Im stil;l thinking about that Totem dress. I was a good size 18 /XL but Im on Mounjaro and am doing a nice slow steady loss, with a good way to go yet.

I wore a size 18 3 weeks ago and it fitted me nicely (Id been worried as some had been a bit squeezy before I started) Ive dropped another 2kg since then.

People say they are sizing down as well so they seem quite roomy.

so do I want it for now or do I want it for long term, and how much flexibility is in a loose dress too?

I see people saying its the same as the Fig dress - just a different print - does anyone have this and can tell me, for example, a size 14 fitted a range of 12-16 for example?

ToastSafeFromMothsAndDogs · 09/07/2026 22:16

@NettleTea I’d say wait! Or size right down. I went from 18 to 12 in six months on Mounjaro and a year after reaching target I often need 10.

It’s expensive having to replace your entire wardrobe, but a lot more fun dressing now. The fb secondhand page is very good.

see Im thinking to get the 12, with the hope that it would fit 10-14 range...

I dont mind baggy too much, but I dont go for the 'like a straitjacket across the boobs' look.

Traditionally I was always a size 8 or10, until about 2 years after my daughter was born when I developed primary lymphodema and ballooned. then when I had my son I developed permanent swelling and ballooned again, plus also sleep apnoea which wasnt diagnosed for 18 years and caused spiky cortisol so I got the lovely huge round the belly thing, and an impossibility to lose weight whatever I tried. Mounjaro has addressed the inflammation and Im being treated for the apnoea, and so far Ive lost just under 2 stone on the minimum dosage in 2 1/2 months (its being trialled for lymphodema at the moment).

ToastCosILoveIt · 09/07/2026 22:45

@NettleTeai have the fig dress in a 10 for my size 12 figure and it is plenty big enough. The Toast website recommends a 10 for me in the fig but a 12 for me in the totem. I haven’t seen the totem in store to try it on and comment. It does look lovely. The belt on the fig does allow you to pull it in, and the totem would to the same.

Whowhatwerewolf · 10/07/2026 09:00

I've just noticed there are two totem print dresses. The Selma Totem Print Cotton Shirt Dress is brown and cream with long sleeves and the Large Totem Print Poplin Dress which is black and white and sleeveless. Unfortunately neither are in the sale and I love them both.

Thanks for the advice about sending my return items back separately. They're now all packaged up and ready to go in what DH has just referred to as "parcel mountain."

Can anyone else not stand the hot weather? Call me a weirdo, but even in Scotland it is too hot for me (25 yesterday). I don’t know what to wear, I feel constantly uncomfortable, and I long to be able to wear layers and a scarf again. I don’t know how those of you further south are coping.
I can’t make any proper decisions on sale items which are for cooler weather. I thought I would sleep on the indigo jacket and the decision would be clear this morning, but even that feels like something I wouldn’t want near my body at the moment.

I'm with you wrt the hot weather. My max for feeling comfortable is 22C - that's why I actually love going to the UK on my summer vacation. Happily that isn't happening this year with the heatwave and all. And here in Denmark we have had temperatures up to 36C so far, though quite a bit cooler this week and last.
Hmm, I remember the summer where we came to Orkney which then had a heatwave with above 25C...

I’m planning a trip to Copenhagen later this year @BettinaInDenmark and thinking I might wait until October because when I was there mid Sept a couple of years ago it was still too warm for me! I was there last year in July and spent a lot of time searching for shade. I can’t imagine it getting up to 36 degrees!

Just say if you need recommendations for anything in Copenhagen. Been living there all my life except a 1,5 year stint a bit further up Zealand.

It is way too hot, I agree. But at the same time it's a chance to wear the extremely thin and floaty stuff that I stupidly bought for my dream life instead of my actual life, and which has rarely ever come out of the wardrobe before! I have too many summer clothes for the length of a normal UK summer IYSWIM.

I've ordered a coat and the thought of trying it on this temperature is very unpleasant!

Kate Sheridan has a sale with some good reductions:

https://katesheridan.com/collections/sale

Thank you for this. Some lovely small bags there at good prices.

I'm sure I've seen KS on Plumo in the past, could that be right? One of the (several) things that annoys me about Plumo is that they don't tell you what the brand is. I suppose they're worried about people doing price comparisons.

MsDastardley · 10/07/2026 11:53

I’ve just received the Aila Ikat dress and I am disappointed 😥. The colour isn’t as I expected. It’s described as indigo but very dark, could easily be mistaken for black. I thought the design was white but it’s not, it’s a pale duck egg. I’ve just checked photos on website and some do look slightly blue, but I think most seem white. The fabric is much lighter weight than the cotton/linen version. I don’t think the colour combination works for me.

Might try it again later, but for the price I think I need to love it on first try!

Was going to do another order today but not feeling it at moment. It’s boiling here and I can’t think about trainers and jeans

100% agree. I long for the days of 0 degrees, big coats and hats. I love it when it rains!

Doritochaser · 10/07/2026 11:59

I just received the blue tea towel stripe dress this morning and it’s beautiful! I never thought much of it online but I saw this photo on toast’s insta story and ordered. Really lovely vintage style and perfect for a wedding I have coming up.

I do sometimes feel toast clothing is always better seeing it IRL, probably lucky for my back account there isn’t a toast in Northumberland 😬

I have had the opportunity to wear my navy seersucker floaty dress today. It feels so airy and cool. I thought I’d better take the chance whilst I could. Really pleased with this dress that I overlooked before. I could live in this if we had more hot weather.

ScottishMouse · 10/07/2026 12:50

Thanks @BettinaInDenmark. Very jealous, Copenhagen is my absolute favourite place in the world! I have been 5 or 6 times so know it quite well now. I dream of retiring there, but I might need a lottery win first 🤣

ScottishMouse · 10/07/2026 12:51

Oh that is disappointing @MsDastardley! I am waiting for the skirt in the Ikat fabric, expecting it tomorrow. I wouldn’t mind the navy being very dark, but do not love the sound of the light blue at all. Would you mind posting a photo of the fabric to give us a better idea?

CakeAndJazz · 10/07/2026 12:52

@ScottishMouse I can’t stand the heat, always surprising as I come from a country that experiences warm weather all year round (and sometimes very hot). @BettinaInDenmark I’d love some Copenhagen recommendations please - I’ll be there next week (my first visit) and I’ve not had time to research any good spots. Was hoping for a break from this weather too, but now I’m not so sure…

ScottishMouse · 10/07/2026 12:56

I’m glad to find some like-minded heat haters here, everyone has talk to irl seems to think I am nuts.
@CakeAndJazz obviously @BettinaInDenmark is the expert but I have lots of CPH rec’s too depending on what you are looking for.

Oh, and I have always loved the thought of living in Scotland... Guess the old adage about the grass being greener on the other side is still true, lol

ScottishMouse · 10/07/2026 12:58

It really is @BettinaInDenmark If I could spend half my time in Copenhagen and half in Edinburgh, that would be the perfect combo for me. I’m actually from Dublin, but came to Edinburgh 25 years ago and never left.

Well, it will get warmer next week than it is now, but only around the mid 20'ies, I believe.
I will be happy to give you recommendations - what kind of things do you like to do when on vacation?

OftenOrange · 10/07/2026 13:23

@Doritochaser Seeing that photo is making me second guess my decision to return it . The larger of the two sizes I got looks a bit like that though not quite as long sadly .
@ScallopShellWalk I looked to order the seersucker dress but all gone ! It sounds delightful for this sticky weather
@ScottishMouse Here in inner London the heat and humidity is unbearable and furthermore the biting bugs here leave a big itchy lump for 2 weeks!
In S France it’s almost 40 C but the heat isn’t sticky and the house is always cool. Plus biting mosquitos do bites that last for a hour then disappear .

OftenOrange · 10/07/2026 13:29

Penultimate order just arrived :
The good : Trippen zig zag sandals are fabulous , wouldn’t have looked twice out of sale but a real hit and so unusual they lift an outfit. ( sized down)
Patchwork gilet a keeper, nice and arty for cooler months with jeans and white blouse ( sized up for a generous fit I can close )

Nagusa espadrilles nice , beautifully made , neat etc but not very exciting so a return.

Crinkle red top going back , doesn’t fill me with joy.
