What the frigging hell can/should I do about this around my mouth?

I particularly mean the downturned corners (which look darker) and like I’m permanently sad or pissed off.

Do those lines get filled and fix it? Is it Botox instead?

42 - never had any injections at all

help a gal out please - be as brutal as you like

I honestly cannot see anything wrong with your mouth

Overtheatlantic · 07/07/2026 20:13

I don’t see the downturn but you should probably have a consultation with a Botox practitioner and get a recommendation. You have great lips!

Bitzee · 07/07/2026 20:17

Your mouth looks fine? You can botox it if you want but it’s quite a high risk area so get a local recommendation for a proper doctor.

Justaquestionplease · 07/07/2026 20:18

I had a little bit of filler put into mine...game changer

KittytheHare · 07/07/2026 20:19

Maybe filler for the marionette lines would help? Go for a consultation with someone reputable and ask their advice.

YellowDogg · 07/07/2026 20:29

I would put concealer on when I was dressing up if it really bothered me, but otherwise I’d do 100% nothing.

troppibambini6 · 07/07/2026 20:36

A bit of filler will work wonders

Justbreathagain · 07/07/2026 20:39

Literally nothing wrong with your mouth

LasVegass · 07/07/2026 20:45

Looks fine to me. Your mouth will be fine and natural when you talk and smile.

Mrspatmoresapprentice · 07/07/2026 20:52

I think the darker areas are pigment? Have you tried retinol and tret?

TeaBiscuitsNaptime · 08/07/2026 11:14

Looks like a very normal mouth to me. Maybe a face exfoliation, the right foundation to help get the colour even and maybe a lip pencil and lipstick if you want your lips more defined. Otherwise, you're just like the rest of us mere mortal folk

TheMillionthBeautyAddict · 08/07/2026 11:19

Is it the shadow under the corners of your lips? I have it too from a slight overbite. IRL people really do think I look pissed off when I’m not and comment on it. 🙄 I think chin filler or a chin implant would sort it but I’m not brave enough for an implant and I spend so much time abroad that I wouldn’t be able to keep on top of filler.

FionasFarmyard · 08/07/2026 11:22

I know not what you want to hear but I think you look amazing just from that small shot!!!

Idontjetwashthefucker · 08/07/2026 11:24

I also had filler in my marionette lines last year, posted on here about it if you search, made a big difference

DoubleShotEspressox · 08/07/2026 11:26

You have great natural shape to your lips. I wouldn’t touch those, but if the downturn bothers you (I think you look great personally) then you want filler in the marionette lines. It’ll lift the entire bottom half of your face.

Pistachiocake · 08/07/2026 12:01

YellowDogg · 07/07/2026 20:29

Exactly, you look great and anyone trying to criticise you can do one! It's so annoying when people try to belittle women or act like their looks are what matters-remember the nasty comments about Kelly Mc Gillis.

AnonyMumAuDHD · 08/07/2026 12:16

You look lovely as you are but know how you feel as my DH kept asking if I was ‘okay?’ as I was developing resting bitch face. I had some filler in my marionettes that really lifted those corners. You can also have ‘skin boosters’ in the area around the lip which are kind of a half way between fillers and collagen booster.

I am late 50s and lost a lot of weight recently, so eventually also opted for a little cheek filler as this also lifts the skin next to the mouth.

I’d go to the consultation, but take your time deciding. And starting with a little bit and building up is probably best (it’s what I did, not least so that the changes over a year were subtle enough that none of my nearest and dearest noticed other than to say that I looked really well - DH is anti tweakments). Has really boosted my self-confidence.

Additup · 08/07/2026 15:47

OP, your mouth looks perfectly normal and doesn't need anything injecting into or around it imo.
Remember, when you're talking, laughing eating etc your whole face will be dynamic and look completely different to a still, unnatural photo (unless you get stuff injected into it then it won't be naturally dynamic and you'll look a bit weird 😂).

JustPassingTime · 08/07/2026 15:49

If you're talking about the marionette lines on the side, filler is normally used but ethical practitioners are edging away from this because it gives an unnatural look which is not flattering regardless of age.

Regardless, you look great, IMO. No need to try to find imperfections which don't exist!

Floisme · 08/07/2026 15:53

I cannot see any problem but then I hate, hate, hate this idea that women should look happy and smiley all the time.

Apileofballyhoo · 08/07/2026 15:57

A device like a Foreo Bear might help lift things a bit if you're unhappy. Topical vitamin C and tretinoin or retinol to smooth and decrease lines. Daily spf50.

Girlwithavibe · 08/07/2026 15:59

You have a lovely mouth just keep smiling 😁!!!!!

Guess it depends on the practioner, I was very, very pleased with it

There is absolutely nothing wrong with your mouth.
In fact it looks a damn sight better than mouths that have filler or Botox or whatever.
Absolutely crazy what some women feel pressurised into doing to themselves.

You look great! I would not be surprised if fillers are illegal shortly but, use them while you can, if you are happy!
