@faustina My most recent parcel spent several days in Swansea, then had a trip to Birmingham. But it arrived here very suddenly yesterday with no delivery notice from RM.

faustina · 03/07/2026 20:56

Oh that is very encouraging @Theteapotsbrokenspout - thank you and fingers crossed!

@triggers34 I think those culottes have been mentioned recently and not in a good way

Whowhatwerewolf · 03/07/2026 21:50

Thanks @Saurus72 that's really helpful. I'm going to steal your rules if thumb for sizing until I get a better feel for what will fit me. I also should probably get serious and measure myself and my existing clothes properly so I can compare with the information on their website. Returns have gone ok so far and it's great to know I won't be banned as a serial returner but all the same they're not particularly convenient so if like to minimise them.

Best of luck @ScallopShellWalk with getting your refund for the jacket. And to you @faustina in getting your parcels that have gone walkabout.

IlovePond · 04/07/2026 09:06

Kilver Court are holding an archive sale 17-19th July.

Unfortunately I don’t think I will be able to go, (unless I do a ridiculous three hour each way day trip on the Saturday as I did once before 😹)

I am ridiculously disappointed that it’s the one weekend - all summer - that I can’t make it!

@Countmeout thats a shame the light coloured dress isn’t the right one for you. The material is very lovely. I saw the shirt and it totally caught my eye.
I also quite liked the look of the dark green linen dress when in the shop the other day. It was long though, but most are. I didn’t try it.
Today the navy seersucker one arrives to me, it may even have been the one you sent back.

triggers34 · 04/07/2026 09:44

@faustinaoh really I’ve scrolled up couldn’t see anything . Thank-you I’ll maybe wait till I’m back in Edinburgh and try them on there .

ScallopShellWalk · 04/07/2026 09:44

@IlovePond that's a shame, unless of course you do the 3 hour round trip. It’s only 1 1/2 each way. 😁

ScottishMouse · 04/07/2026 09:49

Home to the Scottish rain and grey skies (which I have to admit to quite liking, call me a weirdo). I’m going to put my indigo jacket on in the house for a bit this morning and see how it fares over an old white tee and how I feel about risking both the indigo rub and the delicate nature of the fabric. I’ll report back later for anyone also swithering.

IlovePond · 04/07/2026 09:54

@ScallopShellWalk - sadly it’s three hours there and three hours back, (and yes, I did do that once 🙈).

I have stuff booked on Friday that can’t be changed, (and I never usually have ANYTHING exciting going on - never mind two things in one day!) And there’s unpleasant and serious stuff happening on Monday so it’s not like I can turn going on Saturday into a few days away!

It depends on the weather as well- DDog has massive separation anxiety and has to come everywhere with us, (and I do mean that quite literally). If it’s too hot he wouldn’t be able to travel, so I couldn’t either. (He is lovely, but at times, he does feel like a large, furry, extremely eccentric albatross…)

Whowhatwerewolf · 04/07/2026 09:56

That's so disappointing about the archive sale but a three hour drive does seem a bit excessive. Imagine getting there and there's nothing you want 😪? Plus the price of petrol would probably eat up any savings.

My ecru kantha waistcoat has arrived and I adore it. It's completely impractical given it's dry clean only but light coloured cotton. Also in an ideal world I'd go a size smaller but here in the real world that size is out of stock. But I love it anyway. It will go beautifully with so many things including my denim dress and also I think it looks lovely with my crinkle top.

Toasties looking forward to sun, summer and sales ☀️
IlovePond · 04/07/2026 10:02

That’s pretty @Whowhatwerewolf

Yes- I did it for a sample sale once and it was worth it as it was a great sale with loads of bargains and I had fun.

I think it took 2.5 hours to get there, (a record for us), and 2.45 hours back, I wanted to stay overnight but DH refused.

I haven’t experienced an ‘archive sale’ before, (unless you count the fantastic Ukraine pop up), so it’s hard to know if it would be worth it. I would be seriously miffed if stuff was a) not to my liking, b) in short supply and c) still really expensive!

I need someone to go on the Friday and report back!

>I need someone to go on the Friday and report back!

Even better would be someone on video call with you and authorised to purchase on your behalf - like rich people have at auctions

IlovePond · 04/07/2026 11:36

Absolutely @Whowhatwerewolf 😹

ScallopShellWalk · 04/07/2026 12:31

@Whowhatwerewolf 🤣

My seersucker dress arrived and I really like it. @Countmeout I’m not sure it fits as well perhaps as yours did. But it’s big and floaty and my feet can still move around. Looks lovely.
I’ll keep it for when the occasion arrives. Maybe the sun is coming here on Thursday. 🤔

Well that cheered me up. 😊

Bimblesalong · 04/07/2026 12:32

Yay glad to hear that @ScallopShellWalk mine is on its way to me.

Countmeout · 04/07/2026 13:32

I’m glad you like it @ScallopShellWalk . I don’t think it’s the one I returned as I think you’d bought it before mine was received back.
I’m now waiting for the brown Cleo Tshirt, a bandana and the tablecloth dress. Hope it looks as it did on instagram.
it’s raining and windy here. I have a Mira jumper on 😑.

faustina · 04/07/2026 13:47

@Whowhatwerewolf - those two things look so lovely together!

My two orders finally arrived this morning. The twill belted trousers are sadly going straight back. The colour is really nice but the fit doesn't work for my shape and they make me look as if I'm wearing someone else's clothes because I lost mine in a fire or something - not what you want for £95

The jacket is a beautiful colour - it's quite short - way shorter than it looks on the model who is 4" taller than me and @Saurus72 you're right and I should have gone two sizes down. I've ordered it in a 4 and will keep an eye out for a 6 coming back

@ScallopShellWalk - hope the success of the dress makes up for the jacket disaster.

ScottishMouse · 04/07/2026 14:08

Last sale order arrived this morning. The half sleeve cashmere wool sweater is nice if a little thin, but neither the turmeric nor the russet colours suit me. The night sky neat cashmere wool sweater was bought as a duplicate as I wear mine all the time, but despite being the same size, there is almost 2 inches difference in the width, so it’s going back too.
I also bought the non-sale oat linen barrel leg trousers which are totally perfect except….totally see-through! Even my 16 yo dd who would go out with next to nothing on said definitely not. Such a shame.
The chambray lounge dress is a bit small on the bust in M, i’m waiting for the L which was sent in a separate parcel to arrive, but I will
keep it for hot weather lounging if it isn’t too big.
I also ordered the new blue flower mountain trainers but irl I do not like the main colour which is a bit yellowy to my eye, so they are going back too.
Still cannot make my mind up about the indigo jacket - there is definitely colour rub, and I’m leaning towards thinking it will not be that hard-wearing. I’m still pondering buying another of the sand jacket I love so much and dying it black. Any dyeing experts here - I’m wondering if the sand coloured base will make the black a bit brown? I would definitely not want that, and that is putting me off (plus the fact I emailed CS weeks ago to ask if the thread is cotton or polyester and I haven’t heard back so I cannot be sure it will take the dye and that would be a deal breaker). I should probably just wait for something better to come along.

ScallopShellWalk · 04/07/2026 14:28

@Whowhatwerewolf the waistcoat looks lovely. I’m sure it will earn its keep this summer. I can see it over denim and it works nicely with that top.

@faustina thank you. It’s cheered me up for sure.

I’m looking forward to hearing more stories and clothes arrivals. I have a couple things still to arrive.

mizu · 04/07/2026 17:32

@IlovePond an archive sale?!? 🤩 Im in London until late on the Thursday and then taking a DD up to Liverpool on the Saturday for her year in industry uni year……. Could I squeeze it in? It’s a fairly long trip for me too. I wonder if they could give us more information?

ScottishMouse · 04/07/2026 17:33

I decided to return the indigo jacket. Thanks @ScallopShellWalk for making us aware of the issue with it.
Had a look at the new things in store when I did my returns. I really like the cropped denim trousers but they looked terrible on me. Definitely for someone slimmer and taller, they made me look about 3 feet wide from the side 🤣
Nothing else leaped out at me. I’m looking forward to seeing the Ikat skirt when it comes into stock, I have my eye on that to spend my birthday voucher on.

IlovePond · 04/07/2026 18:14

@mizu - I might give them a ring next week - although, tbf, staff on the ground often seem to have very little idea in advance how these events will pan out.

Put it this way:

If Toast are restocking on each day and things are GENUINELY cheap, then it might be worth me trotting over there on the Saturday- weather permitting. (It would actually be a good distraction for me given the week ahead!)

However, if it’s going to be disappointing and quite pricey like the last couple of sample sales I have been to, I would give it a miss.

@IlovePond I did laugh at your albatross! We have one too, but small and singlemindedly devoted to DH who shamelessly enables him.

In the garden yesterday, DH in deckchair says 'I've been training the dog, he sits reliably now'. Me, that's impressive, let's see'. DH gives the command in authoritarian tones and the albatross jumps nimbly on to his knee and settles down with a treat and the self satisfied expression of a St Bernard who's just delivered a restorative keg of brandy. Luckily he's small enough not to be too much of a nuisance!

IlovePond · 05/07/2026 12:11

@Scotiasdarling 😹that’s adorable ❤️

We’ve tried with ours, but I do think my DH is part of the problem, too - he also can’t bear being away from DDog 🙈

Received second order , I can’t remember who wanted to know my take on the Blue Tea Towel Dress …
You’re right it’s really lovely , what a great dress .I tried two sizes and prefer the look of an oversized fit, it gives a Japanese vibe.
The old tomato purée crinkle set and the lawn green sun top are the wrong sizes , so a big return.
I retried the Indigo Japanese Jacket and like it today , so it’s in a maybe pile.
