Which dress for the evening do of a wedding?

I posted in AIBU, panicked, and now I have two choices

Dress one:

Dress two:

https://www.asos.com/prd/210378452?acquisitionsource=pasteboard

Planned accessories are the blue bag and shoes linked.

Which one do I go for?! It’s a distant relative’s evening do at a mid-July wedding. We’re due for a heatwave so I don’t want to be massively covered.

I will wear my hair down in loose curls

I agree dress one is very casual. However I dislike dress two. Due to the way dress two hangs, I can’t think of any body shape it would flatter. If it’s a choice between these two then I’d go for dress one and style it with accessories.

Dress 2, love it!

I think this might be the most mumsnet saying ever! I think everyone is fine with it, really

I sweat like a bastard in most man made fibres and get really itchy in wool. Its not that unusual!

Dress is a bit casual but nice- dress 2 is awful and looks cheap. I do love your shoes and bag tho and they'll dress up the yellow dress

No brainier for me - I'd get the yellow one. Firstly it's cotton, not polyester which I definitely do care about, especially in hot weather. Secondly I'd be much more likely to wear it again as it's a good style for a normal day too. Thirdly it's cheaper.

It wouldn't have stood out as too casual at most of the weddings I've been to.

Dress 1! The bow on the back is gorgeous. 😍 And it’ll look a lot more dressy with the shoes and bag you’re planning.

I personally really don’t like dress 2, but that aside the fabric looks quite cheap and I bet you’ll get really hot in it!

1 is quite casual but with the right accessories could look lovely. I often think ' less is more ' and that could look smart.
The only thing 2 has going for it are the nice colours. It just has a cheap look about it really.

Quite liked the brown catalina dress so ordered it- warning it seems cut large
