I am 2 inches shorter than the model, have to wear flat shoes.
Size 8. I want too wear it as much as possible :) I bought it as it is beautiful and cannot find ways to wear it. Thanks for any help!
It looks white on my screen but it is very pale pink.

Pale pink ballet flats and a fitted t shirt or top to balance it out.

JuliaBraverman · Today 07:02

I’d love an Audrey Hepburn vibe for it, ballet pumps and close fitting top but I’m a romantic!

It was vinted so I can't send it back, and it is absolutely gorgeous, I am just not great at this. I was hoping for some great ideas rather than a telling off 😂

Ignore the random first few comments

S+B is literally here to solve styling dilemmas

I'd be tempted to let the skirt be the focus of the outfit, and go neutral bodysuit.

Its beautiful 🥰

@Helpmefindmysoul great ideas, thank you so much

@OtterandaRock I had to google those colours! Thank you, I do have lots of tops from my own wardrobe to try on now 😃

Black silk shirt knotted at the waist

StephensLass1977 · Today 08:00

I've got similar in black. I wore a slightly cropped t shirt - any length which sits just above the skirt waistband.

I tried it with a regular/longline t shirt which covered the top of the skirt - don't do this. I looked absolutely huge and it created the worst lumps and bumps. The t shirt has got to sit above the skirt waistband.

Can also add a cropped cardigan. Any style.

A short fitted denim waistcoat would look good!

I think a T shirt would bunch up at the waist, unless I got a new thinner fabric one

It might help to have the skirt shortened a little. Those two inches might make a difference.

I would wear it with a blouse or maybe a wrap top in jersey fabric. A simple shirt or verse top might work as well. I think I’m underestimating the difficulty here… this seems like a fairly versatile skirt that would go with many tops 🤔

edit: either cropped or thin enough to tuck in. Definitely not over the skirt’s waistband.

faithfultoGeorgeMichael · Today 08:19

@StephensLass1977 yes, this is the underlying fear - I am very short in the body and everything bunches up anyway 😂I found a pic of a woman a little shorter than me in this skirt and I think it looks lovely the way she has styled it too.

I think there’s a difference between “I have some ideas” or “how would you style this” and “I’ve spent a ton of money on this ugly skirt that I now can’t wear”.

The skirt is horrendous btw

I see you perfectly embody the spirit of your username, dump.

Apileofballyhoo · Today 08:29

Google 1950s fashion images for a good shape. If you can get a boat neck top, maybe bardot, I think that would look good.

nonmerci99 · Today 08:33

My style is on the plainer, classic side, so I’d wear a navy ballerina or scoop neck style top from Jigsaw or a slim fit cotton t-shirt in grey or navy or maybe even white depending on how it looked against the skirt. Lots of great ideas on here for the more adventurous fashionistas!

Then for evening could I wear a nice bodysuit?

Yes.
Gorgeous skirt.

EgregiouslyOverdressed · Today 08:36

It's tricky because the elasticated waist creates a bunched effect. I wear a lot of full skirts and they are much much easier to style if they have a flat waistband, at least at the front. It pays to spend a bit of time feeling along the waistband and checking that the elastic hasn't turned in the casing, as this will exacerbate any bunching. If you are short-waisted you need something as slim-fitting as possible on the top, and tucking in a t-shirt won't work. I agree with pp who have suggested bodysuits, ideally in a bold colour so that you don't look like you are cosplaying as a ballerina Grin

StretchingShantyJugg · Today 08:49

There are loads of camis around - clothes are very much early 2000s at the moment and I've seen these style skirts in both Zara and Mango. A body suit would be good.

henlake7 · Today 09:24

Its a very cute skirt. I think in this weather you could go for a classic white vest and sandals combo.
Or a nice fitted tee with ballet flats. I agree that you need to avoid adding more volume at the waist so stick to fitted or at least slightly cropped tops.
Then you could add a fitted or wrap over cardie on top if cooler or a boxy cropped jumper/cardie or jacket.
(Im a scruff though so would pair it with a fitted graphic tee and my trusty Converse!😆).

GimmieABreakOr3 · Today 09:42

I would wear a fitted tank top underneath or tuck in a striped tshirt :)

Thiswasanescapeplan · Today 09:54

Came back to agree with pp about a boat neck! Love that idea.

Alittlefrustrated · Today 10:32

Cropped t-shirt, vest, tank, jumper or cardi. Def cropped. I would personally go boxy and cropped. Blousey shaped top, tucked in, with waist accentuated with a nice wide belt, would also be a nice shape.
If worried about cropped, something very fitted, and slightly longer underneath cropped top might work.
Pink, white, stripes, tan, brown, silver - so any colours to choose from.

ThePoetsWife · Today 10:47

I see these skirts being styled with high necked, crew or boat necked vest tops

Notsosweetcaroline · Today 11:14

I have a couple of dresses with thay sort of style skirt. I also adore them. And also in my fifties, and also an eight.

my dresses come with a close fitting sort of tank top, it’s hugely flattering, so if you’re good with your arms, a close fitting jersey tank will work.

something like this, I think many colours will work, chocolate, camel, pale pink, cream etc,

I also sometimes wear a big slouchy jumper over mine , something like this, and I’d say the same colours would work, chocolate, tan, etc.
