Shoe ideas for a purple maxi dress at a summer christening

It's for a christening in the summer and I don't want really high heels for comfort reasons (unless they're unbelievably stunning, in which case I'll push through). I'm 5'5". I'm important in the service so it can be something dramatic.

Sorry, budget is probably helpful - as cheap as possible and definitely under £75 (unless they're STUNNING). But also just colour or style ideas and I'll go and do my own looking are really helpful.

Just a hopeful bump if anyone has any thoughts? I'm so bad at shoes 😭

Dress is beautiful. Do you already own it?

I wear ballet flats with most things and would pick something which picks up one of the colours from the dress. This is my go to - over budget but you will be able to find cheaper alternatives.

Those are BEAUTIFUL ballet flats 😍 I thiiiiiink I want a bit of a heel just because I so rarely get a chance to Dress and it feels like the dress needs it, but those might persuade me I'm wrong possibly. I also was leaning open toe/sandal for August I think?

IMO I think black is probably best as the purple tones would be difficult to match. And I think footwear with a bit of substance (not thin strappy sandals like the one the model is wearing) would be best - as the dress is full & structured, & something delicate/spindly of heel would look odd & imbalanced.

I'm also not sure that your footwear NEEDS to be stunning, in terms of being eye-catching/standing out - as the dress does that? And you don't want to detract from it?

Op if you’re on vinted there are fabulous Phase Eight purple options in various shades and at fabulous prices. Many just worn once as part of a wedding outfit.

What a stunning dress! I’d go for gold or silver as a colour. With a block heel for a bit of height.

I'd go with bright metallic chunky heeled slingbacks, or textured seagrass wedge espadrilles in beige or bright orange - red - yellow.

Fabulous dress. What are your other accessories like? You have to decide what you want to be the star of the show, if it's the dress you'll want neutral accessories, black or neutral or gold/silver. If you want to amp things up further then orange or electric blue or violet might work (depends on the exact colours in the dress).

Will reply to others later, thank you so much!, but @Doggymummar I clocked that as well - what's reassured me is that they have an active Instagram page, including pictures of ordinary looking people wearing the clothes in the wild. Absolutely could still be a scam but it moved the needle enough for me to buy (on a credit card). Fingers crossed!

And forget purple, let the attention rest on the dress and contrast with the shoes.

personally I’d let the dress do the talking and go for nude flats, in whatever style you like even sandals, sling backs, ballet etc. but gold or silver would also work.

Id say nude heels or sandal with purple.

I like it with the peach heels they have styled it with in the website photo. The colours work well together and it gives the look a lighter, summery feel
