I would like one but don't feel they are elegant?

Would welcome thoughts

I'd say no. Mine is very functional, but the tan line is hideous and the watch itself isn't great. But it does what I need it to. I think by virtue of their size (so you can see text etc) they can't also be elegant.

SwatTheTwit · 07/06/2026 19:30

I personally don’t like them but maybe some people would be able to pull it off? It would depend on your overall style.

oberuber · 07/06/2026 19:31

No.

DramaAlpaca · 07/06/2026 19:32

I don't think they are ever elegant, but that's not their purpose; they're supposed to be functional.

TheChosenTwo · 07/06/2026 19:33

Absolutely not. I have one but it couldn’t be described as elegant. I know I can change the straps on it but it has a massive square face so would look silly with something more delicate and decorative. All academic really, I have it for functionality not for decorative purposes so for me it’s absolutely fine.

GelatinousDynamo · 07/06/2026 19:35

There are some nice looking ones - but only for Android. If you need Apple, then I'm afraid you're stuck with an ugly piece of tech on your wrist.

Crafta · 07/06/2026 19:40

No but then no watch looks elegant on me

Blueyellowhalfmoon · 07/06/2026 19:45

I've got a nice garmin

Freda69 · 08/06/2026 14:07

No, hideously ugly and the majority of them have horrible plastic straps.

Greenteaandbiscuits · 08/06/2026 14:27

I went for a smart ring instead so I can still wear my lovely watch! They don't have quite the same functionality though so it depends on what you want it for...

Xiaoxiong · 08/06/2026 14:30

I love my apple watch, but I accept it's large and blocky. I have replaced the strap with a metal link one (this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0GHMGT3SZ?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1)

Amusingly the description for that says "elegant"!! I will let others be the judge...

I have a hybrid. It’s a fossil watch and looks like a normal watch but records everything in the background onto an app

EspanaPorfavor · 08/06/2026 14:40

I love my Apple Watch. I have my own photo of a beautiful place as its background and changed to a thin leather strap. It isn’t as elegant as a piece of jewelry but I don’t think it’s that bad.

I agree with this. It's the main reason I've never had one! You're wearing a piece of tech on your wrist so if tracking your steps or your heart rate or whatever is something you need then it's functional. But they definitely aren't elegant.

friskybivalves · 08/06/2026 15:12

I think the Hermes Apple Watch is as good as they get.

hallenbad · 08/06/2026 15:13

Of course not. But perfectly smart and practical

Two2TooAlsoToToward · 08/06/2026 15:28

Have you looked at Garmin? I think it’s called the Lotus or Lily.

clearlyy · 08/06/2026 15:37

No. If I’m going out-out I don’t wear mine. It’s big and blocky and looks really silly when you’re in a nice dress, I think.

BotterMon · 08/06/2026 15:39

Fugly things.

Firesidechatter · 08/06/2026 16:05

No, they are not elegant or intended to be. They are tech on your wrist and designed to look like such.

ElegantDresses · 08/06/2026 16:13

No, they are not elegant, I always said I'd wear my old elegant watch for going out when I got my apple watch, but the fact is I like being able to still get notified if I get a call when I'm out for the evening (young adult DCs / elderly parents) so I do still wear the apple watch and accept that it's not very flattering. I do have the smaller size and silver colour to match my other jewellery.

SpudGunToo · 08/06/2026 16:30

No.

Some I think look OK, but they are all quite functional.

DH has a Garmin Fenix which he’ll wear at the gym or when out running but switches to a nice-looking traditional watch at other times with a Fitbit band on the other wrist for the tracking things.

Pinknotpurple · 08/06/2026 16:36

I like my garmin lily, looks pretty nice to me
