Does this swimsuit even exist?! Please help a frazzled swimmer out…..

I’ve lost a LOT of weight this year - about 5 and a half stone - and gone from a 22 to a 14. Clothes I’ve more or less got the hang of, but I CANNOT find a swimsuit, so I thought I’d throw myself at the mercy of MN.

Some key factors -

  • I have a profoundly disabled child. I need to be able to lift him and handle him, so nothing too low, and nothing I might fall out of!
  • I’m a 34G, so it must have some kind of boob support
  • I have quite a bit of excess skin in the belly apron area, so I need something where the legs aren’t cut too high, and this seems to be where I fall over - all the supermarket ones and M&S ones seem to come too high up and risk the skin rolls poking out…
  • CANNOT have complicated straps or tight tummy control that requires too long to get on - disabled child so needs to be something I can whip on and off.
  • Ideally not more than about £30 as I’m still losing weight so it’s a temporary fix.
  • I’d prefer plain/block colour to patterned as I’m still feeling quite self-conscious
  • No lumpy details or frills or a neck so high I can’t chuck a dress on over it and it not look weird

I know that the lands end tugless suit is basically the holy grail here, but it’s just too expensive right now, and also perpetually sold out in anything but mumsy florals…..

The Bravissimo Miami swimsuit ticks all of your boxes except on cost.

Have you tried Vinted? If you filter for size, brand and 'new with tags' you'll find lots of Lands End ones and similar for a fraction of the cost.

I also think John Lewis own brand costumes are better than M&S for bum coverage. They're a bit above your budget but they'll all be in the sale in a month or so if you can wait.

Trotula · 30/05/2026 19:41

I like the Next range which do have tummy control but I don’t find difficult to get on. It’s lasted really well in a pool and jacuzzi. I find the cups are supportive (I’m an FF cup) and the neckline is flattering. Legs aren’t cut too high either.

£32
lots of colours and patterns too

My last few have been Sainsburys. I am a size 20 F/G cup. They have had rouched tummies, cups and adjustable straps. I swim, canoe and paddle board in them. Similar to this:

There is also this one

Both less than £20.

Vert "functional" but covers all bases, cheap AF and lasts.

ThisBirdOnThatRoof · 30/05/2026 20:00

Decathlon. A 14 might be an L? This one is less than £30. You can find even cheaper ones.

I have a different Decathlon swimsuit and am large up top but it works.

Thefrenchconnection1 · 30/05/2026 20:08

The holy grail is on Debenhams for £32.

rebus · 30/05/2026 20:10

Have you considered a 2 piece tankini? Makes it easier to whip on and off when you're using the rest room.

Possibly a swimsuit top like this one:

It could be paired with black high waisted swim bottoms from the same site, or from anywhere, really.

LivingTheDreamish · 30/05/2026 20:15

Bravissimo really is the answer to swimwear for larger cup sizes but I know the cost is prohibitive. I was also going to suggest investing in a Bravissimo tankini top which might still work as you lose weight. You can pair it with some cheap pairs of high waisted bikini bottoms.

Whatifwewereallperfect · 30/05/2026 20:45

Try googling "Boy Leg Swimming Costumes" I hate high cut costumes but there are lots of boy leg ones that are great

AnonSugar · 30/05/2026 20:46

I’m a full coverage kinda girl and Amazon never lets me down. Wore this on holiday recently and didn’t need anything over it as it looks like beachwear.

Best swimsuit I ever bought was this from Target in the US - the brand is Shade and Shore, worth checking eBay or Vinted, similar on Amazon too. I can unbutton the front to wear under a dress.

dontletmedownbruce · 30/05/2026 20:55

look on eBay for a Fantasie one-piece with adjustable leg length (ties) and buy it in your bra size. You will not go wrong.

Alwayswonderedwhy · 30/05/2026 20:57

I find Decathlon great for reasonably priced swimming costumes with good coverage.
I've got the Heva style, it comes in plain black or colour blocked. I'm a size 14 with G cup and usually struggle to find swimwear that fits well. It's support in the bust area but it's not restrictive. It's really easy to get on and off too, unlike some of the more expensive brands with tummy control etc.

This looks good too..

If you find one you like, have a look on Vinted before you buy it brand new. I know not ideal to buy swimwear second hand but so many things are brand new and still have the labels. You might get a bargain!

Hotpants123 · 30/05/2026 21:54

I really like these swim suits. They have the green one in your size but you are going to have to pay a bit more than your budget.

It doesn’t need to be cup sized, I’m happy with one with the little boob shelf thing! :)

That's an amazing amount of weight to have lost! Well done.

Is this one cut too high?

https://www.speedo.com/women-s-racer-zip-swimsuit-with-swim-bra-black/15632007.html?

Thank you! It’s an ongoing process. Too poor for ozempic, too stubborn to give up! :) I think that one is a bit high and also I think the straps would be tricky to navigate whilst hanging on to a wet, struggling SEN child, but thank you! :)

PunRunTea · 30/05/2026 22:19

You can just wear a bra underneath a swimsuit or tankini. I often do either soft sports bra or just a normal al M&S non wired one. It was a game changer get for me, I now buy much cheaper swim suits & wear a soft bra. I pool swim lengths and sea swim works well in both.

I'm a 38G and wear this:

https://www.tesco.com/shop/en-GB/products/322493136?sc_cmp=ppc

I'm also 7 stone down with a lot of loose skin and find this suit works well for me. It's not a built in bra, but the shape of the bodice area seems to work like a sports bra for me, especially with the zip!

Well done you!! That looks promising, except is it a real zip or a decorative one? If it’s real, that one is out as my kid will 100% unzip it when I’m not expecting it, in the middle of the pool Blush
