insurance.

There will be times to leave it at home eg travel.

Id be nervous to wear it in a city centre or on public transport

Maybe it’s the crowd I run in, but I would assume it’s fake 😁.

Get it insured and wear it.

I would be careful where I wore it because Rolex watches are.a target for muggers. I don't mind blingy watches aesthetically but I get £20 ones from TK Maxx!

I would say there was a time where you didn't have to worry about this kind of thing but I've never had anything as expensive as a Rolex

I recently had the battery changed in My £50 watch and the jeweller told me to be careful because apparently it looks like something that's very common to steal. And I'm glad she said it to me because there's no way I would've known. And from a distance, coming out of the station - I suppose the easy thing would be to somebody to just guess and then they would mug me - and I'm probably considered an easy target

If you're driving everywhere and live in a nice area then it's completely different. I actually do live in a relatively nice area (nicer than the one I was in before, but not like MN nice areas) but unfortunately there's always people hanging around the station.

I saw a programme today where a young man put a photo of his two Rolex watches on his wrist on social media and he was targeted by scummy criminals and murdered for them. Be very careful. The watches were fake.

Wear it and enjoy it. If you leave it in its box the workings will seize over time. Make sure it is insured. Those who know watches will recognise it and appreciate it for what it is those who don’t won’t notice. The glistening you are referring to is because you aren’t used to it ( a bit like when you wear an engagement ring for the first few weeks) but no one else will really notice.

I have a Rolex and wear it every day I live in a huge city and have never had even a sideways glance at it. Defo wear it!

I work and live in London and I wear my Rolex everyday.

I don’t live in London and wear my Rolex every day. The only time it ever gets any attention is from people that are into watches (collectors and the like). I’m sure that 99% of people don’t even notice (I couldn’t tell you what any of my best friends wear on their wrists). Enjoy wearing it!!

Thanks, I live in the South East, in what most people would consider a nice area. I rarely use public transport and, as a mum, I mostly spend my time at playgrounds, school drop offs/ pick ups, children’s classes, shops and cafes, etc.
I’m actually less concerned about being robbed than about how it might be perceived by other mums. My main worry is that wearing something that looks so expensive could make me come across as a show off

I have a reasonably expensive watch (not a Rolex) and wear it every day in London. "What other mums think" doesn't enter my head for even a millisecond when I put it on - nor do I care what anyone else thinks of it or of me wearing it, for that matter. If you love the watch, wear it (but make sure it's declared on your insurance and covered outside of the home).

I'd notice it the same way I can clock designer bags, shoes etc but honestly I reckon 95% of people wouldn't know if it was a Rolex or 20quid from TK Maxx. Wear and enjoy.

Just wear it. I don't really notice what people are wearing on their wrists, or hands for that matter.

I have a Rolex. I don’t wear it often but only because I’m not really a watch person.

My next door neighbour has a seriously blingy Rolex and she seems to wear it daily.

My friend has this watch. It is beautiful. She wears it every day.

Life is short. Wear your beautiful watch and enjoy it, in fact break put the best dishes, light that fancy candle and open that special bottle of wine.

Personally I would wear it and make sure it’s covered in the house insurance. My sister and her friends wear fake rolex watches, so I do think people may assume it’s a fake? But that doesn’t matter, wear it and enjoy it!

I have a nice watch ( not Rolex nice but still expensive ) and I wear it regularly but not everyday. I alternate with a sports watch so I’d choose one or the other depending on what I was doing. Going into town I’d wear my nice one but not to the playground. ( in your example ). I certainly don’t travel with my nice one and I don’t wear it anywhere that I’m leaving it in a locker.

I have a Cartier that I wear regularly. I love it. If I didn’t wear it what would be the point in having it? Enjoy it and don’t worry what anyone thinks, I doubt they’ll even notice it.

I wouldn't notice whether a watch was Rolex or anything else, so I wouldn't really think anything. I don't generally like the style of metal watches, especially with casual clothing, but that's just personal choice and wouldn't make me judge you in any way.

That would have a baring on how often I wore it.
