Greasy hair problem

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · Today 09:48

I suffer from greasy hair.

Don’t tell me to stop washing it because it’s so bad on Day 3 it HAS to be washed or I look a tramp

I’ve tried every shampoo going.

The problem I have now is that I cut a fringe in to hide my eleven lines but it doesn’t really do the trick and it’s SO greasy the FIRST day after a wash and looks absolutely shit. Do I just resign myself to the lines and get rid of the fringe? Is there anything I can try?

You could wash just your fringe every day?

Or wash your hair daily with a very small amount of mild shampoo and no conditioner. Could reduce the need to generate scalp oul.

Would you do a full shampoo over the sink?

Yes or in the shower, but only a tiny amount of shampoo.

Wash your fringe every day or couple of days - easy to do, you can even do it over the sink. This is the advantage of having a fringe with greasy hair! Also Superdrug dry shampoo is a miracle worker.

Hmmm worth a try. I’m having a full shower today so I’ll try tomorrow!

I also have greasy hair and I have to wash it daily or I look as if it’s wet. It is revolting but I have been this way my since puberty. The only time it changes was when I was pregnant and then once a week was fine, more like normal people’s hair. I think some of us just make excess oil and there isn’t really a treatment for that (maybe accutane but I managed to control my skin in other ways, so it’s just hair that’s an issue for me).

I have to wash my hair by day 3. I’m pleased to get two days from a wash. I don’t think that’s particularly unusual.

ChatGPT said to go very easy with conditioner and products like serums. Said to use a protein builder instead. Getting older is the thing that has mainly helped me, also leaving it to air dry as blow drying seems to encourage oil.

When I had a fringe I would just wash that bit on day 2.

@Soontobesingles I seem to sweat a lot through my scalp I think that’s why

You're doing well to make it to day 3 really. People with very greasy hair have to wash it every day. I agree that for some people you can't train it to be less greasy as some people claim. The only thing that has (slightly) improved it for me is getting older.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · Today 10:01

@TheOGCCL so, I have been using a lot of conditioner and serum to stimulate growth speciality ones because I’ve had some hair loss, I realise it’s probably exacerbating the grease

@Gwenhwyfar it I’m honest making it to Day 3 is at a push and it doesn’t look great on Day 2

I can only use clear shampoo. Anything creamy and it's greasy by night time. I'm currently using L'Oréal Hydra Pure which is for greasy roots and dry ends.

Wash hair every day in the morning. Condition only the ends.

I would avoid serums and scalp oils unless put on overnight.

You can get dry shampoo in a slightly dark tone (for brunettes) and a light spray of that over the roots of your fringe and on hair on temples as the last thing you do after drying and styling will help absorb oil there.

Sometimes if i've showered in the eve. and don't need to in the morning i'll just wash my hair by hanging over the bath. Very quick. If you haven't got a shower head which you can bring down like that you can get a rubber attachment to pop onto bath taps or sink taps to make a shower head 👍

Welcome to the 'fringe wash'. As a long time fringe haver, this is the best way!
