Does this swimsuit even exist?! Please help a frazzled swimmer out…..

I’ve lost a LOT of weight this year - about 5 and a half stone - and gone from a 22 to a 14. Clothes I’ve more or less got the hang of, but I CANNOT find a swimsuit, so I thought I’d throw myself at the mercy of MN.

Some key factors -

  • I have a profoundly disabled child. I need to be able to lift him and handle him, so nothing too low, and nothing I might fall out of!
  • I’m a 34G, so it must have some kind of boob support
  • I have quite a bit of excess skin in the belly apron area, so I need something where the legs aren’t cut too high, and this seems to be where I fall over - all the supermarket ones and M&S ones seem to come too high up and risk the skin rolls poking out…
  • CANNOT have complicated straps or tight tummy control that requires too long to get on - disabled child so needs to be something I can whip on and off.
  • Ideally not more than about £30 as I’m still losing weight so it’s a temporary fix.
  • I’d prefer plain/block colour to patterned as I’m still feeling quite self-conscious
  • No lumpy details or frills or a neck so high I can’t chuck a dress on over it and it not look weird

I know that the lands end tugless suit is basically the holy grail here, but it’s just too expensive right now, and also perpetually sold out in anything but mumsy florals…..

Pour Moi is good, but a bit more expensive.

I have heard that Bon Marche has good cheaper ones.

Good luck.

I wear a bikini and then wear a pair of my husband's swimming trunks over the bikini bottoms!

thinkfast · 31/05/2026 18:31

How tall are you OP? I love swimwear from shhhh Shein. I know it’s hated on Mumsnet. I never buy clothes from there but their swimwear is great. I’m 5 foot 8 and find it’s designed for someone slightly shorter though…

secretgoose · 31/05/2026 19:36

I wear swim shorts now and a bikini top. I’m a C cup though so not much to worry about up top. The god thing is though if you get swim shorts you can get any too you like that matches. I just find shorts loads more flattering and easier to wear.

I wear this, although my boobs are smaller , I think its fairly generous . Loads of colours and less than £20

Gettingbysomehow · 31/05/2026 20:12

I wear swim shorts and top with 3/4 length sleeves and I wear my own own comfy bra underneath. Ive lost 5 and a half stone and I like my loose skin covered.

latenightscrolling · 31/05/2026 21:08

This is absolutely incredible! Supportive, flattering etc. Bit pricey but the best I’ve ever bought. Starts at a size 14 x

Fantasie have some great swimsuits with underwire so good for women with bigger bust. Price point might be tricky but keep an eye of their outlet. Also to hide tummy you are better off with a print, flat colours will show fat.

Atleastthedoglikesme · 31/05/2026 22:40

I am a big girl (18) swim at least 3 times a week and this is my favourite costume. It has built in bust support.

I honestly can't get over how nice this costume is. I've had it 4 months and I swim 3 times a week and it still looks new
It comfortable and flattering.

I came on to post a link to what I think must be the older version of this costume. Really comfortable and flattering, I love how it comes up at the back. Thanks for the link @goodnessidontknow I might order another 😀

Holidayz · 01/06/2026 00:23

I bought something similar to this last summer (different colourway) Has tight shorts under the looser shorts to cover the top of thighs, also fits nicely over rounder belly (both are problematic areas for me)

Only slightly over your budget.

If you prefer a swimsuit this is pretty much the same, without the shorts.

These decathalon one swimsuits might fit the bill, they look like a tankini but they are a one price with the vest but floating on top. I have one (34e) and it’s supportive enough and within your budget

I’m in the exact same boat on the weightloss. Lost 5 and a half stone, am now a size 12-14 with 34F bust. I have loose skin etc on my stomach. Found these sets on Amazon and the size L fits really nicely. It’s an over the head fit, so no clasps or ties to worry about.

Also have the attached which is very flattering on and has a little tummy control (although not hard to get on!)

Doesn’t meet your no high neck requirement though.

Bought this in Medium.

This one has been a godsend to me and I often get asked where I got it. I am large of nork and it is supportive enough.

Beer3000 · 01/06/2026 11:11

I wear a nice supportive bikini top, swim shorts, and a vest over the top. You get proper swim vests/3 piece sets, but a cheap polyester (shein) standard tank is quick dry and just the same.

I like this, as can mix and match, and I think of the bikini top as a swimming bra.

I have 2 of these, 1 navy and 1 black and they are perfect. I’m large chested and have a wobbly tummy and and over hang from c section and this hides that well

I ordered this last night and it has just arrived. Thank you @vixen996 - it is lovely - I find the straight across neckline so much more flattering than the bra cup style.

Myotherrideisabroom · 01/06/2026 18:15

I know some people don't like Shein, but I've got these swim costumes and they're fantastic. I do aquafit 6 times a week and I also work in a pool with disabled children so do a LOT of hoisting and heavy lifting. I'm a 14 and ordered size 16s. I've also lost a lot of weight , from a 20 to a 14 and these hold in all the wobbly bits, the neckline supports my 34G bust too and they don't pop out whilst doing vigorous jumping about

Don't know if it's been mentioned, sorry if it has but landsend tugless has a sale on and there's one down to £30 from £50. Link here:

Have you thought of trying a Tankini with bottoms up to your waste, you can then buy them in other sizes if your top is bigger than the bottom. And easier to go to the loo. Peacocks do a nice choice.

Moanycowbag · 01/06/2026 19:55

I struggle with the crotch and legs fitting correctly on swimsuits as need a larger size for boobs but my bottom half is a size smaller so they get a bit baggy, so I wear a Zoggs swimsuit and wear a pair of swim shorts over it to hide/cover the gusset area Shorts https://www.next.co.uk/style/st646475/t52178
