I was wondering that too, @Kinfluencer - I have just ordered it to try, despite saying I had given up on the sale!

@faustina thank you for this. I’ve just complained on email.

I have this jacket too. I haven’t really worn it beyond a try on yet as the weather is too warm. It’s a lovely jacket and just my thing. I wonder what their response will be.

Bimblesalong · 03/07/2026 10:06

@TosstTastic totally agree! What a fab description.

I have fallen again and have ordered the navy seersucker dress, which reappeared in my size. And the large totem print poplin dress 🙄. I have a couple of hot hols followed by Cornwall, although already have some lovely toast things that will do. What can I say?!!

gah @ScallopShellWalk thats awful for any jacket, but particularly such a pricy one.

@TosstTastic Grin
Perhaps they forgot they moved on from the circus theme !

Could anyone please tell me if the tomato red crinkle runs brick/ orange or more raspberry

TIA

Mine has just arrived and I would say it's a somewhat muted true blue red. Definitely not brick (there's no orange in it) but I also wouldn't call it raspberry (no pink). I like the colour on me as I don't like anything too bright.

Whowhatwerewolf · 03/07/2026 11:23

Thinking about it, the closest colour I can think of for the crinkle shirt is that of tomato paste that's been sitting in the cupboard for too long!

hicat · 03/07/2026 12:45

Has anyone else ordered the tea towel green stripe shirt (and decided to keep it?) I’m in a heavy dither on it, I’m not convinced I could wear it often, however I lovvve the colour and stripes. I sort of like the cut, I think I do? Is the ironed neck fold going to be annoying after a few washes trying to keep it folded or will it keep? And what would you be wearing it with? Advice appreciated! I can only really imagine wearing it on a holiday… and I haven’t been on one (outside uk) in years. Though maybe that will change now.

was glad to pick up the waistcoat from last summer in navy from the sale. This summer’s waistcoat was weirdly cinched at the waist which isn’t a toast aesthetic in my mind. And I got the flower mountain sandals which I’m still dithering on too. I like their bounce and blue a lot though.

ScallopShellWalk · 03/07/2026 13:13

I have had a couple of emails from toast re the jacket. First one told me to take it back to the store I bought it from. But I bought it online. So I responded as such, asking confirmation I would be refunded in full. Meanwhile I created a returns label choosing faulty as that was the closest fit but adding to the effect of the fabric became damaged in normal minimal use. Second email acknowledged that I’d created such label for faulty and that it will be assessed in the warehouse then I’ll get an email. I have gone back to this as I’m not entirely sure they have read what I’m saying. I have also asked for refund without waiting on assessment. Anyhow, it’s gone back and I’ll have to see now what happens and how long it will all take. I think in this circumstance, with providing images, that I shouldn’t have to wait on their assessment. They can assess for their own information but I believe they should refund me regardless. John Lewis doesn’t mess with you ever. I’ll see what my next response is but I’m not happy. Doubly so.

ScallopShellWalk · 03/07/2026 13:37

Toast confirmed I will have to wait for the assessment. I will let you know what happens.

Cricketduckout · 03/07/2026 13:57

sorry. Hand woven gown , not jacket.
It’s now not available at all on the website so this will be the one that got away!
would still welcome experiences for those who have it, can enjoy it through fellow toasties!

Countmeout · 03/07/2026 15:25

That’s annoying @ScallopShellWalk . Fingers crossed it will be resolved quickly.

The page check dress has arrived and going back. I much prefer the fabric to the navy dress but it’s not as good a fit and the colour washes me out.

Whowhatwerewolf · 03/07/2026 16:27

Another newbie-to-Toast question please - approximately what percentage of items are you returning and has anyone been told off (or god forbid banned from ordering) for returning too much?

So far I've returned the Sculpt print dress and ordered the Tea Towel dress in two sizes (one of which is to be returned). I have the ecru kantha waistcoat coming which may be too boxy and need to go back. Is that excessive would you say? Luckily I like the two crinkle tops so I have had some successes also. Does anyone use the "try it on at home" service rather than risk returning loads?

faustina · 03/07/2026 17:19

@ScallopShellWalk - that is annoying, but I think perhaps past a certain price it's what they do? They did the same with a duvet cover I bought once which arrived with a hole in it, but I have had little things which have arrived damaged and once I've sent pics they've just sent another one straight out

@Whowhatwerewolf I've never heard of anyone being asked to stop returning so many things. Maybe it's a recognition of the sizing variations? I almost always order a couple of sizes if I really like something - in fact I'm kicking myself a bit that I only ordered one jacket the other day because they've sold out now!

OftenOrange · 03/07/2026 17:25

@ScottishMouse @ScallopShellWalk I bought that jacket and have just got back to uk and a lovely brown paper parcel!
The jacket doesn’t really look great on me, though I haven’t given it time to reexamine . My take is that it’s soft and unstructured , so if added to that prone to damage ,it’s not for me

OftenOrange · 03/07/2026 17:32

On the bright side , the other member of the parcel was the brown/ orange clamp dyed dress. ❤I’d describe it as one of those special Toast pieces , expensive but sale price just about acceptable. I took a punt on size 6 and it looks fine but is rather tighter under the arms than I’d like . I think that the chances of an 8 turning up are low , so will probably keep it .
I’m in the ‘show off your less than perfect arms , you’ve earned it’ brigade…..

OftenOrange · 03/07/2026 17:35

@ScallopShellWalk Crikey Toast should refund you no question , you’ve only had that jacket a week or so and you’re a valuable customer.

MsDastardley · 03/07/2026 18:11

@OftenOrange I also bought the clamp dress, it’s gorgeous.

I’ve just received the new black denim skirt. Love it. I often wear a Toast denim skirt for work, and think it’s something they do really well. I need a new black skirt as my current wrap version is too big. This one is a-line with button detail at waist. Length is good too, mid calf on me.

IlovePond · 03/07/2026 18:12

That clamp dress is beautiful- unfortunately I did not buy it when it was in stock in my size and, of course, it’s long gone!

OP posts:
Whowhatwerewolf · 03/07/2026 18:13

Thank you @faustina Yes I'm finding sizing really challenging. Everywhere else I'm 80% certain to be a size 10. With Toast though it's a complete lottery.

IlovePond · 03/07/2026 18:17

Add in the quality issues @Whowhatwerewolf and it’s no wonder things get returned.

I sent back glasses for being far too wonky, (I would definitely have kept them otherwise), and FM sandals, (again I would have kept them), due to them having different length straps.

OP posts:
ScottishMouse · 03/07/2026 18:25

Well if they stopped people
returning @Whowhatwerewolf i would have been stopped long ago! I often order two different sizes, but even then I would say I return 75% of purchases (sale and non-sale). This is partly sizing, partly quality, partly the weird fit of some Toast item, and partly just some things don’t work as well as I hope they might.

IlovePond · 03/07/2026 18:30

Indeed @ScottishMouse - it would also help if they had their sale stock in store, like normal companies!

OP posts:
Saurus72 · 03/07/2026 20:03

@Whowhatwerewolf One of the issues with Toast sizing is that it’s inconsistent as well as generally mad! So for dresses and jackets, I size down 2 sizes compared to, say, Jigsaw. For skirts, I go down one size. But for knitwear, it’s often true to size, and sometimes (the ‘neat’ sweaters for example) I size up, ditto some of the t-shirts. If it were consistently over/undersized it would make it a lot easier, ordering two sizes is often the only option.

ScallopShellWalk · 03/07/2026 20:21

@faustina yes its is likely that, it’s too pricy to not ask for it back. It’d be useful if they examined it for which garments would work in this cloth. I know the culottes are the same material as I ordered and sent them back. Maybe if it was ok to look shabby but I didn’t want to wear a shabby patchy pookie jacket that had one afternoon out. Sad.
On a brighter note, my seersucker dress arrives tomorrow. I’m sitting here pleased, as I look out my window at the rain.

faustina · 03/07/2026 20:29

You're not getting the new heatwave? 28 here tomorrow!
Both my orders are still enjoying their mini break in Swansea 😞I hope they aren't lost

triggers34 · 03/07/2026 20:47

I almost bought a Selma dress to try but was too slow it’s out of stock again , I am pondering these (circus)culottes has anyone tried them ? https://shop.app/p/16204447875421?variantId=64729907134813&utm_source=shop_app&utm_medium=shop_app_share&utm_campaign=share_product&link_alias=AYCfVV8r70ymg
