Recommendations for beach flip flops that do not rub

pogglewump · 26/06/2026 07:47

As the title says really. I am after nude or bronze flip flops that don't rub the top of my foot or between my toes. I don't need arch support or anything extra, just a plain pair of beach flip flops. I have tries Havaiana's and Ipanemas so far and both gave me blisters.

Can anyone recommend? I've considered Archies so far

Thank you :-)

Archie’s are the best, very comfortable & easy to walk in & no rub as they mould to your feet.

Gettingbysomehow · 26/06/2026 08:13

Archies for sure.

I buy Surf on Amazon. They are unbelievably comfortable. I can walk all day in them. Only £12.99 but not in nude or bronze. Much beachier colours (fuscia, turquoise, white)

Archie’s, the straps are moulded so no rubbing

I live in flip flops (NZ.. so a Jandal) and definately Archie’s. Much softer rubber than Havs which are now poorly mass produced, don’t mould very well. Mine have existed for 4 years with almost daily wear including on beaches, in the sea, kayaking, paddle boarding, long distance pavement and bush walks, hills, sat in searing sun and they are pristine and soft and comfortable and moulded to my feet
Also there’s a few months of the year where the weather here isn’t suitable for long distance flip flop wearing and as soon as I put a pair on after a break have to get my feet used to them again but only for a day or so.
I can also recommend a a bit of body powder on your feet where the straps are for the first few wears. Stops the rubbing of sweaty skin against a non broken in flop.

Are these Archies true to size or should you get a size up?

I bought a size up when I got Havaiana's

Bjorkdidit · 26/06/2026 08:27

Saddened to hear that Havaianas aren't what they were. We haven't bought any for a few years because we stocked up when they had a good offer, can't remember how long ago, but might have to look at something else when we need to replace.

Animal! The ones with the foam toe post. For example ‘swish’. I have never been able to wear flip-flops until I found these.

tukatuka · 26/06/2026 08:38

I think it’s my toes that are the issue but I’ve never found any flip flops particularly comfortable. Havianas are the best of a bad bunch. These days I wear sliders which are so much more comfy. I wear my kid’s Adidas ones and have never had any issue with rubbing or blisters.

Cuppachuchu · 26/06/2026 08:40

I wear the Animal ones and have for years. Very comfortable.

Yes true to size, they may feel tight in first wear but the strap stretches/ moulds to fit.
i do like reef flip flops as well

I really recommend the FitFlop Iqushion. They are so comfortable to walk in!

Starhaf · 26/06/2026 17:53

Archies! Yes, they are true to size

Gettingbysomehow · 26/06/2026 17:55

I love Gumbies. Such lovely colours and recycled. Very comfortable. Im getting another pair.

Blessedbethefruitloopss · 26/06/2026 18:06

Fitflop.

Cetera · 26/06/2026 18:13

I didn’t really rate my Archie’s for the price. Never got the hype with Havaianas back in the day, but Archie’s are better.

My current favourites are Reef Cushion Harmony and Reef Santa Ana. Very comfortable. Loved Animal Swish for years but those Reef’s are even better.

Cetera · 26/06/2026 18:17

Just to add, all new shoes rub my bony feet. Even the Archie’s did at the start. All good with the Reef pairs. The harmony cushion pair had their first outing being worn to walk 5 hours around Barcelona, no rubs.

Sodabubbles · 26/06/2026 18:21

Totes or adidas are good ( the foamy style ones)

Blueroses99 · 26/06/2026 18:36

I have Crocs Swiftwater sandals- they look like flip flops but don’t have any toe loops and are super comfortable (currently on sale on Amazon prime!)

ThatPearlSnail · 27/06/2026 10:30

Totes solbounce. I've just bought another 2 pairs as they're so comfy and I'm scared they'll be discontinued.

ivegotthisyeah · 27/06/2026 10:40

Bought some totes for holiday from next I think absolute god send so comfortable they are the squishy ones mentioned above

pogglewump · 03/07/2026 15:39

Hi everyone, I thought I would report back in case it helps anyone.

I bought the Archies in my usual size and a size bigger to try. I have kept the bigger size and they were still tight but I followed the advice on the little card that came with them which said to stretch them by hand.

I did this and they are very comfortable and do not rub. So I say size up if you have wide feet and high insteps like me. Also, remember you can stretch them.

I am so pleased to have flip flops and no blisters that I am going to order other colours.

that’s great news - I wear my Archies daily. I love them so much that I now now have 3 pairs in different colours
